absolutely brilliant! not just the live footage, turned into documentary, of the spectacle, but the festival itself. what a great thing. great times. great music. great ideas. now that was pure living. too bad the remakes and copies never reached the grandiosity of this original Woodstock festival...

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?



I could say the 4 stars were just because of this line.

if there was a film where Al Pacino proved he was nothing less than a briliant actor, that film was Serpico. forget the first Godfather. he was good there yes, but he shares the protagonism with several other brilliant actors. he should have retired by the turn of the millennium, and leave aside all the crappy Recruits, 88 Minutes, Righteous Kills, and etc...

what a laugh!

its amazing how a simple depiction of a bank robbery, can turn out to be so damn brilliant in the hands of Lumet and Pacino.

holy grail! now this was hilarious.. it loses for the unexpected end, but the rest is just pure laughing 'till it hurts.

this film is quite a complete western, it has indians, outlaws and headhunters, a demand for revenge, tobacco spiting, desert cities, horses and gunshots, and a tough badass hero, wich hardly gets a scratch against ten enemies (it loses half a star on that, in my opinion)... so yea, all the western formula is here.

this first Star Wars (fourth in the series) is just one hell of a sci-fi. i find it better than any Alien, Blade Runner, or any sci-fi of this era, just because it is far more complete, and it is a brilliant depiction of what could be the future, or the long time gone past, like it is said in the beggining of each SW. its almost flawless and with the so many different, and interesting, characters, planets, starships, its no wonder it began a nerd mass histeria to know the best of each of them. and i add, if i'm a nerd because i loved this, then i proudly am.

my first true Woody Allen film, and not those recent Matchpoints or Vicky Cristinas (not saying that they weren't good, far from that). and so, as one if his so called best, i wasn't much impressed, which disapointed me, alot. i wasn't very fond with Allen's egoccentrism, as the main character, and all his non-funny jokes (probably his style, i don't know, will check that in Manhattan and Sleeper, as my next flicks to get). but anyway, overall, despite Allen's selfishness, i enjoyed the story, some lines stayed in my ear, and Keaton was a flower.

i don't know what to think or say about this film, i don't know if i should consider it as one of the most marvelous surrealistic masterpiece i've seen, or if i should consider it as nonsense, disgusting, disturbing, weird and confusing piece of garbage and give it half a star.

well i think i'll go for the first option, since i already know Lynch's style and work, and i know he's a puzzling director, and by that, everything has a meaning.
i oughta see this again, and again, and again... the many times i may need, to solve the puzzle.

i really can't imagine the fright of the audiences when they went to see this for the first time, at the cinema. yes, its that scary. great atmosphere, awesome gore, briliant cinematography. highly recomendable for any true horror fan.

really good. i only regret it wasn't as scary as i thought it would be, as i recall being afraid of watching it when i was a kiddo. loved the special effects, but not so much the alien itself. there were times you get to distiguinsh its an hand playing a puppet. i still love it anyway.

honnestly, I found the first 30 mins a complete bore. the lack of different jokes from the past films and sketches, made it also a bit too... serious, to say the least. also, the catchy, and now quite known, song at the end was a proof they were taken to the commercial side, by then. but well, Life of Brian had its nonsense moments, yes, although not as hilarious as in the Holy Grail. it was funny nonetheless, on a general approach.

Coppola must have sold his soul to the devil for this.

for a low budget film, it is quite well done.

Brilliant as a continuation for the IV. the ending fight between Vader and Luke is simply astonishing, and so it is the revealing secrets it brings. the melodrama surrounding SW starts after this moment...

i still am to understand Lynch's style. he wether creates completely puzzling stories, entering human psyche and analysing it, and where you have to watch the film at least three times to understand 1/3 of the film, or he creates these absolutely marvelous simple stories, though, i've noticed, the simple ones are often based on veridic stories.

