A fost sau n-a fost?, (12:08 East of Bucharest) (2007, Unrated)
what i liked the most, i must say, was the off-on lighting sequences. the story is a bit boring, funny sometimes, but since the camera is very still and very left apart from the scenes, we don't find a connection between us and the characters/story. |

Black Book (Zwartboek) (2007, R)
Black Book is Carice van Houten. i give this film half more star because of her brilliance, and because hmm she's smokin' hot... overall the film was good, a bit pretentious, though. it tends to get a bit unreal with all the twists and life-saving coincidences, more like after the half, but still very enjoyable until the end. |

Ghosts (2007, Unrated)sometimes the promise of a better life or the chance to get some more money to help the beloved ones left behind at home, is enough to embark on a journey that can take several years, or even forever, by never coming back. this is a veridic story about a group of chinese illegal immigrants, and their struggle for their own survival, and, consequently, their families at home, in a foreign, hostile country. |

The Good Shepherd (2006, R)
even with a briliant cast it was nothing but a plain film about espionage. it had some small thrills, some mysteries, and i admit i kinda liked the plot, largely based on the true story of CIA's creation, yet, it was a bit confusing, if you don't pay an accurate attention to the details, and it was also somewhat boring. an idea reinforced by the almost 3 hours it takes to end. |

i loved the animation effect this film had, an excelent idea. now, the film isn't superb because the schizo twists is nothing new to the cinema today, and although the ending was surprising, it was nothing new either. |

The Libertine (2006, R)
seemed too much fake. even the acting, and there are some scene transitions that are completely confusing, and i got myself thinking what did Dunmore wanted to achieve from this. i hated the candle light concept also, even though it seemed a good idea at first, but by seeing it, in my opinion, it was not that good. and even Depp couldn't pull this through... |

49 Up (2006, Unrated)
first of all, this five star rating is a general rating to the whole series, aswel as the review. secondly, its a magnificent study, more than anything else. more than the label of documentary or tv show. I saw the whole series, from when the subjects were still children, until they're 49, and I must say, its so damn interesting to see and reflect on how people, in general, evolve, wether mentally or physically. Its also briliant because it provides a comparison basis to the viewers, as it did for me. Its no problem to be 7 and say you want to be an astronaut and prefer to play instead of thinking about girls, its no problem to be 21 and don't have a clue of what to do in the future. these are just some examples of some things that are all part of life and growing up, and this doc proves that quite well. |
