Apocalypse Now (1979, R)
Nothing short of Amazing.I felt I owed this to my Dad who was in the Marine Corps. He was a Gunnery Sargent forever. He served in Both Korea and the Vietnam wars.He is still alive and ticking and got all his wits about him. After seeing as many war movies as I have I don't see how this man is still as intact as he seems.Anyway He is my hero always will be PERIOD.This movie was spine chilling.I loved it from minute one.Gosh the cast was not only stellar, but dam they were so young.I just don't know what else to say but dam if you haven't seen this one yet you owe it to yourself to do so.It really is something very special. |

Wow this movie,I know another fiinally seeing the crucial movies,Anyway This far exeeded my expectations.Ray Liotts was brilliant in this.If you are a Godfather fan You will love this. These mafia movies are just starting to mesmerize me,I wish there were many more of them. They are really getting kind of addictive. |

Ong-Bak (Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior) (2005, R)
OMG!!!!!!!! Times 12! This was so cool! I am now just by this movie alone a converted Maritial arts movie LOVER!.This guy,This Tony Jaa is freaking UNREAL.He is who Jackie Chan wants to grow up to be.The acting was totally overdone and stupidly dramatic at some points ,BUT the Action will keep any action movie lover glued,Its non-stop.This guy has done moves I guarantee you have NEVER seen. It's Raw.bloody and brutal,I loved every minute of it.If you like action,Or any type or Martial arts movie check this one out ASAP,You won't be disappointed!I can't wait for the 2nd movie to come out now!! |

The Deer Hunter (1978, R)
Good Lord,How excellent is this movie!!??. I remembered things about half way through it and realized I had watched this as a child.HELLO.WTF were my parents think9ing?Anyway such a tremendous cast.God I love Christopher Walken,he is just smooth as hell, and dammmm diddy damm De Niro looks HOT with a beard.Anyway Excellent yet very emotional story of a great group of friends from a small town and the way the Vietnam war changed everything about them.Excellent movie,I can't give this anymore stars,I wish I could. If you have not seen this you need too.=) |

Jet Li's Fearless (Huo Yuan Jia) (Legend of a Fighter) (2006, PG-13)
OK so here I go getting sucked into yet another amazing Martial arts flick.I had so many of my great Flix friends recommend this movie to me after my Ong Bak Frenzy last week.I am so glad I listened to you guys.I was amazed this was a true story as well. The ending was verrrry sad.But amazing story, beautiful cinematography, and some awesome fight scenes that I wanted to keep rewinding and watching over and over.SO please now that I have joined this whole kung fu craziness please keep your recommendations coming.I really enjoyed it.I do think I liked Onk Bak a little more because the action was non-stop and I swear Tony Jaa can do things with his body that don't seem human, but EXCELLENT.If you have not seen this ,you should =) |

Boiler Room (2000, R)
This movie was outstanding.I like Giovanni Ribsi more and more every movie I see him in.His performance here was incredible.Such an incredible plot I thought this was a true story.A stellar cast ,yet in a funny way unlikely, mainly speaking of Jaime Kennedy, but in the screwball way they all fit.Amazing flick,Highly recommended! |

Once (2007, R)
Wow so what do you get when you take a story,A Plot and strip down and beat all the "Hollywood" off of it?Scary thought huh?Yes,Because then you are dependent oin2 things a story that can carry itself, and then actors who are convincing enough to keep you interested in that story. Not to mention I have never even heard of the actors that were in this before seeing it.However it doesn't matter something big came from something very small. This movie was likre the little engine that could It's like a present from your best friend that means so much to you,and is so dear, you want to keep it and hold it as close to your heart as possible. If you could just ball it up and keep it in your shirt ,or jacket pocket all day and just take it out and listen, and feel what is really being said here from time to time. How do you explain a movie that is so great and so full of passion, and explain, there are no explosions,no exciting 40 minute sex marathons,no non-stop comedy, but yet everyone should see this.I guarantee there is something in everyone's life that they are going through right now,This very day, this movie will move you,and hone in and kick that very emotion into high gear.I for once and kind of left speechless again,All I can say is the movie is Amazing yes,I say that alot, but saying it here is an understatement. Its beautiful its is simple,it's just like life,Enjoy this one,EVERYONE should see this.Men this is not a chick flick there is a story for you here too,I swear.=) |

