1
Mission: Impossible III (2006,  PG-13)
Mission: Impossible III
Cool action film, better than the second. It has plenty of action from all around the globe with a true gritty style to it. One of the best action films in recent years!!
2
The Guardian (2006,  PG-13)
The Guardian
Cool film with the master teaching the new rookie type plot. It was very enjoyable with some good action scenes and sfx!
3
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Another quality film as good as the first with a good on screen chemistry between the 3 main leads.
4
Saw III (2006,  R)
Saw III
A very gory 3rd installment, better than the second I thought with more twisted 'games'. Reveals a bit more from the first two films as well.
5
The Departed (2006,  R)
The Departed
A great crime drama with great performances all round. If you like Donnie Brasco, Heat, Goodfellas you'll love this.
6
The Prestige (2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
A cool film with a few good twists along the way.
7
Deja Vu (2006,  PG-13)
Deja Vu
A good blockbuster big budget action film. If you can forgive the silly idea of having a portal that allows them to look back in time 4 days to any point, from any angle and even indoors!?!? Then this is an otherwise very good action film if a little predicatable.
8
Silent Hill (2006,  R)
Silent Hill
One of the best game to film adaptations. Very odd, strange and creepy but altogether a good horror film that may surprise you.
9
Stormbreaker (Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker) (2006,  PG)
Stormbreaker (Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker)
A teenage Jame Bond in the making.
10
Hostel (2006,  R)
Hostel
A good horror film but overhyped. Didn't think it was any more gory than most other recent horror films. Seen far more gore in many low budget horrors.
11
Click (2006,  PG-13)
Click
A great funny film with a feel good feel to it.
12
DOA: Dead or Alive (2007,  PG-13)
DOA: Dead or Alive
Probably the best game to film adaptation so far. Really keeps the feel of the game with flashy graphic scenes just like playing the game. The charaters are true to the game and the fights very impressive. Complete with the sexy female charaters and it couldn't be any more like the game.
13
Blood Diamond (2006,  R)
Blood Diamond
A great film dealing with so many issues around the diamond trade and life in general in Africa. Full of action and great acting, a moving film and brutally violent at times to.
14
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006,  PG-13)
X-Men: The Last Stand
Another great X Men film with great special effects.
15
When a Stranger Calls (2006,  PG-13)
When a Stranger Calls
A very good suspense film, but the end will leave you wanting more!
16
Underworld: Evolution (2006,  R)
Underworld: Evolution
More of the same in this sequel with a similar plot to the first. This is slightly more bloody and sexed up from the first.
17
The Illusionist (2006,  PG-13)
The Illusionist
A great film, with some fine actors and a great story that has a bit of a twist as well. Just as good as The Prestige and just as entertaining for different reasons. If you enjoyed that you should like this as well!
18
Poseidon (2006,  PG-13)
Poseidon
A cool popcorn version update of the original.
19
Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (2006,  PG)
Ice Age 2: The Meltdown
Just as much fun as the first, all ages will enjoy it. No doubt there will be a third before long.
20
Flushed Away (2006,  PG)
Flushed Away
Good fun for all ages with a strong voice over cast, which Ian McKellen excels at as the posh Toad with a devious plan. Very well animated as well.
21
American Pie 5: The Naked Mile (2006,  R)
American Pie 5: The Naked Mile
A very funny film. More like the first 2 films with crazy things going on, wild parties and hot women. If you like the others you will love this.
22
The Lake House (2006,  PG)
The Lake House
A very good love story with fine acting. Some seem to question the whole time travel side of it a bit too much and it may confuse some. It's a great story and quite similar to Sandra Bullock's other recent film Premonition.
If you can ignore or get your head around the time travel theory of using information in the present to change the past etc then you will enjoy this romantic movie!
23
The Da Vinci Code (2006,  PG-13)
The Da Vinci Code
I've not read the book but heard it was good so thought I'd see what the fuss was about. Panned by critics but the film is quite good in a puzzle solving way.
24
Superman Returns (2006,  PG-13)
Superman Returns
Some great scenes but didn't live up to the hype for me.
25
Final Destination 3 (2006,  R)
Final Destination 3
Typical teen horror film, again with another cool opening to the film. Lots of inventive, gruesome deaths.
