Taken (2009,  PG-13)
Taken
This film takes a short while to find it?s direction, but at the exact point it does, it transforms into different film completely.

I would never have believed that Liam Neeson would be capable of pulling off this role, so I was not only impressed that he managed it, but even more impressed that he did it so well.. This was a super slick Action film with Assassin like qualities. Neeson?s relentless mission to protect his daughter with a take no prisoners is a fast tempo ? blink and you miss it ? Action packed film.

Nell (1994,  PG-13)
Nell
A unique and original film, Jodie Foster plays a great part in this and is a very intersting story.
3
Gangs of New York (2002,  R)
Gangs of New York
A hugely impressive film from Martin Scorsese, everything in the movie is on such a grand level, acting, scenery, it?s epic length.

A great cast from both sides of the pond, where there were Irish with an American accent and Americans with an Irish accent.

Personally, I?m not too much of a fan of Award ceremonies, as I don?t like them to influence my film choices, but it?s easy to see where all the awards came from in the making of this film, Daniel Day-Lewis was outstanding and there's no doubt of him earning his award for this role.

Batman Begins (2005,  PG-13)
Batman Begins
The calibre of actors in this films (with the exception of Katie Holmes) seemed far too talented for this type of movie. The film was all a bit too serious, which as a story in it's own right was ok, but a little too serious for a Batman film I feel. There didn't seem to have much of a comic book feel to it.

I did enjoy the fight training, but thought the casting of Michael Caine a little odd for the role of 'Alfred', Caine's not really known for his posh accent.

Altogether I found it watchable, but not very exciting. I can't see that this would've appealed much to the kids, which I'm sure is the biggest target audience for a superhero film.

Love Actually (2003,  R)
Love Actually
Surprisingly enough I did enjoy this film. Rom Coms are not my usual choice of film, but the various stories held my interest and of course it was packed full of comedy stars.
6
Suspect (1987,  R)
7
The Haunting (1999,  PG-13)
The Haunting
Let me start by saying the special effects in this film were fantastic, but that's not the only reason to watch this film. The performance by Lili Taylor was quite something and was supported well by Catherine Zeta Jones and Liam Neeson and even Owen Wilson acting his usual self fitted in well.

My only complaint about the film would be the ending was ever so slightly drawn out, but I recommend this as a definite watch.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (2005,  PG)
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
This film seems quite lengthly, but it's full of wonderful animation and special effects. A tale, I remember from my childhood and brought to life on the screen well. I did wonder wether younger viewers may find this a little slow paced, however I'm sure the visual content will satisfy those who have imaginations for adventure.

Breakfast on Pluto (2005,  R)
Breakfast on Pluto
An interesting role for Cillian Murphy and one he played well. A tale that seems over the top in parts and realistic in others. It?s not a hugely powerful storyline, yet it?s one that keeps yours attention throughout.
10
A Prayer For The Dying (1987,  R)
11
The Mission (1986,  PG)
The Mission
The Mission started out as quite a fascinating story, showing wonderous views and delving into the Native American culture. The story is one certainly worthy to tell, but have to confess that I lost interest around half way through the film.

Kinsey (2004,  R)
Kinsey
Depicting the true life events of Alfred Kinsey and his famously publicised sex studies that would cause much debate across America during the 1940?s.

Good parts played by Neeson, Linney and O?Donnell and thought in particular the make up envolving the aging of the characters were done particularly well.

A tale with perhaps an underlying moral, that was quite a controversial story of it?s time.
