Stay 4.0 Stars
The weirdness surrounding this film makes for compelling viewing, enjoyable performances from all three main characters.

This is the second time I have watched this film and despite really liking it, I still don't totally get the ending.

Eastern Promises (2007,  R)
Eastern Promises 5.0 Stars
If I compare this film to Goodfellas, or at least an English/Russian version, you may pick up on the wrong idea, but the film had an excellent quality to it and the Russian crime family was a refreshing change to watch for this genre. I hadn?t even realised until half way through that it was Viggo Mortensen and I was completely blown away by his performance. I cannot recommend this film enough, a film of this genre and this quality has been a long time coming.

The Painted Veil (2006,  PG-13)
The Painted Veil 4.5 Stars
Worthy of all the recommendations, I received, I guess this story fits my liking for tragic romances. The views of China are breathtaking and great performances from Norton and Watts who managed to pass as sounding English where so many fail.

This isn't the type of film you can describe very well to someone else without giving away the storyline, so I just recommend that you watch it.

Anyone who wants to watch this film bear with the first hour, the scenery, effects and animation are worth the wait. It really is quite amazing how far we have come in terms of the effects sin the original was made.
For anyone who has an interest in behind the scenes and how the film was made, the special features on this film has to be the greatest I?ve ever seen, it?s lengthly, but well worth the watch.

Inspired by a true story this slow moving films, shows a fine escalating performances by Sean Penn. The angel in which this film was shown was quite unique and a story well told.

The Hunt for the Unicorn Killer 4.0 Stars
Told in two parts, this story (which I presume is a true one?) covers quite a period of events leading up to one of the main character?s death.

The story is about appearing to be one thing to people and another behind closed doors, about a person wanting freedom for themself and controlling others. It shows mental and physical abuse and a family?s fight for justice.
