Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2) (2008, PG-13)
Visually this movie is just as outstanding as Pan's Labyrinth. I really enjoy the immersive world he creates. The Troll market had more creatures going on than the creature cantina. The tooth fairies were also pretty damn cool. I really enjoyed watching this movie, a very fun experience. Perhaps the story was lacking, but everything else made up for it. |

Bolt (2008, PG)
I thought this was a very well made, well paced movie. The animation is top notch. Travolta does a great job with the voice acting. I saw in 3D and the visuals are outstanding. I highly recommend seeing the 3D version. I liked the shots the movie took at cats. Cats suck. Probably the best animated movie I've see this year. |

The Incredible Hulk (2008, PG-13)
Much better and more entertaining than the 2003 version. Some major improvements have been made to make this a top notch super hero movie. I like the homage paid to the series, and I like that Banner is a fugitive. The effects are pretty damn good. Would rather see Jennifer Connelly again rather than Liv Tyler. |

The Wrestler (2008, R)
Great acting from Rourke. A very well made movie. Love the idea of someone stuck in life so bad it becomes the end of them. Evolve or devolve. It's the Freebird syndrome. It is a little slow paced, but the story keeps you interested. Marissa Tomei is still smoking hot and enjoyed her scenes especially. |

Choke (2008, R)
I had to think about what I wanted to say about this movie. I did like it. It is in a similar style to Fight Club (which is one of my favorite movies ever). It's a different movie that I see could rub people the wrong way. It deals with sex bluntly. Sam Rockwell was very good in his role. So anyway, I did like it and would recommend it to some but not all. |

Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008, R)
Pretty good comedy by Kevin Smith. I liked the first half better than the second. Basically, some raunchy, snappy Smith dialogue, some raunchy sex stuff and some romance. I liked how the two main characters start to fall for each other. Not great, but entertaining. I really liked Elizabeth Banks in this movie, I think she did a great job. |

The Wackness (2008, R)
This is a different movie, but pretty good. It starts out slow, and it's paced kind of slow, but it has interesting characters. I really liked Ben Kingsley's character. He by far was the most interesting. It was also fun to see Mary-Kate Olsen as a hippie druggie having sex with Ben Kingsley in a phone booth. I might relate a little more to it if I lived in NY. Overall a interesting, different movie. |

The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008, PG-13)
A decent remake, but not great. I like the progression of updating this film, and most of it works. Too much of the kid, it gets tiring. Also, hearing Keanu Reeves speaking Chinese dialog was really funny. That was almost worth the price of admission. In the end, it just comes up a little short and the original is still better. |

The Happening (2008, R)
Well, another disappointing outing for M. Night Shyamalanadingdong. Hey does a good job establishing tone and tension, but then he forgets what to do with it, and give us a boring disjointed ending. I got tired of Zooey D. looking bewildered at the camera. The lion attack scene was too hokey for words. The only thing happening in this flick is me being bored. |

Australia (2008, PG-13)
This movie was truly an epic...an epic waste of time. It was directed by Baz Luhrmann, the same guy that did Moulin Rouge, and I hate that movie. It has the same gay style beginning and it never gets interesting. Many of the scenes look terribly fake. Plus it goes on about 40 minutes too long. Not as disappointing as Indiana Jones, but just as bad. |

Disaster Movie (2008, PG-13)
The title says it all. I didn't laugh at one of the so called gags. You know it's bad when half the movie is cuts to reaction shots of the people in the movie reacting to the so called jokes. OK, I admit this is worse than Crystal Skull, but I had no expectations for this movie, so it wasn't as much of a let down. |

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008, PG-13)
I have a better title. Indiana Jones and the pile of crap. You think after 20 years, Spielberg, Lucas and Ford was come up with something better to offer. The CG is simply terrible. Blanchett is the only one that acts like she is actually interested in being in the movie. Karen Allen appears like she is drunk and is painful to watch. You can tell Lucas wrote the script because the dialog is terrible. I am going to forget this movie was made and watch the first three good ones. Oh and screw Shia LaBeouf and his stupid monkeys. |
