It was nothing special but the twist at the end was great and the costumes were stunning. Also is it me or is Zoe Tapper starting to appear in almost everything that is on tv?
The first half was a bit slow but towards the end i really got into the movie. Adam Brody,Kristen Stewart and even the little girl played by Mackenzie Vega all portrayed their characters well. Meg Ryan was a little plastic in more ways than one, meow.
Enjoyed it more than i thought i would,it was good but not great. The storyline was interesting and there were some great scenes including the final scene which looked amazing.
My 12 year old son loved the movie and is now the proud owner of a V mask.
I was in the mood for a good action film and the storyline sounded quite good but the whole movie was ruined by Jason Statham,he is utter crap. The movie had almost ended and i decided to rate it a 1 and a half stars BUT the last 15 minutes were great and i loved the twist so it gets 3 stars from me.
Wow Luke Perry still looks hot, wish i could say the same about C. Thomas Howell but he looks a great deal older than he should do and he looks really withdrawn.
I enjoyed this movie,it was good but it could of been much better. Also i was a bit dim whilst watching it because i thought the girl was only suppose to be a young teen,it was only towards the end of the movie that i realised she was suppose to be a grown woman.
Update - the more i think about this movie the less i like it.
I did not enjoy this as much as other movies i have seen that are about football hooligans but it was a good watchable movie. Cass was a very likeable character and i especially liked the scenes which featured Cass and his adopted mother Doll. It was also a very realistic movie and Nathalie Press portrayed the unhappy girlfriend Elaine excellently, she is a great actress.
This movie was okay and i loved the costumes, they were beautiful but overall i prefered the BBCs 2003 version even though it was done on a much smaller budget and was not as good to look at.
In regards to both films it is sickening to see what people will put their children through so that they, the elders, get power and wealth.
What i loved about both movies were the final scenes where we see a young Elizabeth running through the grass, simply beautiful.
Average TV movie with a very simple storyline. I would of liked to see more of Eva Longoria Parkers character Jeanie as she was very likeable and sweet.
I am not a big fan of the Alien or Predator movies and i did not see the first AVP so i dont know the background of why the Predators were enemies with the Aliens. I thought it started really slow for a movie that only lasts 86 minutes and i never really got into it and my mind kept wandering. Another two things that bugged me were a)the movie was really dark and b)i couldnt tell the difference between the Alien and Predators until i spotted the Predators long things on his head,oh and actually another thing was c)was there more than one Predator? I couldnt work it out lol. Anyway glad i have watched it and it was worth watching once but its nothing special, wont be going out of my way to watch it again.
Very sweet movie, the bees were so very cute. Beeautifully shot and i loved it when the bees decided to start making honey again and the song Here Comes The Son was playing.
Red Rover (aka The Hauntin Within) is the tale of two siblings played by William Baldwin and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, they inherit an old house on an island, unknown to them the house is cursed and everything is not as it seems.
This movie is actually better than it looks and sounds,it was very picturesque and the house and estate looked creepy and eerie. The horror is slow and subtle, like the old horror movies and although i did not find it scary it did make my daughter have chills down her back quite a few times. If you like your horror bloody and gory then you probably wont enjoy it but if you enjoy movies like The Haunting or The Others its worth a watch.
Amy and Isabelle is set in 1971 in a small town called Shirley Falls,it is the story of a single mother(Isabelle) and her teenage daughter(Amy) who have nothing in common and their relationship is very stained. Isabelles character is uptight, she shows signs of OCD and is very overprotective with her daughter. When Isabelle discovers Amy has been having an affair with her teacher, their relationship reaches breaking point and we discover that Isabelle has also been hiding a deep dark secret.
Hanna R.Hall is very good as Amy but Elisabeth Shue seemed a bit too theatrical in some scenes,it was like she was speaking from a stage to a live audience.
The movie is average, its starts off okay and gets better towards the end. There are also a few things that seemed really random for an example a character claims an alien landed in her garden and ,a weird Scream like phone call "Do you like ice-cream? Whats your favorite ice-cream? I wanna take you for ice-cream" from a breathless un-identified caller,we never find out who. Also a young girl is abducted and we never find out who by,was it the ice-cream caller?
