Veronica Guerin (2003, R)
Another stunning performance by Cate Blanchett and a great supporting cast. |
|
| 2 |
The Gift (2000, R)
This film has always been a favourite of mine, it?s a great supernatural thriller. Cate Blanchett (as always) gives a very strong performance, a likeable performance too from Giovani Ribisi. |
|
| 3 |
Heaven (2002, R)
This Itlian speaking film (with a small amount of English speaking) is a little slow moving, but has a very interesting story. Cate Blanchett of course (as always) is brilliant, pairing with Giovanni Ribisi once again, who also gave a great performance. |

Charlotte Gray (2001, PG-13)
Such a different perspective on a war-time film, showing this through a strong woman?s eyes, in a man?s world. This story is essentially driven by love. |

| 5 |
Notes on a Scandal (2006, R)
A truly amazing tale with equally amazing performances. Dame Judi Dench was a very eerie, frightening character and Cate Blanchett seems to have mastered so many accents. |
|
| 6 |
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008, PG-13)
A slow paced film that has plenty of character. The poignant tale of Benjamin Button pulls at your emotions and brings you into the storyline. David Fincher has done it again with this original film and has a brilliant aging process in the characters, which looks exceptionally real of course helped along by the talents of Blanchett and Pitt and their great performances here. |

I'm Not There (2007, R)
This film was a brave attempt, but it easily causes confusion. It?s very arty in it?s interpretation, which works well if you have an understanding of that interpretation from the beginning, otherwise you will find yourself lost throughout the film. |

| 8 |
Babel (2006, R)
Had absolutely no idea what this film was going to be about, but with so many recommendations I had to watch it. |

| 9 |
Little Fish (2006, R) |
|
| 10 |
Bandits (2001, PG-13)
A funny unlikely action comedy. I thought at the beginning I may have found my first film where Billy Bob wasn't too great, but soon changed my mind, when he became more and more humourous throughout. |

Cate Blanchett is a huge talent, who's roles have been much varied and yet she takes on every project with the same enthusiasm and sincerity and delivers (with very few exceptions), an outstanding performance every time. Her accents are not forced and sound very natural, which is always a compliment to any native audience of the accent in question.
CB has also given at least two performances, whereby the language spoken (two seperate languages) in a large part of the film is in dialogue other than English, which is something usually credited to Actors of the reverse situation, ie. non-English speaking Actors, speaking English for Hollywood roles.
