The Dark Knight (2008, PG-13)
A total masterpiece. The acting was flawless, while Heath Ledger stole the film with his incredible performance. I did not realise how great an actor he was until i saw this film. I was glued to the screen and totally forgot that it was an actor playing the Joker. The film is probably the best super hero film ever made. Yet it doesn't feel like you're watching a comic book movie. Its dark and complex, has great action scenes, yet also is intelligent. While the film lasts for almost three hours, not one minute of it was boring and it kept my attention all the way through. It was as amazing as i expected it to be and it surely lived up to all the hype. Heath Ledger certainly deserved to win the best supporting actor Oscar. Overall a fantastic film and one of the best sequels ever made in my opinion, alongside the likes of The Empire Strikes Back, Terminator 2 and Aliens. |

Iron Man (2008, PG-13)
Very good film and possibly the most well made Marvel film to date. Action and good dialogue without going overboard with the action. Good acting from Robert Downey Jr and the rest of the cast. I thought it was a bit slow to start, but once it picked up speed it was enjoyable. The villian in the film seemed a bit hollow and rushed, but apart from that there wasn't much to complain about. The special effects were excellent. Watch till the end of the credits to see an extra sceen with a cameo by Samuel L Jackson. |

The Incredible Hulk (2008, PG-13)
It had a good cast and pretty good performances. The effects were certainly decent too. However i felt the plot let it down a bit. It could have explained the back story a lot more clearly than it did. There also could of been some more characterisation. I feel Iron Man is a superior film, but this is still worth a watch. |

Taken (2009, PG-13)
An excellent fast paced action film. Some small similarities between this and Man on Fire and the Bourne films. Liam Neeson was surprisingly convincing in his role and delivered a solid performance. The basics of the plot, while no doubt done many times before were different due to the sex trafficing aspect. It was thoroughly enjoyable watching Neeson kick the crap out of everyone and i suggest you see this film. You won't be disappointed! |
