great adaption of the 30s show, and a great film from depalma, costner as elliot ness and a magnificent deniro as al capone, oh and connery as a irish cop by way of scotland( nothing new there) great 30s setting really showing of the time, and all round a great action thriller

steven spielberg directs a ambitious tale of a young british school boy, superbly played by a very young christian bale, living in shangai when japan invades, and he is seperated, from parents, and afdter living rough on the streets and abandoned house, taken in to a prisoner camp, where he wil live out rest of the war, he he befriends a bunch of american servicemen, two of which he was with urviving back in shangai, played by john malkovich and joe pantolino, living in the camp is not tough for this kid, relishing the american way of doing things, helping out with the doctors, or watching planes from airport next door, it is a dream, but reality does come crashing down and always puts him back in place
bale is exellent here perfectly capturing a spoilt upper class british school boy, the film looks amazing, capturing the time of ww2, great story, fitting in a timeline over couple of years, it never drags, and also, the structure helps a lot, changing focus from shangai, to the camp, in my top 10 spielberg

one of the best thrilers and a great twist, probely best of all time, a great political film as well

great look at 2 struggling actors, who are alchaolics, who go on holiday to the country, very weird but very funny, and quotable, grant has never been better

a great example of the 80s and why they were great for action, very violent, great action, that main theme, nancy allen looking as hot as ever, some great one liners,,,,ill buy that for a doller, and some nasty villains, a great adition to paul verhovens filmoghraphy
