Surf's Up (2007,  PG)
Surf's Up
I like the mockumentary style. Good surfing movie, interesting. Nice water on lens. The animation is really good.
2
Arctic Tale (2007,  G)
Arctic Tale
I'm aware that this story might be fabricated, but I like the story a lot. I'm also moved by these nature type of films. I wasn't even bothered by Queen Latifah's commentary. Save the polar bears!
3
The Kid (1921,  Unrated)
The Kid
Sweet story. The kid is adorable and very famous from what I read of him in wikipedia. I love Chaplin's antics.
4
Between Showers (In Wrong Thunder and Lightning)(Charlie and the Umbrella)(The Flirts) (1914,  Unrated)
Between Showers (In Wrong Thunder and Lightning)(Charlie and the Umbrella)(The Flirts)
The quality of this 10 minute short wasn't the best. An "OK" film, not one of my favorites.
5
Tango Tangles (Charlie's Recreation) (Music Hall) (1914,  Unrated)
Tango Tangles (Charlie's Recreation) (Music Hall)
It's weird seeing Chaplin without his little moustache. Just a short film about guys fighting over a girl.
6
Cruel, Cruel Love (Lord Helpus) (1914,  PG)
Cruel, Cruel Love (Lord Helpus)
It's only water.
7
A Film Johnnie (Charlie the Actor) (1914,  Unrated)
A Film Johnnie (Charlie the Actor)
I like when Chaplin squeezes the water out of himself.
8
His Favorite Pastime (Charlie's Reckless Fling) (1914,  Unrated)
His Favorite Pastime (Charlie's Reckless Fling)
Watch out for that swinging door!
9
Kid Auto Races at Venice (The Pest) (1914,  Unrated)
Kid Auto Races at Venice (The Pest)
This is notable b/c it's the first film Chaplin wears his famous costume. It says so in the beginning. Haha.
10
Mabel's Strange Predicament (Hotel Mixup) (1914,  Unrated)
Mabel's Strange Predicament (Hotel Mixup)
Maybe I'm not paying enough attention but I have a hard time figuring out what's going on in the clips! Anyway, I like the dog in this short, although it has nothing to do with the story.
11
Making a Living (A Busted Johnny)(Doing His Best)(Take My Picture)(Troubles) (1914,  Unrated)
Making a Living (A Busted Johnny)(Doing His Best)(Take My Picture)(Troubles)
This one was so fast moving.
12
Jungfrukällan (The Virgin Spring) (1960,  Unrated)
Jungfrukällan (The Virgin Spring)
Only the second Bergman film I've seen, the other being The Seventh Seal. Apparantly this film is based on a ballad, it certainly paced like one. I don' t know if it's a common mood of his films but both films so far felt very bleak, the atmosphere and acting is very dark and foreboding.

I like it. I like it a lot.
13
Smultronstället (Wild Strawberries) (1957,  Unrated)
Smultronstället (Wild Strawberries)
I liked this bittersweet film a lot. It reminded me of Ikiru in a way. I would rate this as third in my list of favorite Bergman films. Again, I love how all the films look and I love the pacing. I'm glad I got the Bergman boxset for Christmas :)
14
The Girl Next Door (2007,  R)
The Girl Next Door
Huge disappointment. I read all these reviews about how brutal and horrifying it was and was left with this Lifetime channel trash. I hate the way this movie looks. I bet Goosebumps would've made this a scarier movie.
15
There Will Be Blood (2007,  R)
There Will Be Blood
Thank goodness PTA got Daniel Day-Lewis. He carried this movie on his shoulders.
16
Easy Street (1917,  Unrated)
Easy Street
Charlie Chaplin becomes a cop.
17
Smiles Of A Summer Night (1955,  Unrated)
Smiles Of A Summer Night
Ingmar Bergman's idea of comedy. A movie about switching partners.
18
Stay (2005,  R)
Stay
The fancy camera shots got on my nerves after a while. As for the story, I'm glad I didn't pay to see this in a theater.
19
Funny Games (1998,  Unrated)
Funny Games
I definitely cannot wait for the remake of this movie. I love the opening and closing shot and the music (John Zorn FTW). This is only the third Haneke film I've seen and so far so good. The atmosphere is bleak and so realistic. I love the way his movies look. I can't wait to watch more. I took off half a star just for the rewind scene which I loved and hated at the same time.