After watching this movie and Meryl Streeps portrayal of Lindy Chamberlain i can now understand why Lindy was accused of murdering her daughter Azaria. To me Lindy appeared heartless and emotionless,i never once felt sorry for her throughout the movie but i did feel sorry for her two sons and of course baby Azaria who was left in an open tent at ground level even though her mother knew there were mice running around a few feet from her,not to mention the dingos. I even felt sorry for the second daughter,it was not the right time for Lindy to have another baby when she knew there was a good chance she could be going to jail. People say Lindy didnt play the sympathy card, well no she didnt but that was because she was too busy performing in the Media Circus.
Overall this movie was interesting but it did not blow me away,it played like a TV movie.
Wilderness is a watchable but average British horror/thriller movie. A group of young offenders are sent to a remote uninhabited island on a team building exercise. Once on the island they are hunted down and murdered by a trained killer and his pack of dogs, the killer is the father of a young offender who killed himself after being bullied by several of the other boys. The father wants revenge and this is the ideal place to get it.
What i did not like about the movie was the fact that the killer did not care about who he killed,if he had of just killed the bullies i think i would of enjoyed it a great deal more. There is plenty of blood, violence and gore but nothing creative,we have seen it all before infact many times.
I enjoyed it more than i thought i would,i was expecting to hate it. I didnt like the character played by Colin Farrell so didnt really care what happened to him, infact i didnt care for any of the characters in this movie, they were all lowlifes. Brendon Gleesons character was slightly likeable. The pregnant lady was an unrealistic character,no woman puts her babys life at risk and mouths off at a gangster with a gun and what made it more far fetched was that she never showed the slightest bit of fear whilst doing it. Also Colin Farrell seems okay in real life but i really do not like him as an actor, also he kept reminding me of the character George from My Hero.
My husband couldnt stop laughing all the way through but i didnt laugh out loud once.
Well with the title The Day The World Ended i was expecting something bigger plus i was told that it is a supernatural thriller when infact it is not,its actually about aliens....so what i am trying to say its not what i expected but i was pleasantly surprised. This movie is a throw back to the 1950's science fiction B-movies i used to watch when i was little. The plot is simple and uncomplicated, perfect to watch on a boring afternoon. Nastassja Kinski was great, she was charming and her character was likeable. Still the title confuses me because the world never ends or even comes close to ending, odd.
I really enjoyed parts of this movie but i did begin to lose interest towards the end. I didnt find it to be a scary film but i thought the storyline with the daughter was sad. Also what if other places he had previously visited were haunted but he couldnt connect with them because he had not had a near death experience?
Beautiful and really cute, this movie is filled with adorable scenes and enchanted creatures. The only thing that lets this movie down a little(and i mean just a teeny tiny bit)was that the story was a little weak but besides from that this is a really good movie. It was a nice change to what i normally watch and the charming fairy music made me really relaxed. Ooooo i think i have been sprinkled with some glittery magic fairy dust.
I would love to visit Pixie Hollow,it looks magical.
Tower of Evil aka Horror of Snape Island is a good old fashioned slasher movie that features plenty of sex and gore. The script is quite silly and the acting is not that good either, its a bit wooden but this just adds to its charm.
The movie is set on an isolated island called Snape Island. One day two sailors visit the island and discover three dead teenagers and one traumatized naked female survivor who accidently stabs to death one of the sailors thinking he is the crazed killer who slaughtered her friends. The story then leaps forward to a hospital facility where we see the surviving girl who can not speak or move due to mental problems, she has been charged with murdering her friends. The girls parents then hire a private detective to go to the island to see if someone else could be behind the murders,he,the detective,is joined by an archaeological party who are looking for Phoenecian treasure. Once on the island they are killed one by one by an unknown killer.
Visually it looks cheap. Its a so bad its good kind of movie. One of the sets looks like it was made by a Blue Peter presenter but its a must see for true horror fans.
Until a few hours ago i was a Death Note virgin,i had no idea what it was about and i have not read the books so i write this review completely based on the movie.
I surprisingly enjoyed Death Note more than i thought i would. It almost scored a 3 from me but the final few scenes scored it an extra half a star. Good bits - Lights rival L played by Ken'ichi Matsuyama was amazing and very easy on the eyes (added bonus). Bad bits - parts were a bit slow and i found myself reading the subtitles way too fast.
