What Happens in Vegas (2008, PG-13)
Honestly, I can't stand this Ashton guy. But I really do love Cameron. And this movie? It had a bunch of scenes you can't help but wonder how could they miss obviously better way to execute them, but apparently they did. And yes, there are no surprises there, from the start you know exactly how it will end. But do you mind it? No. It's movie made to pass some time, and that's exactly what it does. |

The Promotion (2008, R)
There is one of those movies people like to hate. So, it's bit of pace, has weird colors, slow unpleasant humor. The tag line is just so wrong, these are two nice guys in the middle of a stupid lies that they are both trying to make true. Yes they dig some holes for the other one to fall in to, but it's obvious they take no pleasure out of it. I loved the tap dancing fighting scene, so ridiculous. |

Psycho (1960, R)
First time I saw this was on a big screen at cinema museum where seats are uncomfortable, air stinks of sweat and projector makes funny noises typical of, say, J! Horror genre. I didn't care, as I was so cited to finally see a movie I heard so much about. Didn't enjoy it all that much. Famous "Shower scene" was just to fake to be scary, the staircase scene was even worse, and acting seemed strange. Thats what you get when you bring high expectations to cinema. |

Notorious (1946, Unrated)
Not my favorite Hitchcock. Has a love story that comes out of nowhere, and with no reason. Has some silly dialogs. Bergman, to me, looks like a housewife dressed in borrowed clothes. She agrees to do a heroic deed of which nature she has no clue, and isn't even asking until much later on. There was also something weird, as one of the characters was often referred to as handsome, for no apparent reason?! |

Jarhead (2005, R)
Not sure what they were trying to do here. If they wanted to show how marines are all idiots, which would be expected considering the title, they succeeded admirable. Complaining how they didn't even kill anyone?!? Referring to the war as their "job"?!? Fighting with each other over petty insults. Complete idiots. You can't connect with them, you can't feel for them, you can't understand them, you can just watch them like monkeys in the zoo. For this to be bottom line of the movie you would at least need one characters who has a mind, and there is no such in here. There is no great catharsis in there, there is nothing. Sure cinematography is fine but nothing spectacular, as for acting, there was no real challenge for actors except to get naked on several occasions if that constitutes as acting? At moments it would be fluent, at others it would slip into pure boredom. Disappointed. |

The Dark Knight (2008, PG-13)
Friend and I have seen this together, we both jumped and yelled "Finally" when it ended. I have no idea why this is so popular. Ok, Ledger died, that can give some explanation to this phenomena, but movie is still dull, no reason for such high ratings. It's boring, the only funny moments were those when Batman spoke, the action sequences looked lame and unbelievable, bunch of idiotic things happened, like Harvey rolling on the ground screaming and burning, and bunch of people just standing there looking at him. And his reappearance, please, he had "gangrene" spelled on his forehead. The dialogs were dumb, plenty of scenes just irritating and unwatchable, like the sonar vision, that could give you an epileptic seizure. Whole bunch of actors that appeared in it for no reason whatsoever. |

Iron Man (2008, PG-13)
Trailer really did no favors to this movie. From it I assumed this would be a total crap, and was in real shock that it was so praised. I decided to see it as there was a bunch of actors that I really like in it, including Paltrow who looks gorgeous with Irish hair. Also seeing that Favreau directed it had some significance as well. And it turned out to be truly fun experience. Not nearly as dumb as trailer would have you believe. |

Seven (Se7en) (1995, R)
This one is fine film, yet there is something that I can't overlook. As you watch it, everything is done in a way that won't fright away those with flair for more commercial movies. And since this is supposed to be disturbing movie, it falls short, at least for those with more extravagant taste. Anyway, it's still skillful movie, with good light, good screenplay. Most of the actors are at their usual mode, nothing to special there. What really does elevate this movie from the averageness is Spacey. He is the sole reason to return to this again, occasionally. Pitt on the other hand, came really close to ruining it completely. |

RKO 281: The Battle Over Citizen Kane (1999, R)
Really interesting, telling story about greatest story ever told. Liev Schreiber doesn't look one bit like Welles, but what can you do. Cromwell, Malkovich and Griffith are wonderful in their roles, and there are some truly beautiful lines in there. But other then that, this is more like educational movie and therefore has nothing of the greatness it revolves around. |