"Hey, wait a minute, there's no birthday party for me here! " Spiccoli was a laugh, although the major role of the film wasn't his.

horror classic. outstanding special effects.

superb acting by Kinski, and an amazing work by Herzog.

not as good the first two, and the small bears were quite annoying. the ending was cheesy, but what to expect after Vader is no longer evil? and c'mon, i thought he was unbeatable and then he let his hand be cut in such a lame way?.... ok well, it loses points because Vader turns to the good side before he dies (much because of his son, i know...blabla it sucks). it is still thrilling and achieves to gather some more nerds to the club.

the interpretations, lines, and emotions of the characters are as robotic and cold as money, and the greed that comes with it. I liked the film, but at the same time, this kind of concept bored me. 3 stars are the best i can give.

i seem to be getting more and more fond of this kind of filmmaking. this first part of the qatsi trilogy was, absolutly, beyond my expectations. not that it brought something new to me, since i've seen Chronos and Baraka before this, but somehow it clicked another light on me. we're nothing more than a mechanical society.

the first true musical libertine, and the starter of a new musical era, and through it, a new world view. Romanticism had begun. one of the best bios i've seen. three cheers for Forman, and specially for the brilliantness of the cast.

a fantastic and rather creative coming-of-age tale, captivating until the very last minute. possibly my fave of the genre.

truly amazing! there's like big contrast feelings through out the whole film, the purity in one side, and the evil/perversion in the other, and thats absolutely brilliant. Dennis Hopper did one heck of a performance! one of the most sadistic, evil, mad characters i've seen, side to side with Kakihara (from Miike's Ichi The Killer).

really sick and disgusting. this may seem contradicting, but i loved it.

for me, the best one of the saga. yea, it has more action paced moments, and less chilling ones. it loses something for that. but i just loved the way it keeps your heart pumping from scene to scene.

I was somewhat suspicious on this film but I was surprised it turned out to be really good. Its funny, its clever, and its probably the only worthy film in Broderick's entire career.

one of the best depictions of the war on 'Nam, for sure. the trippy vision of stoned Stone is highly recognizable in every shot.

My thoughts drift back to erect nipple wet dreams about Mary Jane Rottencrotch and the Great Homecoming Fuck Fantasy. I am so happy that I am alive, in one piece and short. I'm in a world of shit... yes. But I am alive. And I am not afraid.

beautiful film

a great gangster film, and thats it. judging it as "based upon" story, and as a gangster film such as Godfather or Goodfellas, it is a marvelous film. because this is not supposed to be one biographic view on the true events, like some people do think.

you can't really miss when you combine classic chinese martial arts with fun comedy and horror. really great to pass up a good time.

a quite fun portrayal of several women, each with their own problems and comedic situations.

i've been for quite a while trying to watch this, now i finally did it, and i'm no way disapointed. its a really beautiful tribute to cinema, and to all the emotions and joy it produces in everyone who loves it.

though a dark and grotesque adaptation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland", it is still a quite good movie, with a delightfull stop-motion piece of work.
added to this, without my aknowledge, there was a 6min short film, aswel by Svankmajer, 'glued' at the end of Alice (i don't know if it was supposed to be that way or not), called "Darkness, Light, Darkness". it shows how creative this master of stop-motion can be.

brilliant.

now forget all those crappy serial killer movies like Bone Collector, Mind Hunters or all those Hostels, because this one is much more valuable to take a peek at. it is pure horror and disgust about one person, but whats more horrifying, is that you'll have some compassion for him at some point. creepy.

i loved the camera moves and all the surreal/strange elements through out the story. plus, had its funny moments, but not as briliant as i was expecting.

i didn't get the full idea of the film. it seemed somewhat confusing for me what van Sant wanted to prove, but i'm sure that after a rewatch i might understand that better. as for the rest, the acting was just superb, with a much younger and still talented Keanu Reeves, and River Phoenix, whose soul may rest in peace, would surely become one of the best acting stars for nowadays. also, loved the really spectacular outdoor shots, a signature already quite known from van Sant.

awesome view into the "making of" of one of the best films ever made, Apocalypse Now, and the struggle of Coppola to finish it, due to all the setbacks..

thrilling, intense, disturbing, one of the finest aussie movies I've seen.

i admit i'm not really of a western expert, and most of the ones i did see were pretty recent compared to the great westerns era of the 50's and 60's, but i surely have to say, that of those recent ones, this is probably the best one.