I would love a replica of the Death Note, just to write my shopping lists in,it would look cool.
Average movie, played like it had been made for tv. Very predictable,i guessed why Able was angry within 10 minutes of watching Lakeview Terrace and i also guessed it would end the way it did. The characters were boring with no depth. The acting was very average and even the brilliant Samuel L. Jackson bored me in this movie.
Watchable if you are bored out of your head and you have nothing else to watch.
L was yet again gorgeous and yet again made me want to eat sweets,he was the best thing about the movie. I was hoping the second movie would be better than the first one but it was not.
Average family movie about a girl called Nim who lives on an island with her father. I found this movie to be predictable and over the top/cheesy in parts but it was at the better end of watchable. I think i would of enjoyed it more if Gerard Butler was absent from the cast,he always comes across wooden and bland. Also being the proud parent of a bearded dragon and several other lizards i did not enjoy the scenes with the lizards being catapulted across the island onto the crowded beach,i think this sends out the wrong idea especially to young children. I am trying to give this a positive review but a few other things bugged me a little.....why didnt Nim alert the emergency services when her father went missing? why didnt the father give the pelican a piece of his clothing or a note for Nim to let her know he was still alive? Nim invited a complete stranger to come to her island, what if she had of been talking to an internet predator?
The Innocents tell the story of Miss Giddens played by Deborah Kerr, she gets the job of being the new governess. She is put in full charge of two orphaned children Flora and Miles who live in a very large beautiful country mansion. Miss Giddens soon realises that the children are very worldly and seem old for their ages and after a short time of being at the mansion she starts to see two ghosts,a man and a woman but thats not all because the two children also start to behave very odd,Miss Giddens tries to keep the children safe whilst also trying to work out what the hells going on. Are the ghosts really there or is she seeing things? Are the children just very wise or evil brats?
The movie is shot beautifully and there is some great eerie music. I enjoyed the first half more than the second half but i think the ending will stick in my mind forever.
That Russell Girl is a down to earth movie about forgiveness, grief and guilt. A young girl called Sarah (Amber Tamblyn) discovers she has leukemia and goes home to her family. Once at home its not easy for her because her family are very excited because Sarahs just been accepted at medical school and also Sarah has to face her past which is not an easy one so she does not tell anyone she is ill.
This movie is quite slow but that just adds to its real feel and it deals with human tradedy very well. Whilst watching this movie i felt for all the characters and understood why they were the way they were.
Zombies Anonymous is the story of the undead/zombies who are living amongst us trying to be normal members of the general public. Everyday they face abuse and discrimination from zombiephobics. Angela joins the Zombies Anonymous group after her ex-boyfriend shoots her in the head, killing her. Shes feels like she does not fit in with the living humans but at the group she feels accepted.
ZA is very crap but surprisingly watchable. Having seen loads and loads of zombie movies it was good to watch a zombie movie that was different to all the rest. However i feel like it could of been a great deal better but sadly the low budget showed and the special effects were lame.
I have wanted to see this movie for at least 20 years and sadly it was not worth the wait. Its a good movie but i was expecting so much more,i think i would of enjoyed it more if i had watched it when it was first released.
Joel Moore plays Nate a dorky underdog(who i found incredibly sexy, geeks rule!)who is in love with Christabel the Hottie played by Paris Hilton. Sadly Christabel will not date again until her best friend June the Nottie gets her first boyfriend.
I enjoyed this movie,i liked the three main characters and there were light laughs to be had. The story was predictable but most rom-coms are.
Before i review this movie one thing really bugged me,Michelle Pfeiffer was playing someone 40 when in real life she was only a year off 50 and it showed,Paul Rudd was playing someone in his late 20s when in real life he was almost 40 and yes (yet again) it showed so the older woman dating the 20 something year old boy storyline just did not work for me. I looked on it as a 50 year old woman dating a 40 year old guy, which lets face it is no big deal. However it was still a good movie,i just think it would of worked better with a different cast or a younger looking cast.
The main highlight for me was the relationship Michelles character had with her daughter (Saoirse Ronan) ,it was great and very endearing. I loved their bond,it was very realistic, honest and open. The daughter was very sweet and funny without being sickly. I loved the Barbie scenes and the scene with the daughter singing.
