There's more to the American South than racists, rednecks, big hair and bad accents, but you wouldn't know it by watching these movies.

Heart of Dixie (1989,  PG)
Heart of Dixie
Even CPR can't save this overly earnest, cliched story of civil rights era South. Do Not Resuscitate!
2
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997,  R)
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
Another great book turned into crappy movie. What amde the book original is turned into cliche. God, I hate bad Southern accents.
3
The Prince of Tides (1991,  R)
The Prince of Tides
More like low tide for those who loved the book. Impossible to watch this Streisand-self love fest. Cut your damn fingernails already woman! "Lowenstein.." Ugh!
4
Days of Thunder (1990,  R)
Days of Thunder
Somehow NASCAR survived Tom Cruise and this piece of crap to become the huge sport it is today.
5
Stroker Ace (1983,  PG)
Stroker Ace
Worse than Days of Thunder , but better than Kenny Rogers in Six Pack. (Watching early Nicole Kidman versus fading Loni Anderson gives Thunder the edge)
6
The Dukes of Hazzard (2005,  PG-13)
The Dukes of Hazzard
How many studio executives does it take to reinforce a stereotype? Loved the show as a kid, but this Tinsletown movie-by-committee remake fails on every level except for some inspired casting choices: Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse, Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg, and Jessica Simpson in those Daisy Dukes. (Sexist, I know, but damn)
7
Shag (1989,  PG)
Shag
If only it was about Austin Powers favorite word and not beach music.
8
Ernest Goes to Jail (1990,  PG)
Ernest Goes to Jail
When one-note characters stretch past their limits. (See various SNL movies)
9
Blaze (1989,  R)
Blaze
AKA Sleeping With The Director. Davidovich demonstrated nightly to her director/husband why she should play the New Orleans stripper. Of course, she didn't have to talk then.
10
The Thing Called Love (1993,  PG-13)
The Thing Called Love
"Country music is popular with all those idiots we fly over going from New York to LA. Why don't we make a shitty formulaic movie about it."
