In my usual style with such big scale blockbusters, I waited until all the hype calmed down before viewing this film.
I am so pleased to say that Heath Ledger truly did give a great performance in this and the film and character weren?t just hyed because of the tragic circumstances. A fantastic opening scene, this film is packed with content from the storyline, the huge all star cast, to the impressive effects and it was no doubt a huge job of a film to bring together and one that was worthy of all it?s praise. Along with Batman Begins, both films have taken the Batman series to a much more realistic level (if that is at all possible?).
A personal high moment for me was the changing of (the ever so annoying) Katie Homes with the much more talented Maggie Gyllenhaal, with likeness noted.
Jack Nicholson put his mark on the original Batman movie some 20+ years ago and made a great Joker, Heath Ledger stepped up the role to recent times with a different but fantastic portrayal of the character.
Brilliant make up and the best Batman film to date.
A film that leaves you full of emotions. Not the first film to bring about the subject of Homosexuality, yet the size of publicity this film gained, both positively and negatively has probably made it the most talked about Gay Interest film.
What makes this film quite unique for me is the lack of stereotyping in the casting and sitation of the storyline. The storyline builds from a slow moving start to a powerful and emotional tale.
Truly great performances by both Ledger and Gyllenhaal and is part of my favourite films list.
Strangely enough I watched this film because of Joseph Gordon-Levitt being in it and it was Heath Ledger who was the most likeable. It?s a very cheesy teen flick and if nothing else shows how Joseph Gordon-Levitt has grown as an Actor since making these kind of films.
Perhaps one of the more enjoyable teen flicks, but a teen flick all the same.
This film was a brave attempt, but it easily causes confusion. It?s very arty in it?s interpretation, which works well if you have an understanding of that interpretation from the beginning, otherwise you will find yourself lost throughout the film.
Ironically none of the Actors used looked like Dylan (as it seems was intentional) apart from Cate Blanchett, who at times did resemble the iconic star and was without doubt the best version.
What bothers me is as a fan of Bob Dylan is that I found the film was more about the film style than Dylan itself, which pleased me as a film fan, but not a Dylan fan. Also the film isn't particularly revealing in a conventional sense. I believe the different sides of Dylan came across well, but with a loss of content somehow, I hardly know anything more about Dylan than before I watched the film. It almost seems like a working progress.
Known in the UK as Sin Eater. A dark, deep film which was quite hard to follow. I had read about a Sin Eater before in a novel and so had some interest. Heath Ledger shows some great acting in one particular scene, but for me, this only start to warm up slightly about an hour in
