A Study in Cinematic Violence

  1. Revelations
  2. Nathan

Just some movies that I found interesting to examine the different ways they "artistically" portray acts of violence. Some I agree with, others I find extremely irresponsible.

Eastern Promises
A brutal crime drama. At least in the sound department. I covered my eyes during the graphic scenes for 90 seconds combined throughout the movie. While a well done movie artistically, with excellent performances by Viggo Mortensen and Vincent Cassel, I can't recommend it to most people.

Some of the jokes didn't hold up as well the second time, so it got docked half a star. Shock value was gone. Still, the plot is excellent and it still is a very funny movie.

Shooter
Moral of the story: Revenge is an honorable thing. Shooter is a rather predictable and an indistinct action thriller, which makes me furious in the way it perverts the nature of real justice and portrays revenge as a good and just act.
