Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella) (1998,  PG-13)
Life Is Beautiful (La Vita è bella)
This sensational war film is the movie definition of hope. The story extracts laughter from one of the most tragic moments in history, and evokes tears in its raw humanity and... inhumanity.

*Roberto Benigni, My Best Actor of 1998.

The Spanish Prisoner
Confusing and elementary at the same time- Mamet wouldn't have it any other way. The master playwright proves that he is an auteur and can thrill and intrigue without his usual profanity. This mystery is full of twists and suspense, and fetures Steve Martin in his own departure from typecasting.
6
Dark City (1998,  R)
Dark City
Well deserving of Ebert's top film of 1998. It has a noir-ish feel and an impecable script. Sutherland's best performance (and '24' is one of my favorite TV shows). If you like dark, mysterious, and intriguing, with a twist and quality ending, this is your movie.

A Bug's Life
A delightful movie with rich animation and a fun, captivating story. The real interesting thing is that this fun, family movie is actually a remake of 'The Magnificent Seven,' albeit Disneyfied. I'm not kidding- the resemblances are uncanny.

Ever After - A Cinderella Story (1998,  PG-13)
