Ocean's Thirteen (2007,  PG-13)
Ocean's Thirteen
Much more impressive than Ocean?s 12 and much more on par with the first of the trilogy. More trickery, gadgets, team working and planning, an entertaining watch, however I did get quite excited when I saw Vincent Cassell, only to be disappointed when I realized it was just a cameo role for him.

Eastern Promises (2007,  R)
Eastern Promises
A gangster movie with a difference, it?s subtle, non-flashy, yet it includes all the vital ingredients and perfection of a top-notch Organised Crime film.

Viggo Mortensen was brilliant in this role, the super-cool Russian ?driver? for the son of a crime family, is slick, smart and undeniably cold. I?ve never really been blown away by Mortensen?s talents, but this role for me, showed that he can deliver an impressive performance. Cassel as always was great (and a little trivia here) took just a few weeks to learn conversational Russian for this role.

The storyline is fairly simplistic and not too ambitious as far as films in this genre usually go, yet the result is a new angle with a big impact.

This is my second viewing of this film and I was just as impressed second time around.

Sa Majesté Minor (His Majesty Minor) (2007,  Unrated)

Sheitan (Satan) (2006,  Unrated)
Sheitan (Satan)
A better type of teen horror, but for me failed toward the end. It was very predictable, but the progression of the story was enjoyable.

Vincent Cassel plays a character quite unlike any you've seen him play before, he plays it well, but isn't really a film that is up to his level of acting.

Derailed (2005,  R)
Derailed
Thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish, good performances alll round, particularly from Vincent Cassel, but more shockingly, a good performance from Jennifer Aniston as a serious role.

I watched this film, knowing nothing about it and having not even seen a trailer and I'm glad, because I had no expectations of it and it left it unpredictable.

Ocean's Twelve (2004,  PG-13)
Ocean's Twelve
This sequel was absolutely awful. How can they get it so wrong, with the list of stars that appeared in this movie? Had to watch it in two parts from boredom and when it came to the 'Julia' scene, I just thought it was laughable

The Reckoning (2004,  R)

Irreversible (2002,  Unrated)
Irreversible
Told in the tradition of that in "Memento" i.e the storyline is played backwards, the film opens with a very visually dark scene accompanied by a pretty bizarre sound (that's still running through my head!! ha ha), along with some very dizzy filming, the viewer isn't particularly aware of what is going on straight away, but within the first couple of scenes the storyline developes and of course you are intrigued to know, how it all began.

The married couple, Cassel and Bellucci are great together on screen in this unique, bizarre and very entertaining film. One scene in particular is very daring and controversial.

Another great performance from Cassel who seems to manage to express every emotion possible throughout the process of the film.

The Crimson Rivers (Les Rivières pourpres) (2001,  R)
The Crimson Rivers (Les Rivières pourpres)
This French speaking, English sub-titled film, was a refreshing enjoyable watch with superb performances by Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel.

The only bad for me is that I don't think it will reach the desired audience purely because of the sub-titles which is a shame.

Le Pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) (2001,  R)

The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999,  R)
The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc
This amazing epic length tale of Joan of Arc requires patience and concentration. For those of you who like battle sense there are a fair few to enjoy. Historians, I?m sure you?ll find this film facsincating and to top it off an incredible performance from Milla Jovovich.

L' Appartement (The Apartment) (1996,  R)
L' Appartement (The Apartment)
I was completely blown away by this storyline. The plot travels along steadily at first and is very 2-dimensional, but soon enough, come clever flashbacks, sub-plots and intertwining relationships, which all managed to link together and yet still keeps you surprised throughout.

Vincent Cassell is as always impressive and monica Bellusi (something I rarely comment on!) was absolutely stunning.

Enjoyably confusing and quite brilliant.

La Haine (Hate) (1996,  R)
La Haine (Hate)
The first film to give Vincent Cassel recognition and rightly so, a great performance. There is no exact storyline here, in a conventional sense of beginning, middle and end, more of a telling of a tale of a riot, three friends, the estate and the police.

Filming the movie in black and white, gave it the feel of an independent film and added to it?s menace.
