1	City of Life and Death (2009, Unrated) One might raise the hand and question the authenticity of the director's responsibility for executing a precise account of horrifying events,or the sympathy he showed towards Hideo Nakaizumi's role of the Japanese private or maybe giving Gao Yuanyuan her most mature performance to date.Maybe nothing will happen at all and the film will exhume under the roaring blockbusters.Whatever the result will be,Lu Chuan's crescendo is here to stay. Jancso's The Red and the White in pre-WWII Nanking.
2	Das weiße Band (The White Ribbon) (2009, R)
3	Strella (2009, Unrated) A masculine movie in spite of the exceptional twist somewhere in the middle,Koutras is evolving,leaving behind aliens and bourgeois salons,there's simply a bohemian state of free-spirited individuals (with a fine sense of rhythm in the frame by frame observance of the social status) alongside the neglect for but also the casualty of "strange" people. Orfanou playing the titular transsexual sparkles in her debut and Kokiasmenos presents a stiffed ex-inmate,beginning a chain reaction stretching to a (curiously enough) panegyric finale.

6	Coraline (2009, PG) Tremendous character for a post-teen jubilation,imagination gone wild and alluring events come to life.Selick has definitely worked hard but it left me a wee bit cold.Fairytale in an eccentric manner.

8	Up (2009, PG) I wonder whether Pixar wanted to embrace old age or express its sentiment towards the longing for youth.Beats me,Up is a jolly portrait of 2 largely different personalities,with the same passion for journeys beyond imagination.Spot-on for Pixar indeed yet it left me with an unsatisfactory opinion in my head.Inside jokes aren't as they used to be and the whole sub-plots were pretty inferior to what Docter and co. did in Monsterers Inc.The dogs are cult animations though!!!

14	Brüno (Bruno) (2009, R) Horse-shit and that's not an exaggeration!Our brave,intrepid "performance artist" (so much for the actual profession) is once again inventing a new mockery against the rules of engagement,where their primary source lies in the moralistic values of conservatives.OK,we got it once,Borat (the movie,not the man) had some satirical turnarounds,what does Bruno have?Almost the same characteristics as Ali G and Borat too only these cockroaches were heading towards misogyny...but aren't misogyny and sexism equally pathetic terms?

16	Watchmen (2009, R) Anarchy's drastic "genitalia" was rarely shown as a stupefied emotion in mainstream productions and Snyder's crematory is not to be taken for granted!So we fill our bellies with top notch trampolines,Matrix remnants,sex scenes like kitchen tapestry and the soundtrack comes and goes from Mozart to Dylan. Moore must immediately ban all studios from ever adapting (again) a creation of his on the big screen.For what it's worth,I won't neglect the well-portrayed characters of Comedian and Rorschach.
