A1) Gary Oldman, 9 out of
Not seen too many films with Gary Oldman, but the ones I've seen I've enjoyed some powerful performances from him. Looking forward to seeing more.

Batman Begins (2005, PG-13)
The calibre of actors in this films (with the exception of Katie Holmes) seemed far too talented for this type of movie. The film was all a bit too serious, which as a story in it's own right was ok, but a little too serious for a Batman film I feel. There didn't seem to have much of a comic book feel to it. |

Hannibal (2001, R)
Hannibal is a film which benefits from multiple viewing. When I first watched this film at the cinema at the time of it?s release (having already watched ?The Silence of the Lambs?), I?d anticipated a much more tense thriller, instead it was one of the first films to really show something gory, particular the end scene (but perhaps not to today?s standard). |

A rewatch, enjoyed it much better than my first viewing, interesting to learn about Alcatraz and the story was inspired by true events. |

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992, R)
Both Winona Ryder and Sadie Frost look stunning in this Academy award winning film. Beautiful costumes for this period piece and an intriguing storyline . Not my usualt type of film granted, and it was a little drawn out in parts, but overall pleasantly surprised and I can certainly see it?s appeal. |

True Romance (1993, R)
I'd actually forgotten I used to be a fan of Christian Slater, of course we don't seem to hear much of him now, but he and Patricia Arquette pull of this film as the main characters, accompanied of course by a strong cast of great actors. It's the ultimate story of love at first sight and of course romance. It has to be one of the funniest parts Brad Pitt has ever played. |

The problem with putting people on a pedestal is that they have further to fall when they don't meet expectations. |
