Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001,  R)
Captain Corelli's Mandolin 5.0 Stars
I don`t know where to begin, I ll try. Comparing to the Book of Louis de Berniere, the the Movie is lacking with some details, but this is not new when it comes to the Movies which are based upon Books.
I remember my Sis Recommeded this Movie to me ages ago. I totally forgot it, but luckily we caught it on TV.
I must admit I watch Nicolas Cage Movies in German only. Don`t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with Cage`s voice, it is just the Martin Kessler voice is so perfect for Nicolas Cage.

Okay back to Movie.
If had never read the Book, I would have said "Everything about the movie was perfect."
For those who are not interested to read the Book and want to see Nicolas Cage, Christian Bale, Penelope Cruz, in a moving Drama, Romance and "War Movie." This is perfect. It moved me a lot, though I was moved by the Book a lot more.
Surprising that I enjoyed this Movie very much. The beginning is rather a bit slow, sweet and very funny.
Nicolas Cage trying in a funny way to capture Pelagia`s attention. Never saw him playing Mandolin before. Kind of Sweet. And the Tricks he used. Like when Pelagia`s Father asked him to play Mandolin, Corelli played so miserable. Just to get rid off the old man and when the old man left and Pelagia was just about to stand up and go, Corelli began to play such a lovely Melody.
Every Character were convincing in this Movie.

There is this Scene where the Germans Execute Corelli and his Men. A Friend of Corelli who had promised Pelagia (P.Cruz) before that he will take care of Corelli because he knew how she felt about him. And when the moment where the Germans began shooting, he just threw himself on Corelli which saved Corellis life. I could n`t help my tears back. I mostly gasped half of the Movie.
I could go on and on which, what, and where. But I might spoil it for many of you. As I can see many of my Friends haven`t seen it yet. Believe me it is worth watching.

Quoted
I felt sorry for many of the characters who were very like able
So yes, it was a great film, nicely atmospheric and sweet. Historically intriguing also.

Hmm let see I have seen this Movie, oh I quit counting. I m not such a Travolta Fan, but I enjoyed many of the Movies he played in. Face Off was a bit irritating when I watched it for the first time, but I must admit, I enjoy the rewatches. I could watch it over and over again. Great Plot.
Thank you for choosing a COOOOL VOICE FOR NICOLAS CAGE!! GERMANY!!

I love love loved it. Not disappointed at all.
Actually Hollywood twerps tend to screw Sequels, but this one was just different. It was exciting like the first one.

I noticed, there was something different about Nicolas Cage in this Movie

Liloh says
His Hair. And besides he looked a bit older in the Movie then he is in real.
I hope it helps Chris.

Most movie sequels aren't as good as its prequel. To my surprise, National Treasure: Book of Secrets was every as good as the first one.

This Movie has it ALL. From action, adventure to comedy. These kind of Movies are the one I prefer to watch Sean Connery in. As a Fan of Sean Connery, David Morse, Nicholas Cage, Michael Bien, and Ed Harris I say This Movie was just EXCELLENT!!

Some great Quotes below

General Hummel: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson.

John Mason: "Patriotism is a virtue of the vicious," according to Oscar Wilde.
[Hummel strikes him, and he falls to his knees]

Commander Anderson: Thank you very fucking much Mr. Mason, you've led us into a room with no exit.

Stanley Goodspeed: Well, I'm one of those fortunate people who like my job, sir. Got my first chemistry set when I was seven, blew my eyebrows off, we never saw the cat again, been into it ever since.

Stanley Goodspeed: "I'd take pleasure in guttin' you, boy. I'd take pleasure in guttin' you... boy." What is wrong with these people, huh? Mason? Don't you think there's a lot of, uh, a lot of anger flowing around this island? Kind of a pubescent volatility? Don't you think? A lotta angst, a lot of "I'm sixteen, I'm angry at my father" syndrome? I mean grow up! We're stuck on an island with a bunch of violence-for-pleasure-seeking psycophatic marines, SHAME-ON-THEM!
[clears throat]
Stanley Goodspeed: Anyway, I only got one chem round, and there's two left... Mason?

John Mason: Yes, I'm here. I was just thinking how wonderful it was when the inmates weren't allowed to talk in here.