Legend (1985, PG)
One of my best friends has been bugging me to see this.It was very cool.A little flick by Ridley Scott I had never heard of.Awesome little Fantasy adventure starring a very young Tom Cruise. This was a very pleasant change of pace from what I have been watching lately so I really enjoyed this one.Oh,and it has I guarantee the dam scariest looking Satan anyone has ever brought to film.If anyone knows of a better one please let me know.Totally recommending this! =) |

Unleashed (Danny the Dog) (2005, R)
You know,I remember seeing a trailer for this forever ago and thought the story sounded so intriguing. Here I just stumbled back across this. What an awesome flick,To be honest (cause I am bare bones honest in my reviews) I was expecting more action/fight scenes,But this was ok too.A great twisted plot about a guy that takes a boy and makes him his little killer pet.Anyway great cast with Bob Hoskins,Morgan Freeman and the Amazing and multi-talented Jet Li.This story had heart and was really good,I totally recommend this one.Very entertaining! =) |

Hotaru no haka (Grave of the Fireflies) (1988, Unrated)
Absolutely Heartwrenching! I am so glad that you guys send me your recommendations.I would have never ever known about this wonderful movie without having my Flix buddies.Have the tissues ready was right (Alex) lol.Oh my gosh this is so sad.I was ready for sad,not ready ready for a gut-wrenching overflow of tears.A story about a boy that is forced into a parent role of his little (adorable) sister Setsuko due to the death of his parents. He does everything he can for her,but is so young himself, just does not have the life skills,or means to do anything.Through the many bombings they had lost everything it was pretty much the 2 of them with a few stray belongings. But his love for her was fierce, she was all he had left.I don't want to say too much more, but this is such a deep, touching movie everyone should see this.I absolutely recommend this movie be the very next one you see!! =) |

Well this was a trippy ride.I liked this movie alot.Of course I have never seen a movie with Statham that I hated. He does seem to look strange with hair.Anyways this is a film that will keep you engaged till the end, keep you wondering what is going on.Cool twist ending,I love those.Catch this one if you get the chance =) |
|
| 21 |
The Crucible (1996, PG-13)
This movie is pretty incredible.Yet another movie that Daniel Day Lewis will just blow you away.He is an amazingly Powerful actor with such a calm demeanor on the surface. He puts so much passion into his roles,I don't know of too many actors that are of his caliber.Winona Ryeder also did a really good job in this as well.I didn't know the whole story behind the Salem witch trials before this.It is absolutely absurd that a handful af adolescent girls with nothing better to do than be bitchy and spiteful could carry so many innocent townspeople to their deaths.Anyways if you have not seen this you really REALLY should,Very worth the watch! |

Batman Begins (2005, PG-13)
Ok ya'll OMG! I KNOW I am going to hear so much crap about this, but hear we go I am stepping out on a limb and owning this.Ok for some wacko reason I thought I had seen this movie thats why it was rated this whole time.Um yeah well, over the past week I have been in an argument with myself about Christian Bale being Batman,I remember Kilmer,Keaton blah blah but trying to recall details with Bale was leading to no where. So luckiliy it was showing on cable and lo and dam behold I just watched this for the first time tonight. What an AWESOME movie.Liam Neeson was a great surprise.I loved it beginning to end,I am SOOOOOO ready for The Dark Knight its like the kid who can't sleep the Night before Christmas. It's ridiculous!Anyway so there is my ugly confession of the week.I sure do wish I knew the reason that Katie Holmes did not want to play Rachel in the Dark Knight,if anyone knows will you please fill me in.Oh,by the way if you as well have not seen this.I totally recommend it.Especially if you want to be fully ready for The Dark Knight.=) |