20
Eastern Promises (2007,  R)
Eastern Promises
So far the Cronenberg/Mortenson team up is win. Viggo is convincing as a Russian Mobster.
21
Beauty and The Beast (La Belle et la bête) (1946,  Unrated)
Beauty and The Beast (La Belle et la bête)
There were some really awesome effects. I don't prefer this over the Disney version. At least the Disney version had a singing candle and an ottoman that was like a dog! Just kidding, really.
22
La Boulangère de Monceau (The Baker of Monceau)(The Girl at the Monceau Bakery) (1963,  Unrated)
La Boulangère de Monceau (The Baker of Monceau)(The Girl at the Monceau Bakery)
The first of Eric Rohmer that I've seen and it's impressive. I definitely want to check out all of his movies.
23
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Johnny Depp and the graphics are really good.
24
The Heartbreak Kid (2007,  R)
The Heartbreak Kid
Had some REALLY funny scenes. Typical Farelly comedy. Wasn't disappointed.
25
3:10 to Yuma (2007,  R)
3:10 to Yuma
I want to see the original film to see if it ends the same way. Terrific cast , set, and costume design. Awful score.
26
License to Wed (2007,  PG-13)
License to Wed
Rom-com that was bordering on really really creepy. I thought Robin Williams was almost as creepy as his role in One Hour Photo. I didn't think it was as bad as the critics had slammed it. I really wanted to see it for the Office US cast cameos.
27
Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006,  PG)
Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties
I really enjoyed the first movie so I had high hopes for this one. A good cast lending their voices. Good mix of CG and live action animals.
28
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
This could've been trimmed by an hour, really. The weakest of the three. However, the ending really surprised me and made me sad. Ending alone pushed it up a star rating.
29
M (1931,  Unrated)
M
Back in college I rented this movie from the library but never finished it. Forward about 5 years to 2007 and I did my second attempt to watch it and STILL did not finish it. Finally, I managed to stay awake (not that it's boring, poor timing on my part) and finish the film and it's a great serial killer film. The transfer wasn't that great, though. I love Peter Lorre.
30
Eyes Without a Face (,  Unrated)
Eyes Without a Face
Glad I finally finished watching this movie. Christiane would make a great Halloween costume.
31
Corridors of Blood (1963,  Unrated)
Corridors of Blood
A "horror" movie about sleeping gas? Some really great shots and always awesome screen presence of Boris Karloff, but overall, kinda... dull? The Haunted Strangler is a lot better in this Criterion set.
32
The Ten (2007,  R)
The Ten
Although there are some very LOL scenes in the movie, it can't help that this is overall bad. I don't know much about The State but I loved Wet Hot American Summer and Reno! 911 Movie.
33
Yojimbo (1961,  Unrated)
Yojimbo
I love the scene in the beginning where the dog runs out with a man's hand in his mouth. I'm pretty sure there is the same scene in David Lynch's Wild at Heart. Kurosawa and Mifune - always a great pair.
34
The Last House on the Left (1972,  Unrated)
The Last House on the Left
"Sigmund Frood?" I've heard the controversy behind this movie but maybe I didn't get the UR version? Very 70s low budget. The music made me want to shoot myself. In the face.
35
Fun With Dick and Jane (2005,  PG-13)
Fun With Dick and Jane
WOW. I was not expecting that this would be a really good, clever movie. Produced by Brian Grazer, Judd Apatow had a writing credit, Alec Baldwin, and cameo by... Ralph Nader?! Credits thank Enron, Adelphia, Worldcom, Cendant, Arthur Anderson, among others.
36
Au Revoir Les Enfants (1987,  PG)
Au Revoir Les Enfants
This movie progressively went from uninteresting to amazing. Technically, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Just one of those moments where the first 30/45 minutes aren't cutting it. It really is an emotional movie.
37
Death Sentence (2007,  R)
Death Sentence
Terribly shitty movie. A prime example of the ineffective use of music and how to NOT do emotional buildup. Well, there was too many emotional scenes with no reason for it. The best part of the movie is the final 10 minutes or so of the final revenge move. Reminiscent of 90s HK cop drama/bullet ballet film.
38
Sicko (2007,  PG-13)
Sicko
A good watch, informative but I'm still skeptical with everything. Well, aside from some really overbearing scenes, you win this time, Michael Moore.
