Knowing (2009, PG-13)
A very enjoyable film and although a big budget film it doesn't overload you with SFX scenes. It's part action, disaster film but with a good solid story line to it. The action/disaster scenes are very intense and not seen on this scale before. Not everyone will enjoy the way it ends but overall a very good film worth seeing on the big screen. |

Terminator Salvation (2009, PG-13)
A very good addition to the series, better than the 3rd. Full of near non-stop action through out. A whole new range of terminators are on show and there are some great SFX/ action scenes. Some might not like the plot as it does differ from the first 3 where the action is pretty much one on one. This is very much a full on war. Go see it. |

Taken (2009, PG-13)
A very good nitty-gritty action/thriller. It packs a real punch not just for the great action scenes and fights but also for the storyline and good acting. I wasn't convinced at first at casting Liam Neeson in this type of role, but he plays the part of a doting father hell bent on revenge and getting his daughter back very well. |

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009, PG-13)
A very good sequel with even more bots and action on a bigger scale. Great SFX again and plenty of funny moments as well. Maybe a slightly less WOW factor second time round after the impact of the first. Very enjoyable and worth seeing on the big screen. |

Friday the 13th (2009, R)
A very good "re-imaging" NOT a re-make! I can't believe how many people have said it's a remake, Jason wasn't in the first one hello! Rant over. |

My Bloody Valentine 3-D (2009, R)
A pretty average slasher film and definitely based around the 3-D, it uses as many scenes as it can for this effect. I only saw it on DVD but you can just tell what scenes, effects were done for the 3-D parts. Very bloody and gory in places, with a slight twist if you can call it that. Overall pretty good but no doubt more fun in 3-D mode. |

The Grudge 3 (2009, R)
An ok 3rd installment, although straight to DVD release. Lower budget but the production is pretty good, but it's just not as creepy as the first two. The boy that appears at times was weird in the first two in this it looks like an older actor was used. The same goes for Kayako, in the first two she was very strange and creepy in this she just looks very white? For those who really liked the first two films. |

The International (2009, R)
I thought this was a good conspiracy action/ thriller with a good cast. It's a very entertaining film with a good plot, it's enjoyable watching all the plot lines unfold and the connections made to take them on to the next lead. The film is shot in many locations including New York, Milan, Turkey and almost has a slight Bond, Bourne ultimatum feel to it. The shoot out at the Guggenheim gallery in New York has been one of the best I've seen since Heat. A solid well made film that should appeal to action, thriller fans or fans of the similar films mentioned. |