Also Michelles relationship with her ex husband (Jon Lovitz) is very funny. Tracey Ullman was great as Mother Nature, the outfit really suited her but i cant help but think that perhaps her character was a bit pointless. Another highlight was it was nice to see so many familiar British faces.
This was not a movie i wanted to watch,i recorded it for my daughter but it was me and my son who ended up watching it and we laughed all the way through. Eva Longoria was great playing the dead ex (killed by a wingless angel ice sculpture on her wedding day) ,her character was such a bitchy control freak. Also a good peformance from Lindsay Sloane (Valerie from Sabrina) who plays the interfering little sister. A good movie that puts a smile on your face during a boring Saturday afternoon, its an easy short movie to watch just dont expect a life changing experience.
The Girl in the Park is a good solid drama about a little girl who goes missing whilst on a trip to the local park with her mother. I really enjoyed this movie but i did not like the ending HOWEVER if it had of ended the other way (you will know what i mean if you watch this movie)i dont think i would of liked that ending either. The only thing that bugged me about the movie was the older son was suppose to be in his mid-late twenties but the actor playing him was 35 at the time of filming and you could tell.
The Good Witch was a beautiful movie. I watched it with green eyes full of envy,Cassandra Nightingale had it all - beauty, charm, the big gothic house, her own shop that sold oils and candles and best of all she is a witch! Very good for a tv movie.
I look forward to the sequel.
For fans of Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Practical Magic.
Margot(Nicole Kidman),a short story writer and her son Claude return to her childhood home to attend the wedding of her sister Pauline(Jennifer Jason Leigh) and Malcolm(Jack Black). Margot is a miserable sexually frustrated bitch who manages to talk down, put down and shout at every single character in the movie with exception of the dog Wizard.
Its a well acted movie with a superb cast but at the end it leaves you thinking what was the point and do i care.
6 young people go camping in Ireland so they can eat magic mushrooms aka shrooms.
For such a short movie this film really dragged and was very slow. Plus the word "shrooms" was said far too many times,it was shrooms this, shrooms that, shrooms me,shrooms you,you get the point, shrooms, shrooms, shrooms. In between saying shrooms the scenes were like a mixture of other movies - The Ring,The Grudge,The Blair Witch Project and some bits even looked like Scary Movie and lol one of the characters (a stoner called Troy) looked like Jay (Silent Bobs mate).
The story was kind of boring but i did like the twist at the end,at best its just an average movie with an average story and average characters. Its not scary but i did jump a few times.
Cleaner was better than i expected it to be. I found the whole crime scene cleaning really interesting. The plot is good but i expected a better twist. The acting was great and the movie was very well made. A good movie if you like films about corrupt police.
I was expecting to feel disturbed by this movie due to its storyline but i didnt, infact i felt nothing because i knew it was just a movie and to be honest it was a bit bland and boring.
My son keeps making me watch these movies, last week it was Meet The Spartans which was awful, unfunny and boring but Superhero Movie did actually make me laugh out loud a few times,i cant actually remember what i laughed at though so this makes the movie entertaining but forgettable.
For the first 50 minutes i did nothing but complain about this movie,i kept saying that would not happen or it would not happen like that and i was pretty bored but then i got into it and enjoyed the rest of the movie. I particularly enjoyed the car chase scene which is something i do not normally enjoy. So if you can get past the slow start it turns out to be quite a decent movie.
After 2 hours i was bored and didnt really care what happened in the rest of the movie. I think this movie was wasted on me,i missed its attraction and found myself laughing at scenes i really should not of been laughing at.
Just about watchable comedy about a ugly little cookie who goes on a killing spree which is not a bad thing because even though he is evil he only kills the annoying characters.
Really crappy watchable sequel to the Gingerdead Man. Some light laughs to be had(you are mostly laughing at yourself for watching this shit lol). Very silly, very camp. Fabulous intro music.
I really really loved the scenes involving the fantasy role play but i didnt like the rest of the movie. My husband loved all of it except for the bits about the role play lol.
Its very cheesy but i liked this movie. The only thing that annoyed me and stopped me rating this a 4 was Rayne was a bit of a weakling, shes the lead character for crying out loud, she should of been able to kick ass like Buffy or The Bride(Kill Bill). Plus the fact that Billy the Kidd was from Eastern Europe pissed me off a bit.