26
Crank (2006,  R)
Crank
A cool high octane action film that keeps the adrenalin pumping just like in the movie, if totally over the top.
27
The Descent (2006,  R)
The Descent
Very bloody at times but not as scary as I thought it would be. Still very good though.
28
Night at the Museum (2006,  PG)
Night at the Museum
A great film that is fun for all the family. Quite a simple story really but it's great seeing everything come to life at night. Has a few laughs and the effects, especially for the T-rex skeleton, are great.
29
16 Blocks (2006,  PG-13)
16 Blocks
A pretty good action/thriller if a little short. Bit hard to make out what Mos Def is saying at times though.
30
The Covenant (2006,  PG-13)
The Covenant
Stumbled across this after seeing a trailer. An ok teenaged aimed film which is a bit of of a mix of The Craft, The Lost Boys from the producers of the Underworld, it shows. It has some cool SFX and a thumping soundtrack. Pure popcorn fun to switch your brain in to auto pilot for!
31
See No Evil (2006,  R)
See No Evil
A very good modern horror, quite gory to. Better than most I have seen lately.
32
Severance (2006,  R)
Severance
A great low budget UK comedy/ horror. If you liked Shaun of the Dead you should like this.
33
The Butterfly Effect 2 (2006,  R)
The Butterfly Effect 2
A very good sequel if on a lower budget. Not as violent or dramatic as the first, but sexed up a little. Overall an enjoyable film.
34
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006,  PG-13)
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
Not quite as good as the first two but still plenty of high speed action and cool cars.
35
Stay Alive (2006,  PG-13)
Stay Alive
I really liked this low budget horror. If you love playing survival horror video games like Resident Evil, you should enjoy this. People start dying after they play a video game, exactly the same way as they die in the game. Is there a link and how can they survive before they are all killed off?
36
Jet Li's Fearless (Huo Yuan Jia) (Legend of a Fighter) (2006,  PG-13)
Jet Li's Fearless (Huo Yuan Jia) (Legend of a Fighter)
A pretty good martial arts film that just slows down a bit too much in the middle. However the fights are great.
37
Snakes on a Plane (2006,  R)
Snakes on a Plane
A pretty good action film with an over the top story line. Don't take it seriously and just enjoy the ride!
38
Inside Man (2006,  R)
Inside Man
Quite a good thriller with a bit of a twist. Think the same idea has been done before though?
39
Scary Movie 4 (2006,  PG-13)
Scary Movie 4
A very good spoof film making fun of The Grudge, The war of the worlds, Saw and The Village. It has a good mix of slapstick, visual jokes and great spoofs of the films mentioned. A lot like the 3rd installment. This is the type of film you love or hate!
40
2001 Maniacs (2005,  R)
2001 Maniacs
A bizarre film, very tongue in cheek. Lots of over the top gore. A bit like Wrong Turn but more comic than scary.
41
Pulse (2006,  PG-13)
Pulse
An ok horror/thriller based on a Japanese film. It starts ok and you get a real sense of doom and gloom in the way it is made. However it seems to lose direction towards the end. You should like this if you like White Noise, The Ring or Dark Water.
42
The Return (2006,  PG-13)
The Return
Wasn't sure what to expect with this, but it's not like the The Ring or Grudge. Very short at just 76mins and not a great deal happens until the last 20mins. However after a slow start the ending makes for a good film with a slight twist, but not scary at all.
43
Over the Hedge (2006,  PG)
Over the Hedge
A cool very detailed animation film, good fun but aimed more towards younger ages I felt.
44
The Sentinel (2006,  PG-13)
The Sentinel
Not as good as I hoped it would be, but still entertaining.
45
Hatchet (2006,  R)
Hatchet
Tagged as an old school American horror this definitely felt like watching an older horror film along the lines of Friday the 13th. However mixed with some very over the top gore from more recent horror films and you get this. Featuring cameos from Robert Englund, Tony Todd and Kane Hodder. There are plenty of jokes, gore and all the other ingredients that horror fans love about slasher films in this.
46
Black Christmas (2006,  R)
Black Christmas
A run of the mill modern day slasher film. Plenty of gore and gorgeous girls but the story is a bit lame and wanders of back into the past quite alot. Could have been a lot better, but it's enjoyable for fans of the genre.
