Blindness (2008, R)
this just didn't made that "click" on me. the film seemed kinda forced in some aspects, like dialogs that seemed fake, or the graphic overraction on the "diseased" blind people behavior. overall the film was ok, giving us a view on what could be the extreme reactions to such sudden unability. yet, since it was from the creator of City of God, and it was based on a novel by Saramago (a nobel prize winner, and most of all, a portuguese), i had put great expectations on it, so i may say i felt somewhat disapointed on the result. could've been worse though. |

Body of Lies (2008, R)
i still do not understand why i went to see this... its nothing more than another americanized action film (americans/CIA/FBI/etc as the good guys, always), like many more out there, so in fashion these days. |

Burn After Reading (2008, R)
a very strange black comedy, like most of the Coen bros films, with several stories converging and connecting to each other, reaching a somewhat calm climax. there are some funny parts, and the characters were so damn stupid, in a good way. and although the storyline seemed a bit pointless, its a good film nevertheless. |

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008, PG-13)
very good, very good indeed. i loved the whole moral of it. somewhat long, but very enjoyable. the direction was beyond amazing, although not much of Fincher's previous style, he still proved he can be versatile. the effects/cinematography were pretty good also. |

Gomorrah (Gomorra) (2008, Unrated)
really intense and cruel. great for those who enjoyed City of God or La Haine, where the rules of the street are, most of the time, the rules of the gun. |

The Happening (2008, R)
Mr. Shyamalan, what happened? you did not disapointed me with Sixth Sense, The Village or Unbreakable. but you certainly did with this... piece of crap. bad choice on actors, Deschanel, though i find her way cute with her big blue eyes, has no profile for dramatics, definitly not. and Wahlberg? geez bad top acting... the movie seemed a bit nonsense, with lack of feelings, i mean, natural feelings that you should probably have after seeing a dead body. |

Lĺt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in) (2008, R)
i've never been much interested in vampire movies, though there are a few that can pull up my attention, like the case of Interview with the Vampire. now i can add another vampiresc flick to those few, though Let the Right One In is not the convencional vampire film that people are used to see... gladly. |

The Wrestler (2008, R)
totally different style by Aronofsky, yet it doesn't lose any quality. i never liked wrestling, i mean, i hate wrestling, so i was somehow putting this film aside when it came out. but then i heard it was from Aronofsky and i got myself wondering if he was like a wrestling fan or did he gone crazy enough to make one of those typical boring american films you get to see on tv. well both options were wrong. Aronofsky made a film concerning wrestling alright, but he then foccus more on the life of a singular wrestler, and thats when Rourke enters, making a performance that will grant him an oscar for sure. the wrestler is about the fall, and not the rise, of a living in the 80's success wrestler, who loses everything through the course of his life. |

The Tracey Fragments (2007, R)
damn! what a ride! ellen page's performance was brilliant as always, the film in fragments concept was beyond amazing, never thought it could be that thrilling (i had the idea it would be alotta confusing), the story was, at first glance, weird but then you understand it all, and the score was "wow", thats the kind of sound i love. |

Zeitgeist: Addendum (2008, Unrated)
Think about our today's society, our financial system, our corrupt politicians, our beliefs, our use of resources, but mainly, think about we as humanity. this documentary is not suppose to brain wash people, its not suppose to create another religion, with a messiah or such, it is supposed to make you THINK! |

Kung Fu Panda (2008, PG)
although i had some suspicion on this kung fu panda, in fact, i found it rather amusing and couldn't agree more on its message. it tries to be funny, and it is at times yes, but are the spectacular animated visual effects, its message, and all the martial art moves that makes it worthy to have a look. |

Twilight (2008, PG-13)
i saw some girls' histery yesterday on tv when buying the dvd and i couldn't believe my eyes when they were jumping and screaming like kangaroos on speed. this is nothing but cheesy stuff for the teenage masses, and i got the confirmation after seeing the film. i loved the score though, maybe thats why i rated it half a star higher than i should. |

Che: Part Two (Guerrilla) (2008, R)
if the first part of this Che focuses on the events that created a legend, with the Cuban Revolution, the second part centers on the events that killed Guevara and the ideals he was professing. on an overall view, concerning these two parts, its an excellent depiction of his achievements and conditions on which he fought under, against the social injustices. |

Che: Part One (The Argentine) (2009, R)
a great bio, or should i say instead, partial bio (since this first part only depicts the guerilla fight against Batista, in the Cuban revolution) who captivates even the biggest anti-revolutionary soul. 'Che' Guevara, amazingly portraited here by Del Toro, is shown not only as a revolutionary, but also as a great thinker, and most of all, a just soul. all qualities he surely had. Soderbergh proves that there is a real and inspiring story behind all the merchandising created around an iconic image.. |