39
The Cure (The Water Cure) (1917,  Unrated)
The Cure (The Water Cure)
Why were the people drinking water from a hole in the ground? It's cool and bizarre at the same time.
40
Rush Hour 3 (2007,  PG-13)
Rush Hour 3
Crazy that Roman Polanski (starring in his first American film in 15 years) and Max Von Sydow have roles in this movie. Also, all the stars that turned down roles or weren't able to appear in the film (Steven Seagal, Gong Li, etc.). Always watch the outtakes during the credit roll. Jackie Chan film staple.
41
Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others) (2006,  R)
Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others)
RIP, great actor. Moving drama that reminded me of One Hour Photo minus the creepiness.
42
The Brothers Grimm (2005,  PG-13)
The Brothers Grimm
Sad that I watched this the day before Heath Ledger died. It wasn't a great movie. The only good thing about it were the pretty faces and special effects.
43
Young Mr. Lincoln (1939,  Unrated)
Young Mr. Lincoln
Surprisingly entertaining movie. There were some actions the characters made that I didn't like/approve of, but overall, I enjoyed the acting and the story. I didn't expect the majority of the film to revolve around a murder and courtroom drama. I guess I just don't know much about Honest Abe.
44
DOA: Dead or Alive (2007,  PG-13)
DOA: Dead or Alive
It's a terrible shame this movie didn't get the recognition it deserves. It is a REALLY WELL DONE action/fighting movie. It reminds me of an updated Mortal Kombat movie but with more emphasis on girls and a lot more emphasis on entertainment. Corey Yuen is a TERRIFIC director who has done some of my favorite movies, notably Fong Sai Yuk (The Legend) from way back, and also The Transporter, something more recent. YES it is cheesy and some may say it's sexist. I am a female and I say it is fast-paced and entertaining. Looking to kick back for a fun popcorn night? Pop in this DVD and enjoy the ride.
45
War (Rogue Assassin) (2007,  R)
War (Rogue Assassin)
A very good action movie UNTIL the last 15 minutes and the huge revelation. The second movie with Devon Aoki and Kane Kosugi today. Totally unintentional. The action sequences were fun. Not a bad rental.
46
Mars Attacks! (1996,  PG-13)
Mars Attacks!
Possibly the most accurate depiction of a Martian invasion.
47
The Benchwarmers (2006,  PG-13)
The Benchwarmers
I'm surprised I sat through this movie considering it's just about unbearable (for me) and it's a cast I dislike at varying levels. Nice Sony, Pizza Hut, and Netzero product placements. Gave it a star just for playing Talking Heads.
48
Where the Red Fern Grows (2003,  PG)
Where the Red Fern Grows
Not as sad as the original. Felt like it was more for marketing lame country songs.
49
The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007,  PG-13)
The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters
I love video games. Not really the old ones, but in general... I love video games.
50
Tokyo Drifter (1966,  Unrated)
Tokyo Drifter
Tetsu is really likable. He looks like a manga/anime character. Reminds me of GTO. I liked the music as well.
51
Nanny McPhee (2006,  PG)
Nanny McPhee
One of the best family movies I've seen recently. I've been on a fairy tale kick, reading Aesop's Fables, Grimm's Fairy Tales, and now Hans Christian Andersen. This movie really shines on the basic premise of fairy tales. Also, the cast is terrific, I wasn't expecting so many decent actors in this movie.
52
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007,  PG-13)
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry
Once you get past all the offensive humor, this is a hilarious movie. I'm not particularly a fan of Happy Madison Productions, either.
53
The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2007,  Unrated)
The Wind That Shakes the Barley
Cillian Murphy is great. The torture scene really got to me.
54
Open Season (2006,  PG)
Open Season
Computer animated films are a dime a dozen these days. Here's one you can skip. Stars for random cuteness and chuckles.
55
Grip of the Strangler (The Haunted Strangler) (1958,  Unrated)
Grip of the Strangler (The Haunted Strangler)
Boris Karloff is great! Thanks Flixster for finally adding this :)
56
La Double Vie de Véronique (The Double Life of Veronique) (1991,  R)
La Double Vie de Véronique (The Double Life of Veronique)
My first Kieslowski. I liked all the stylized shot and the music.