47
Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor) (2007,  R)
Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor)
Has its good moments but it is a bit drawn out really. A missed opportunity really. It won't make any sense if you haven't seen the first as well!
48
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006,  R)
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
A very well made film with great visuals, locations. All very artistic, but the actual stroy is quite straight forward. It does get a bit odd towards the end. A good drama and by no means is this a horror or thriller if having Murderer in the title made you think that.
49
Firewall (2006,  PG-13)
Firewall
A very good thriller with a well chosen cast, hits all the right spots for this type of thriller. If you liked Hostage, Panic Room you should enjoy this as well.
50
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006,  R)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
A very good horror but almost identical to the recent remake version. Doesn't go indepth at all to show "The beginning"
51
The Pursuit of Happyness (2006,  PG-13)
The Pursuit of Happyness
A good film if a bit on the slow side and not quite as dramatic as I was expecting to be honest. A good tale based on true events about overcoming hardship.
52
Little Children (2006,  R)
Little Children
A good film, with some good acting talent. A tale of 2 people that meet and start ana affiar to escape their normal everyay lives. Although the sub plot of a child abuser being released back into their community didn't really fit in with the rest of the film.
53
Basic Instinct 2 (2006,  R)
Basic Instinct 2
Not a bad sequel considered it was torn apart by critics. Doesn't quite have the same steaminess of the original or quite as good a plot. However if you are a fan of thrillers you should enjoy the little twists in this. Also shows off some of London for a change.
54
Open Water 2 (Adrift) (2006,  R)
Open Water 2 (Adrift)
Better than Open Water as it is a bit more dramatic but seemed quite easy to get back on the boat eventually?
55
Pathfinder (2007,  R)
Pathfinder
A pretty good action film with some great battle scenes and quite bloody, brutal to. The story is very simple and straight forward and is enjoyable to watch if not quite as good as the old Arnie Conan films, but if you like those you should enjoy this as well.
56
The Marine (2006,  PG-13)
The Marine
Pure all out explosive, action fun.......and easy on the brain!
57
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) (2006,  R)
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)
A very good Russian film, the first in a triology about the battle between good and evil. Has some great SFX, if you like vampire films etc you should like this. A little weird at times but a very stylised film.
58
Eight Below (2006,  PG)
Eight Below
A Disney film all the family will enjoy. Especially fans of dogs, Huskies. The dogs are left behind in Antartica as a snow storm moves in. Will they be able to survive the harsh conditions, or be rescued in time?
59
World Trade Center (2006,  PG-13)
World Trade Center
Not the greatest of films to watch, but due to the fact it is based on one of the most shocking events in recent history makes it compelling viewing. It's not ladden with tons of news footage from the day but caputures the shock and scale of what happened very well.
Made from the point of view of 2 port authority workers who get trapped under the World trade centre and how they coped until rescued.
60
V for Vendetta (2006,  R)
V for Vendetta
A strange film very different to anything else. Good SFX but overall little action in this, rebel against the big bro government of the future film.
61
I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006,  R)
I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer
This 3rd installment takes a different direction to the first two. Still pretty good for a low budget straight to DVD film, has its moments.
62
The Black Dahlia (2006,  R)
The Black Dahlia
A good film, well made if a little confusing at times. Similar to L.A. Confidential.
63
The Grudge 2 (2006,  PG-13)
The Grudge 2
Not as good as the first one. It's Just basically more of the same, but second time round you know what to expect, some scenes were nearly identical to the first. Leaves too many loose ends as well, better off just watching the first. At least that feels more complete than this. Not scary at all.
64
Wilderness (2006,  R)
Wilderness
Low budget UK horror, looked great from trailer but bit of a let down overall, had great potential. Very gory.
65
The Breed (2006,  R)
The Breed
A pretty good horror/thriller as some friends get trapped on a remote island with a pack of wild rabid type dogs after them. Not scary or gory but pretty good overall. If you want more blood and guts try the very bloody Wilderness, where I think they got the idea for this from!
