along wth the good the bad and the ugly, best western ever made, aND really moody but very interesting, not a action western but certainly films like unforgiven got there edge from films like this, eastwood a great presence and directing talent
criminally overlooked, and the film that brought an end to costners box office gold in the early 90s.
clint eastwood, directs and co stars, as a texas ranger, in 60s texas, who has to hunt down fujitive kevin costner fresh out of jail, and on route kidnapps a young boy played by t.j lowther. as they go threough texas, tipically a bond developes, and the kid learns a new lease of life as him being a jehova religion, he gets to do all the stuff his parents wouldent normally allow, but with eastwood, on his tail, he knows time is short. love this film, and a great role for costner, he was in the top of his game from late 80s to early 90s, and this deserves to be seen more, eastwood as ever, showing a great nack for acting, directing, a nice leisurly paced film, which does take its time, but all the better for it, agreat road movie up there with sugerland express, which has many similerities, great looking texas landscape as well, a great chase movie
clint eastwod directs this fasinating tale of a missing child, the returning of child, and the mothers despair as she sees the kid is not her child, and her anguish at the L.A police department, for simply not believing her, as the police department was a very corrupt place, and public opinion, not on there side, it is said, a replacement for her son was given to her, to gain the police department back some much needed respect, and public opinion, this film deals really well, with a mothers despair, and angelina jolie is superb, if ever a role made for oscar, this is it, she does say, this is not my son throughout a awful lot, and crying bucket loads, but it works, certainly her best work for a long time, the film also shows the story of corruptiuon well, and all police and inspectors, either lying through there teth, or realising they simply did the wrong thing in this situation, and there, if theres a film that you want to see to inspire to stand up the man, this is one of them, eastwod directs and with a great eye too, this film looks great, from, downtown losangeles, to deserted ranches, this film is never dull, with a story streching over 8 years, and many charactors coming into play, lots of emotional moments and some hard scenes to watch, child murder, amoung them, a true story of a time gone by, a really great watch
eastwood plays a grumpy old man in his retirment years and we se him as he becomes a widow, he grumbles and moans at his neighbours who are korean and not american, and grumbles some more at his two sons who really just care for him, and the grumbles some more at the local priest who really thinks clint should confess in church, its when he gets tangled up with his neighbours that his life changes and he sees what other people, if a little diferent, can offer, but its a very dangerous pathy he can get into, this is definatly dirty harry retired in my eyes, ven though its not, he really doesent like whats going on around him, and eastwood geting old here playing old well, he still has what it takes, and as usuall directing also, the story is simple yet heartwarming, and runs along smoothly, predictably maybe, but eastwood always watchable, his racist oldman may come off funny someimes, and his roans throughout, whenever something happens, takes getting used to, but its never dull, yes it could be a little more gritty and less soppy, but a good film here