This movie certainly seems broken......its as if some scenes are missing and it ends with no real explanation. When i first saw this dvd at the rental store i thought it sounded interesting but it really isnt, every single scene is dragged out and when its finished you feel unsatisfied.
Good cast,Drew Barrymore,Justin Long and Ginnifer Goodwins performances stood out amongst the well known cast. Shame Drews character didnt have much screen time, she was really cute and likeable. Better than i expected it to be but at the end of the day its still just an average run of the mill rom-com.
Phoebe In Wonderland stars Elle Fanning who plays Phoebe a troubled little girl who is crazy about Alice In Wonderland. When Phoebe lands the role of Alice in the school play she is over the moon but can this adorable little misfit hold on to her dream part.
This movie is beautifully filmed and the use of colours is amazing. Excellent cast, moving performances by Elle Fanning,Bailee Madison,Patricia Clarkson and Felicity Huffman.
The Crew is about British gangsters in Liverpool. Sadly this movie was not as good as i was expecting it to be. The characters were vile, not one of them was likeable and the lead hardman character Ged comes across like a pansy. Stephen Grahams* character was interesting and i thought he would of made the movie a good one but his character entered the movie too late on and offered very little. The storyline was weak and i felt like some random scenes were just thrown in for the sake of violence,i think it wanted to shock the viewer but instead it came across as needy and desperate. The acting was so-so. The cast were a bunch of meatheads(*with exception to SG). Clearly just another British gangster flick, just about watchable but it is quite boring in parts.
Really want to see this movie now i have seen clips and read some excellent reviews on it.

Update - I found Slumdog Millionaire to be an average movie,i enjoyed it when the children were little but towards the end of the movie i became quite bored.

Martyrs was at the higher end of average, its watchable but if you dont get chance to watch it you are not missing much. With a few changes i think i would of easily rated this 4 or 4.5 stars but overall it failed with me for several reasons. Firstly the movie was trying to hard to impress and there is so much violence that it becomes boring very quickly. Secondly the first half of the movie is ten times better than the second half,it almost seemed like two seperate movies, one good, one not so good. The first half is fast paced, the second half drags. There were some good ideas but they just didnt work. Nothing is left to the imagination but the gore and violence just went straight over my head.
Finally a Woody Allen movie that i have enjoyed! I have waited a long time for this. VIcky Christina Barcelona was a charming movie about friends, love and relationships. It was a love story with a difference, how refreshing. Barcelona looked beautiful,i really want to go on vacation there now.
I have watched over half of this movie and i am beginning to think i might of already seen it.
Update - I am now 100% certain that i had already seen this movie because i remember thinking how rubbish the ending was. I was enjoying it until Rafi found out that her toyboy was her therapists son,she found out in such a boring way that it ruined the movie for me and turned it from good to the lower end of average.
Not very scary but it made me jump quite a few times. This was one of Jessica Albas better performances, not great but better. Took me a while to get into but i really enjoyed the last 15 minutes.
Good dramatic movie, very realistic and sad. Great performances from the cast. Farah Fawcett was excellent playing Francine the victim of domestic violence.
Common Ground is three short stories about homosexuality. The first one is called A Friend Of Dorothy and stars Brittany Murphy, she plays Dorothy a young girl in the navy. Mr Roberts is the second story and is about a closet gay school teacher and a young male pupil who is about to come out and finally the last story (which was my favourite) was Amos and Andy which follows a gay son who wants acceptance from his father on the morning of his same sex wedding. All stories take place in a small American town,Homer,Connecticut. Eric Stoltz is the narrator and plays a small part in each of the stories.
The acting was great and each story was very moving.
I had no idea what this movie was about but within minutes of watching it you know that something about Alisons perfect life is not quite right. Alison lost her memory a year ago and the only things she knows about from her past are what her husbands told her about it. After a bump to the head during a car crash Alison starts to get her memory back and begins to wonder if this life she is living is really hers.
This is the kind of movie you are glad to stumble across whilst snuggled up in bed unable to sleep.