66
Ultraviolet (2006,  PG-13)
Ultraviolet
I was hoping for a lot more. If anything this has a bit too much cgi, although it helps with a comic book feel to it. Some scenes will make you think you're watching a computer game. It's a mix of Aeon Flux, Blade and Kill Bill but without the blood or gore of the last two. Could have been better.
67
Slither (2006,  R)
Slither
Another camp horror that feels more like a spoof than anything else. Will keep gore fans happy though.
68
Eragon (2006,  PG)
Eragon
Didn't live up to my expectations. Maybe it was meant for a younger audience, didn't really feel like a true epic fantasy story.
69
Hollow Man II (2006,  R)
Hollow Man II
This was straight to DVD release and it shows. The first was great, this is very average. It does has some gory moments though.
70
Casino Royale (2006,  PG-13)
Casino Royale
Started brilliantly, slowed a little in the middle but overall was enjoyable. Much grittier than other James Bond films.
71
Miami Vice (2006,  R)
Miami Vice
Disappointing really, was hoping for something along the lines of Heat. Not a great deal of action, quite serious in tone and didn't seem to tie up all the loose ends. Bad Boys 2 seems very similar but with better action and a few laughs to.
72
House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim (All Guts No Glory) (2006,  R)
House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim (All Guts No Glory)
I preferred the first, this tries to take it self seriously when it is so cheesey beyond belief. Based on a shooting game and barely has any shooting!?
73
Bloodrayne (2006,  R)
Bloodrayne
Another pretty bad Uwe Boll film, but not his worst! Had a lot of promise with a strong cast and based on a cool vampire hack and slash game. However this is pretty poor, none of the "stars' give a half decent performance and the fight choreography is very lame compared to most films of today, no energy or passion, very slow. There is a fair bit of blood, a Meat Loaf cameo and half decent CGI and that is it! Stick with Blade!
74
The Night Listener (2006,  R)
The Night Listener
Not very good at all. Very slow film with very little happening in it all based around one plot idea. Based on true events, however at 76 mins long there just isn't enough to interest you.
75
Catacombs (2008,  R)
Catacombs
I think this had potential with a good location for a horror, but overall it's no where near what it could have been. If this was a short story it might have been better but even at 85mins it feels way too long. The majority of the film features the girl running and screaming through tunnels in the darkness.....followed by more running through dark tunnels! The twist ending did start to become a bit obvious, well the first part anyway, and it has been done much better in many other horrors. If you did like this check out the more like this section.
76
Lucky Number Slevin (2006,  R)
Lucky Number Slevin
Very cool film with a good twist, if you like assassin films you should like this.
77
Turistas (Paradise Lost) (2006,  R)
Turistas (Paradise Lost)
A very good horror, although not as scary or gory as I thought it was going to be. Similar theme to hostel in that some backpacking tourists run into trouble off the beaten track and soon wish they never left home. If you liked Hostel or the Texas chainsaw massacre remake this is similar to those in many ways.
78
Running Scared (2006,  R)
Running Scared
Great little known thriller. If you like Goodfellas you should like this!
79
Unknown (2006,  Unrated)
Unknown
A very good if short thriller about 5 guys who wake up in a warehouse with short term memory loss. They deduct that 2 of them are hostages and 3 are kidnappers, but who is who?
Great idea for a thriller and it has a fine cast and a couple of twists along the way as you try to guess who the bad guys are. Worth checking out.
80
Southland Tales (2007,  R)
Southland Tales
A strange film set in the future with a confusing plot with deals with alternative energy, politics, world war 3 and the 4th dimension!! A bit long it has some good moments but a few lows as well. Overall just a bit odd.
81
Shrooms (2008,  Unrated)
Shrooms
A very average slasher that is a bit of a let down really. Not scary, gory or anything memorable about it and the ending was the only saving grace, but even that was half predictable.
82
Dead Mary (2006,  Unrated)
Dead Mary
This is quite a good horror film that does borrow a lot from other films like Bloody Mary, Cabin Fever and a few others. It's a little slow to start and it won't please gore fans, but it was much better than I expected it to be.
83
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006,  R)
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane
I'm really surprised at a lot of the average reviews for this. Maybe the hardcore horror fans were expecting a lot more gore, higher death toll, or maybe it's because this doesn't even feel like a true horror film. However I really enjoyed it and felt it was quite original with a great ending. It does remind me of another film with a similar ending but can't remember it right now. This is a very good film, well shot, with a good cast and a rememberable ending!