East of Eden (1955, PG)
Ok,finally saw my first James Dean film. What a sweet soul this guy was,What a tragedy,Who knows what he could have became,Anyway. If you are at all curious, this was great,Sad,the whole deal with him and Aaron's mom.But James or 'Cal' his character's name is definitely the main dish in this movie. His sweet, shy, slightly mischevious, quirky and very unpredicle nature was absolutely captivating.I think I am developing a whole new obsession here.I hate when I do that with dead celebs.Anyway he was great and again so sad,I can't wait to see the other movie. If you have ever been curious,do it,watch it,life is too short,Enjoy all these great films while we still have them intact.=) |
|

Empire of the Sun (1987, PG)
Another amazing movie I have let slip by for way too long.I have been on this whole Christiian Bale thing lately,so I wanted to see how his acting skills were when he was a boy.OMG! He was BORN to act. This boy is absolutely brilliant in anything he does. This is an amazing journey of a young boy, separated from his parents in the middle of WWII and forced to survive basically however he can.I had no idea that he would bump into of all people John Malkovich one of my fav actors that was a huge bonus!Oh,and a very young, and not in comedic role,Ben Stiller. The cast was Great,Christian again,Wow he is just mindblowing,he is really a natural,I hope he goes oin making lots of movies for us to enjoy for many years. If you have not seen this movie I highly recommend it! =) |

| 33 |
Shutter (2008, PG-13)
Pretty cool movie,Kept me interested.I know alot of people didn't want to see this because it was a re-make,So I definitely want to check out the original.Anyway I liked it,It was kind of a cross between The grudge and White Noise,So if you like that sort of thing then you should like this one alright.=) |
|
| 34 |
Hero (2004, PG-13)
EXCELLENT! Continuing on with my new found Martial arts madness this was MUCH better than The one. This is the stuff I like.In China with the history and great storyline behind it.But This is something VERY SPECIAL you guys. The sound and special effects in this are beyond your imagination. You need to see this on a big screen with an excellent home theater system to get the great sound effects.Oh God,and the colors, they thought of everything with this movie.I HIGHLY ,HIGHLY recommend this!!!Jet Li,I am falling for this guy more and more with every movie.I cannot say anything more about it,you seriously have to experience this one for yourself.SEE IT VERY SOON! |
|
| 35 |
Semi-Pro (2008, R) |
|
| 36 |
The One (2001, PG-13)
This movie was pretty good, since I have been on my Martial arts kick I couldn't wait to see this.Soooo, verdict is I liked it,There was a secret bonus for me,I didn't know my man Jason Staham was in it (sigh),That made it 10 times better. As far as Jet Li,I am NO expert and heve seen very few films, but I will say I prefer his stuff on his own turf. With the old ancient rituals, slow graceful asian life and respect. The 'Americanized' jet Li I just dont like as much. Please don't send me a bunch of hate messages over this.I wanted to see more martial arts,I saw some great action, some good special effects and then some special effects that were downright cheesy and absurd.I will continue to watch Jet Li,I am just finding that I guess I will be one of those that turns out liking his earlier movies when there is much more martial arts shown.=) |
|
| 37 |
Suicide Kings (1997, R) |
|
| 38 |
Untraceable (2008, R)
Really Cool flick I liked this one.Yeah it smelled a little predictible here and there but who cares? The twisted concept of this movie was like a weird cross between Se7en and The Saw movies, so if you like either of those or both you will most likely love this.Intense at times I did enjoy this movie.I am recommending this one.=) |

