I know when I watch a Denzel Washington film, I can expect a great story, a performance which he has thrown himself into and researched well when necessary and in the cases of films such as 'The Hurricane' has done the person justice in the way he has played the role.

American Gangster (2007,  R)
American Gangster 4.0 Stars
This film is not for people looking for non-stop action, based on a true story, this lengthly drawn out film is only for those with the stamina to see it out to the end.

Admittedly if I'd seen this on dvd, I would have been tempted to quit watching after the first hour or would have at least watched it in two sittings. At the end of the film it leaves you feeling glad you saw it through and it is indeed a hell of a tale. My advice would be not to read too much abou the film before you see it.

Great performance from Denzel, but I have to say that it was Russell Crowe that shone for me.

VERDICT: A Brilliantly put together film for those who can last the distance

Deja Vu (2006,  PG-13)
Deja Vu 4.5 Stars
A very enjoyable time travel type film. I've heard people getting confused at the ending and I can see why, but think I got it and thought it was very cleverly done.

This would certainly benefit from multiple viewings, a great story, which reminded me slightly of Minority Report (but better).

I'd forgotten what a great film this was, it's easy to remember it for the first half of the film, which seems a little predictable and then the second half of the film takes on a completely different tempo. I really liked the quirky way in which the sub-titles appeared on the screen, it added to urgency and menace of the scene.

A great revenge film.

A remarkable tale based on a true story, I was gripped from start to finish. Derek Luke, I thought played a fantastic part and it was a good performance from Denzel too, who also Directed the film.

An emotional account of how someone's present circumstances are a result of their past, facing your fears and forgiving to enable you to move on.

VERDICT: A great film which I definitely recommend.

The story of The Hurricane touches me everytime I watch it or read about it. A superb performance by Washington, in one of the most publicised cases of wrongful imprisionment. Twenty-one years served out of his sentance for 3 murders he never comitted along with his socalled accomplis 'John Artis'. Whilst many campaign for his innocence, known and unknown, Carter manages to keep in the right mind by not accepting the treatment of a guilty man.

A must see.

Much better than I remember this film being. At the time of it's release I wasn't too impressed by it, but this time around I found it a pretty enjoyable film.

Can't say that there were any outstanding performances in this one and it wasn't particularly gory for a serial killer film, but I don't really think that was the main focus here, it was more to do with working together during the circumstances

This is an emotional story and shows up the predjudice encoutered towards people with AIDS and Homosexuals. A Brillient performance from Hanks who I would not normally rate as one of the best Hollywood actors despite his reputation.