84
Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil (2006,  R)
Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil
A low budget sequel to the quite enjoyable 2001 film starring Gene Hackman. The original is head and shoulders above this. I would watch that or Black Hawk Down again instead of this. Though there are quite a lot of familiar faces in this. Catch it if it's on TV.
85
Date Movie (2006,  PG-13)
Date Movie
A very silly spoof film, poking fun at other comedies?! Not sure it really works, has it's funny moments and gross ones to. Mainly making fun of the meet the parents/ fockers, Hitch, and a whole bunch of rom-coms. If you like spoofs you might like it.
86
The Holiday (2006,  PG-13)
The Holiday
A great romantic comedy. One of the best I've seen right up there with Love Actually. It has a great cast and just has a quality feel about the whole film. A very entertaining feel good film. So if you normally avoid rom-coms you may have missed out on this little gem.
87
My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006,  PG-13)
My Super Ex-Girlfriend
A fairly decent turn at a rom-com with a difference. Has some funny scenes with a super hero girl who turns nasty after being broken up with. Anna Faris is good in this. Worth a watch next time it's on TV.
88
Road House 2: Last Call (2006,  R)
Road House 2: Last Call
A pretty decent if predictable action film. It works ok as a sequel although I don't think there are any character connections? Just the same style of plot but brought up to date. Some pretty good choreographed fight scenes make this slightly above average.
89
El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) (2006,  R)
El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth)
A very enjoyable film, that is well directed and has all round good production levels. It's almost like two films in one running side by side. It would have been a bit more interesting to see more of the fantasy characters and their world in which they live in. The film can be quite bloody and violent at times to which was a surprise, this is definitely for an adult audience.
90
The Devil Wears Prada (2006,  PG-13)
The Devil Wears Prada
A good film, although classed as a comedy there are not many laugh out moments. One more for the girls I guess or if you are really into fashion. An enjoyable film but it could have done with a better ending I thought.
91
The Flock (2008,  R)
The Flock
For a straight to DVD film this is actually a pretty good thriller. Gere and Claire Danes give good performances about a tough subject matter. They monitor sex offenders in the community, when a teenage girl is kidnapped in the area their suspicions are raised. A bit slow at the start but the second half of the film is good cat and mouse stuff. Don't expect much of Avril Lavigne in this though, a one scene cameo is all you get from her in this.
92
The Break-Up (2006,  PG-13)
The Break-Up
A very funny Rom-com without being too soppy. A lot of funny scenes that both sexes should enjoy as a couple try to get back at each other over their break up. A film many will relate to as the plans to out do each other keep escalating all the time as neither want to leave their apartment. Have to say though I think Jennifer had a body double for the nude scene, well some of it! Similar to War of the roses, What happens in Vegas.
93
Little Miss Sunshine (2006,  R)
Little Miss Sunshine
A great little comedy about a dysfunctional family making a road trip to a beauty pageant. Along the way all sorts of bizarre things happen. A great feel good comedy film.
94
You, Me and Dupree (2006,  PG-13)
You, Me and Dupree
A sort of mix of a few ideas from a few more successful rom-coms I felt. Has a few funny moments and a strong cast who are from some good comedies. Worth a watch but not a patch on the likes of Meet the parents.
95
John Tucker Must Die (2006,  PG-13)
John Tucker Must Die
A very good teen rom-com with a cool young cast. It has some good getting back at your ex jokes and scenes. Funnier than I thought it would be. A bit like Mean girls but on a lighter note.
96
Babel (2006,  R)
Babel
A very well made film and interesting idea. I just felt it was a bit too drawn out and didn't have the impact of something like Crash. Good story but might not be for everyone.
97
Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006,  PG)
Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties
A surprisingly good part animated comedy based on the Garfield comic strip. I liked this one more than the first one. This has plenty of other animals being voiced over by a range of well known actors including Bob Hoskins as a British bulldog and Vinnie Jones as a rottweiler, what else? With Bill Murray voicing Garfield. Perfect for kids and older fans of Garfield.
