'66... a good year? Almost average as it happens.
...well it heralded the birth of yours truly at least. Apart from being a little surprised at how many films I haven't heard of - not to mention the 'important' or acclaimed films I have still yet to see (I feel slightly ashamed) of those that I know, the overriding reaction is one of "blah..." Apart from one or two exceptions (Fahrenheit 451, Cul-de-Sac, Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf, Persona) 1966 was a distinctly mediocre year for film. Lots of campery though (Arabesque, Modesty Blaise, 3 Carry On films, Batman, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, One Million Years BC, Our Man Flint and a couple of Godzillas). Just not much 'serious' cinephilia that I'd grab onto to take to my desert island.
It's also, probably, my most pointless list (and only interesting to me I s'pose)
