2005 Top Movies

I'm beginning to appreciate Adam Sandler's comedy more when he's in light entertainment comedies like Punch-Drunk Love and Spanglish rather than those childish toilet humour movies in his earlier work. And for a "man-child" he is convincing as a good natured family man.

Woody Harrelson is usually good value fun when it comes to comedy crime capers whether its with White Men Can't Jump or Money Train (and even with Cheers he usually steals the show) so with After The Sunset it is made watchable and entertaining with him providing most of the comedic relief. The storyline maybe somewhat pedestrian to be a good heist movie but the movie works better as a comedy/adventure piece.

There is plenty of eye-candy for the male viewers with Salma Hayek in her swimsuit for most of the movie. And the location of the movie is an advertisement for your next holiday.

They say that when your existence is in peril, your life flashes before your eyes. Well, that's the technique used here and it is how the movie unfolds. And it works to a certain degree but it all depends on how much you emotionally invest in this movie with the characters and their situation.

So I can see how many will enjoy this movie and I think that many will like it also. If not, then at the very least you'll come to respect the men & women who do this for a living.

It's fun, but without the many laughs. It's entertaining, but without being great.

For those who'd enjoyed Shaolin Soccer should get a kick out of this movie. It's silly, it's embarassingly over-the-top, it sometimes reaches an overkill point in the action and CGI but if you can grab on to the rails and hold on to it than you may enjoy the ride.

You can tell who this movie is aimed at and for that deliberate targeting and catering, he was able to make a fortune in Asia. It's purely a popcorn movie.

Good premise but it got silly and perhaps sloppy in the middle and towards the end.

Here's one grand example of a movie that is style over substance. A wasted ensemble cast with an unpolished script. I highly doubt that hollywood will be rushing to remake this silly movie. I hope not anyway.

Be Cool is this year's Ocean's 12. Loved the original; hated the sequel.

Got tired of the revolving setups and double-crossings, got tired Chilli Palmer and his talk, got tired of Vince Vaughn and his Vanilla Ice hippidity-hop, and I got tired of The Rock and his People's Eyebrow.

The ending was Be Stupid. I would've prefered to be watching Get Lost!.