57
Minyeo-neun goerowo (200 Pounds Beauty) (2006,  Unrated)
Minyeo-neun goerowo (200 Pounds Beauty)
I LOVE Korean rom-coms. This wasn't one of my favorites but it was enjoyable. It gets super sobby at the end but eh, what do you expect?
58
Good Luck Chuck (2007,  R)
Good Luck Chuck
Dane Cook has a really annoying voice. I saw the UR version so there was lots more sex and nudity. I felt tainted after watching a WAY too long sequence of Dane Cook in different sex positions. Overall, not a bad comedy, what I expected.
59
The Brave One (2007,  R)
The Brave One
Death Sentence didn't get it right and neither does this. At least DS had an awesome 10 final minutes. To give it credit, it is a bearable film and the final shot saved it for me.
60
Kicking and Screaming (1995,  R)
Kicking and Screaming
First, although I DID want to see this movie, I thought I was renting the Will Ferrell comedy. Second, I heard that this was a bad movie and I agree, the dialogue made me want to start kicking and screaming. At least I liked Squid and the Whale.
61
Titicut Follies (1967,  Unrated)
Titicut Follies
Sad and disturbing.
62
Underdog (2007,  PG)
Underdog
I think I would've liked it better if Underdog was a little boy and not Jason Lee. I do like Amy Adams as Polly and that she was a King Cavalier Cocker Spaniel (I think?). Nice to see different breeds, too, like the Rottweiler, German Shepherds, Chinese Crested, bulldog, pug. Shih tzu got a shoutout but there wasn't one in the movie :( Basic hero story, father/son movie. Also, references to Superman, Lady & the Tramp among others. Not familiar with the Underdog cartoon so I can't compare.
63
Branded to Kill (1967,  Unrated)
Branded to Kill
This movie didn't really appeal to me. It's the most weird and sexual and... weirdly sexual Suzuki movie I've seen. I can see how it's a cult classic and how it's influenced some famous directors but it's not one of my favorites. The last 30 minutes were awesome.
64
Beethoven's 2nd (1994,  PG)
Beethoven's 2nd
Funny movie. For some reason, this was better years after I saw it the first time. St. Bernard puppies are so cute. Plus it's fun to point out some actors in their earlier days.
65
The Tramp (1915,  Unrated)
The Tramp
Charlie is a hobo, works on a farm, likes a girl.
66
In the Park (Charlie in the Park ) (1915,  PG)
In the Park (Charlie in the Park )
The description makes it sound better than it looks. I don't recall anything about jumping in a lake, either. I thought it was hard to tell what the hell was going on. It's funny watching Chaplin tumble down steps, though.
67
The Champion (Charlie the Champion) (Battling Charlie),(Champion Charlie) (1915,  PG)
The Champion (Charlie the Champion) (Battling Charlie),(Champion Charlie)
Fun watching them throw punches! I also muted the volume and set the scenes to whatever Francis was listening to. The music: Fleetwood Mac's "I Know I'm Not Wrong", Camera Obscura's "If Looks Could Kill", The Kink's "Waterloo Sunset", Korgis' "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime." Really. I think any music would've sufficed, you just have to make the music relate to the movie scene. Original scores are good, but this makes it fun :)
68
The Aristocats (1970,  G)
The Aristocats
I love the animation and the sweet songs and cute animals! There's a hilarious "Large Marge" type scene in the movie with O'Malley the cat. Also, the song "Scales and Arpeggios" is sooo cute. I love it. Another fave sing a long song.
69
Oliver & Company (1988,  G)
Oliver & Company
I like kids movies that deal with a lot of serious grown up issues. "Why Should I Worry" was one of my fave Disney Sing a Long songs. Also, "You and Me".
70
We Own the Night (2007,  R)
We Own the Night
Some intense scenes. Liked it, but nothing to rave over.
71
Michael Clayton (2007,  R)
Michael Clayton
Good acting, good story, was a bit underwhelmed by it. I love the closing credits.
72
High School (1968,  Unrated)
High School
Awesome doc around Northeast High School.
73
101 Dalmatians (One Hundred and One Dalmatians) (1961,  G)
101 Dalmatians (One Hundred and One Dalmatians)
I really miss this animation.
74
Lady and the Tramp (1955,  G)
Lady and the Tramp
Not one of my favorite Disney movies. I love all the stereotypes/accents, though.