[Rec] (2007, R)
Dammit!! Oh Hell no! This is one I will never watch again. My stomach is still in knots for God's sakes. This movie scared the crap out of me.This IS NOT your typical Hollyowwd Horror flick,NO it' not.At least with those you know when you are gonna jump,With this no chance,If you do NOT like scary movies or suspense don't even try this.If you are a horror fan bump this to the top of your list.Better ,scarier and bloodier than I had imagined.I have read alot of rave reviews about this and been really wanting to see it,now I know what all the hype is about,It was totally worth it.Ok,I am gonna go take some Pepto now.See Ya! |
|
| 46 |
Sleepwalking (2008, R)
This flick was pretty alright.Nick Stahl plays the brother to Charlize Theron, who is in trouble ,partying it up and basically a mess, with a mess of a life and pre-teen daughter dragged all over to hell and back with her.The acting was good,I had never seen Nick Stahl in anything before so,So far so good there. My little Annasophia Robb,I tell you what this beautiful little girl has so much ahead, she is so talented and did really well in this role.Dennis Hopper,Lord knows I love him but good lord the man plays the meanest old bastard you have ever seen.Pretty good,Not phenomenal but worth watching.=) |
|
| 47 |
Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008, PG-13)
Absolutely Hilarious! They could have not picked a better cast if they tried. It was fantastic to see James Earl Hones again.Mike Epps rocks my socks,Love that guy.Anyway if you just want a great comedy that might all too well remind you of all the "great" qualities in your family and give you many, many laughs along the way,I highly recommend this movie =) |

The Ex (2007, PG-13) |
|
| 49 |
Billy Elliot (2000, R)
I remember I wanted to see this movie forever ago when it came out, just got around to it tonight. This is hands down one of the best movies I have ever seen.A great cast and a great story of a boy that simple just loved to dance pure and simple.I have a huge soft spot for the underdog movies and boy this fits it to a T.If you have not had the pleasure of seeing this amazing film make it the next on your list because it is truly that special.Billy Elliot-AMAZING! |
|
| 50 |
Sex and the City (2008, R) |
|
| 51 |
Joy Ride (Road Kill) (2001, R)
Pretty good flick,It reminds me alot of The Hitcher.Steve Zahn is such a punk older brother in this,I am used to him in comedy, not being scared to death.Paul Walker is nice to look at in anything,so is hid nice little bootay.Anyway LeeLee Rocks,It was good,semi-predictable but a pretty good suspense /thriller.=) |
|
| 52 |
Speed Racer (2008, PG) |
|
| 53 |
Brick (2006, R)
This was a way out there different kinda flick for me,lol I know I am going to have to watch this one again.Pathetic I know, Sorry I was planning on just watching a movie and being entertained I didn't know I was going to have to like pay serious attention.I love Joseph Gordon,so for him I will watch this again, when I am in a better frame of mind.Definitely interesting and keeps you engaged you want to find out more and the Why? =) |