Love Notes follows the relationship of Nora Flannery a classical music critic and Jamie Derringer a well known country music star, the pair have a one night stand that results in an unwanted/unplanned pregnancy. When i first read the plot on the tv planner it kind of reminded me of August Rush so i decided to record it. Well Love Notes was completely different from August Rush but to be fair even though it played like a tacky Mills and Boons novel it was still an enjoyable feel good movie and i really liked it. After watching loads of dramatic movies this weekend it was nice to watch something a little bit cheesy with a simple uncomplicated storyline. I loved the lead characters and the chemistry between them was good, the storyline was predictable but still interesting.
The only thing i didnt like about the movie was the ages of the characters,i guessed Nora to be in her late 30s and Jamie in his late 20s/early 30s but halfway through the movie its mentioned that Jamie is 23 which is ridiculous because he looks a great deal older, why couldnt he of just been playing the age he was in real life,it didnt make a difference to the storyline.
Bonus feature - the lead male character Jamie was very very watchable.
I enjoyed Black Water,it was slow and simple but it was a watchable movie. It is a story of human survival, three people stuck up a tree whilst a crocodile lurks in the water beneath them. Towards the end though the crocodile became more comical,i kept imagining him talking (it was the look on his face lol).
I enjoyed Girl With A Pearl Earring more than i thought i would infact i only recorded it because i knew Cillian Murphy was in it. The whole movies got a mysterious feel,i feel like we never really know what the characters are "really" thinking and i liked it that way. Colin Firth was great and this is the only movie i have found him attractive in. Scarlett Johansson was okay besides from the fact that she looked like a shocked rabbit for 95% of the movie.
Not my kind of movie but i managed to watch it all. It was watchable and i enjoyed the ending and the big shooting scene. Overall i suppose it was okay for this kind of movie.
Recommended by Deano78,JDFortuneFan,princessqtpl and i also want to see it after reading Newvogueravyns review.
Not seen the first one but i really enjoyed this,i think i would of liked it even more if i had of watched it at the cinema. Good storyline and visually stunning.
"A man moves his two daughters to Italy after their mother dies in a car accident, in order to revitalize their lives. Genova changes all three of them as the youngest daughter starts to see the ghost of her mother, while the older one discovers her sexuality."
Well i was told Genova was a supernatural thriller set in Italy and now i have finished watching it i know that it is not so i didnt enjoy the movie as much as i could of done because i was constantly waiting for the creepy stuff to begin lol. Its actually a story of how a family grieves after the sudden lost of the wife/mother. Colin Firth was very good and Perla Haney-Jardine (Kill Bill 2,Untraceable) is growing into a great little actress.
I can see some people thinking nothing happens and i can see some people thinking its slow and boring, you may all be right but personally i found the movie interesting,i was kept on edge.......constantly fearing for the family and i got the message that it was trying to send out so i enjoyed this movie. However i didnt like Genova the city,it made me feel claustrophobic but i think it was suppose to,it ties into the meaning of the story.
Hush reminded me of quite a few other movies including Road Kill and more recently Shuttle. I thought it started a bit slow but i got into it more during the second half. Nice to see this kind of movie made in the UK for a change. Overall it was watchable, just dont expect much in terms of a storyline or originality.

"The Haunting in Connecticut" is the supposed true story of a family,The Campbells, who move to Connecticut in 1987 so that they can live closer to their sick sons Matts hospital. Matt is being treated for cancer,he lives with his mum,his brother and his two cousins, his dad only comes home for the weekends. Shortly after moving into the home the family discover that it used to be a funeral parlor and also that seances had taken place in the house itself. Soon Matt begins to see spooky things but thinks it is a side effect of his cancer treatment.......that is until Matt sees a photo of a boy called Jonah.......a boy from his hallucinations. Matt tells his cousin Wendy (Amanda Crew) and together they start investigating the history of the house.
Horror wise it works, its very jumpy. Loved the black and white photos are the start and also the black and white images at the end. The story well i am not sure how much of it was true,i will have to look into this. Overall average.

Hard to write a review without giving anything away so i will keep it brief. I enjoyed it but it wasnt brilliant, the effects were good and the acting was okay. Sadly the ending was disappointing/slightly odd.
This is the first Almodovar film i have watched and i really enjoyed it. Filled with interesting colourful characters (a pregant nun with HIV,a nurse who loses her son,Lola the absent father who is now a woman) this movie will touch your heart.