A Walk to Remember (2002, PG)
Ahhhh God,22 and a half tissues later. This was really good,Yep going to the Tearjerker list with this one.If you haven't seen it,have a FULL box of tissues handy.Cause if you aren't crying through half this dam movie you got the dam burning watermelon stuck in your throat that is threatening to burst at any moment.Fair warning.Excellent movie.Highly recommended! =) (sniff) |
|
| 55 |
Chaos (2005, R)
Well HOT dam how have I managed to miss this little gem.Holy HOTNESS Ryan Phillippe and Jason Statham in the same movie (sighs) God someone wake me up! Better yet let me keep on dreaming thats a nice dream duo.Ok anyway Great action flick, with a cool twist ending.Jason has his same cool quick witty comments, and Ryan just does a dam good job just looking insanely hot,He really doesn't need to do anything else.Great cast, good action,Check it out,Ladies you should like this one.*Wink* =) |
|
| 56 |
The Signal (2008, R)
I watched this on the recommendation from a friend.First of all take my advice do NOT watch this when you are tired, its a mindfuck enough on it's own,let alone you being drowsy and trying to keep who is really who straight.Anyway very different type of movie I like it and pretty much agree with my frends' review, you wind up almost feeling like its comical at certain points all the murders that are going on.and the funky Signal that is triggering folks to kill their best friend.Anyway if you like,Horror, gore,Violence and lots of blood with a twist of WTF?Check this one out. =) |
|
| 57 |
P.S. I Love You (2007, PG-13)
Ahhh man,get the tissues ready for this one. This is one of the sweetest love stories I have ever seen.I love Hillary Swank already, she played this amazingly well.Much better than I expected,The few bad reviews on this I read,I dont know if me and those folks were even watching the same movie.Very good, highly recommended! |
|
| 58 |
Over Her Dead Body (2008, PG-13) |
|
| 59 |
An American Crime (2007, R)
Ohhhh, boy Ok as a mother you WILL have a very hard time watching this. It's like basically your worse nightmare come true.I would have never left my kids with a perfect stranger to begin with, but it was a different time then,People were more trusting and Gertrude went to church and to the outsiders put off the "Oh poor me,I am broke, and I have too many kids, but I go to church and I am a good person"BULLSHIT mask! This movie is disturbing in ways that enrage me as a mother, that any woman could allow this to go on in her own home, and then let the whole dam neighborhood kids come in and beat the crap out of her,Oh hell no!This chick was totally off her rocker she should have never had custody of ANY of her children ever.Ellen Page is truly a remarkable actress for her age,and I think she should have been nominated for an Oscar for This movie a hell of a lot more than Juno. She was Incredible in this and that is an understatement. The fact that this is a true story will haunt me for a very long time.See it,Just be warned. |
|
| 60 |
Laurel Canyon (2003, R) |
|
| 61 |
Sydney White (2007, PG-13)
Loved it! The thing I love about Amanda Bynes is that she and like Mandy Moore are NOT like the rest of the Hollywood young tramps. These girls are gorgeous, can act very well and have a uniqueness all their own. This was very cute I totally recommend this to anyone who is a sucker for the Underdog movies.Long Live the dorks! =) |
|
| 62 |
Le Scaphandre et le Papillon (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) (2007, PG-13)
This is literally the most gut wrenching movie I have ever sat through. It's very sad.You wonder how people find the strength to go on when something so horrific happens to them, especially in their early 40's.I was blown away this is a true story.I want to do a little more research on this "locked in syndrome",It's incredibly brave, most people I would think would try to find a way to commit suicide rather than live their whole lives like that. This man was so brave. He had such and understanding support system of nurses, family. It's sad but you find some happiness in it, the way he deals with things, the whole movie is narrated by his thoughts.I absolutely 110% recommend this treasure of a movie =) |
|
| 63 |
Hard Candy (2006, R)
Whoa.... I am so jacked up right now,no joke still trying to get my jaw back up off the floor. This movie is so freakishly disturbing, yet I don't know it's like that morbid curiosity that us as humans have Makes you keep watching this movie.I think both Patrick Wilson and Ellen Page had Oscar winning performances here I mean seriously,I don't want to ruin it for anyone who has not seen it but Holy Crap this is any guy's worst nightmare come to life. They were both completely twisted ,ok,I am all weird right now,I need to go running or something. But if you have not yet seen this movie make it the very next one you see!=) |
|
| 64 |
The Fall (2006, R) |
|
| 65 |
Running With Scissors (2006, R)
I thought this was a pretty good movie,I had read alot of mixed reviews before watching this and wanted to judge for myself,I quite enjoyed it to tell you the truth,it was so oddly interesting it held me all the way through, for some reason I wanted to see what the next crazy person's action was going to be,lol. It just made the thing before it seem almost normal.Anyway I thought it was pretty good, definitely worth a watch.=) |
|
| 66 |
Away from Her (2007, PG-13)
Heart wrenching and beautiful,Wow this man had a fierce love for his wife, any woman should be so lucky,I was there spot on with every aspect of this film UNTIL,the adultery although I can understand the loneliness the 2 (other) partners must have been feeling I just was hoping that wouldn't happen.Anyway other than that this was simply brilliant, loved the story I loved Their love and great ,great acting.Highly recommended.=) |
|
| 67 |
In the Land of Women (2007, PG-13)
I liked this one, |
|
| 68 |
Facing the Giants (2006, PG)
I haven't seen to many "Christian" faith based films,But this one is amazing.A truly inspiring story of a High school Football coach on the verge of pretty much losing everything.Very Inspiring, although the actors are not ones you will recognize and it doesn't have the big razzle dazzle Hollywood budget, the story is stand alone,Intense at times and sometimes you will even cry,Excellent football flick,Check this one out!! =) |

This is a really decent list for a lady - as in minimal chick flix! I respect your open mindedness. I also watched "Grave of the Fireflies" out of the blue, and man did it ever blow my mind, so I can sure relate to that review.