I was disappointed with Doubt,i found it really average plus a bit dull and a bit boring. Meryl Streep was great though, her character had me laughing quite a bit.
Nothing like the description on the dvd box,its quite gloomy and feels very "real". I wanted to give the lead character a good shake towards the end of the movie. Joaquin Phoenix was superb!
Zombie Virus on Mulberry Street takes a different approach to the zombie theme because in this movie the undead are rat zombies/mutants. You can tell its been filmed on a low budget but i admired it because it had been done in a very clever way and many viewers would not even notice what i am talking about for example the scene where Casey is walking through a busy street which is suppose to be people fleeing the zombies well it looks more like a protest or it could even be a carnival gathering. I was really impressed with how this movie was filmed and i enjoyed the story too. Its not really scary but it did make me jump a few times and the overall feel of the movie was sadness,i felt bad for the characters who by the way acted and looked like real people not fake OTT perfect looking actors. The ending was a bit - does it mean this? does it mean that? but i think that happens all the time with zombie movies,we are left wondering. Overall a good enjoyable movie.
I enjoyed The Unborn,it is one of the better horror movies i have watched this year. Not really scary but i still liked it,it was interesting and the ending was left open for The Unborn 2. Well done to the two small children, they played creepy little freaks well. There were a few things i would of liked explaining for example how did Casey explain all the deaths to the police?
The Zombie Diaries was a decent movie,it was done quite realistic (lol as realistic as you can be with zombies),nothing was over the top (again by zombie standards lol).
The Painted Veil was a tragic romance,i cant say anything bad about it except that it was really slow in parts and it took me about 4 attempts to watch it...i kept falling asleep everytime i started watching it.
Really excited to watch this...long haired hot men swinging big swords,James Caviezel and an alien...life doesnt get much better, woohoo.
Update - Yes the men were hot...Vikings rule BUT the movie was average and even predictable...not a word you should use to describe a Viking/Alien movie, you should be using words like different and exciting. It was a mixture of The Fifth Element,AVP,The 13th Warrior and Pathfinder.
In 1913 in a place called Addytown,Pennsylvania a ruthless mine owner used small children to work in his mine,Carlton Mines. One day there is an explosion in the mine and many of the children are buried alive including one really cute little girl called Mary. Skip to present day and Karen Tunny is moving to Addytown after inheriting a house from her deceased husband, accompanied by her two daughters Sarah and Emma, none of them really want to be there but Karens husband had been terminally ill for a long time and his illness used up all of their savings so with no other place to live they return to his family home the Tunny house set in the moutains and next to the mine where the children perished (personally i would of stayed in the city and slept in my car rather than sleep in that creepy house,i love a good gothic mansion but this house was scary!!!). Shortly after moving into the house creepy things start to happen and rumours are heard of zombie children who want your flesh and blood.
Wicked Little Things (presently renamed Zombies in the UK...how unoriginal,i prefer WLT) was better than i was expecting. It creates a good atmosphere with the creepy house, lonely dark woods and the seemingly crazy locals. The actings not bad and the storylines okay. Infact the only thing that doesnt look scary are the zombie kids lol,i think more attention need to be paid on them in make-up.
I was disappointed with The Damned,it takes what seems like forever for the main storyline to get going because time is wasted on sub-plots that are pretty pointless. No scares or tension,no horror and the sci-fi feature is lame. It was almost like 2 movies had been edited together by accident, one the tale of a violent gang whose ringleader wants to shag his sister and the other story a mad scientist experimenting on children, the two together just did not work.
Angel was disappointing. The acting was over the top,the lead character was vile and the dialogue was embarassing to listen to but the most awful thing about it was the special effects(any scene that featured transport),they were cringe worthy. Still its oddly watchable.
Labor Pains delivers some light laughs and in one scene at a breathing class a "rotfl" moment. Lindsay Lohans character is likeable but i never really took to the love interest. Good but predictable.
I should of listened to HorrorChick27....From Within was not terrible but it wasnt good either,i didnt care at all really about the characters and the storyline was quite boring,i felt like shouting "So?" at my tv. Also another thing that bugged me was Elizabeth Rice did not look old enough to be playing the character Lindsay.
