Essex Boys (2000,  R)
Essex Boys
This fictional story based on the sequence of a true event, shows a glimpse in the British criminal underworld.

With a psychotic performance from Sean Bean and a sinester role for Tom Wilkinson, Essex Boys is a great film of it's genre with a nice twist.
2
North Country (2005,  R)
North Country
A slow moving film, but a good performance by Charlize Theron. It certainly isn?t a glamourous Hollywood film, but a true story with guts.
3
Ronin (1998,  R)
Ronin
A much better film than I remember this being, with a plot that's fast and sometimes hard to keep up with comes great acting by an all star cast, some of the best high speed chase scenes ever to appear in films, terrorism, betrayal, great twists and turns and action packed.

VERDICT: An action thriller that will keep your mind alert and addrenalin pumping
4
Outlaw (2007,  R)
Outlaw
A great gritty British vengeance film, where vigilantes take a stand against the bullies in society.

Just when I thought Sean Bean was past his prime, he pulls off a part that suits him really well.

The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring
Ok I finally took the plunge...

Stuning views magnificant scenery and graphics, a turly magical and mystical film, however, too much of a boys film for me. I can see the appeal this has and for someone who once said that I would never watch this film as long as I live, well I feel good knowing I got through the lengthly flick.

The costumes were fabulous and of course a great set of actors too, perhaps all those things heavily overcompensated for the lack of storyline?

Don't Say a Word (2001,  R)
Don't Say a Word
A fantastic performance by Brittany Murphy makes this story so great. My favourite performance of hers to date. Original story, covering a heist, a mental institution and a kidnap

VERDICT: Definitely recommend.
7
Troy (2004,  R)
Troy
A huge Epic with a great cast. For me the one person who stood out, was Brian Cox as a supporting Actor. Brad Pitt, of course, looked every bit the role of Achiles and Eric Bana was another great choice.

A very enjoyable film, with some great battle scenes.
8
The Island (2005,  PG-13)
The Island
An impressive futuristic story, which is beyond comprehension as an outlook on our future.

A much enjoyed story (perhaps slightly longer than was necessary) with some enjoyable performances and characters. Sean Bean definitely plays a bad guy best, just unfortunate that the role for Djimon Housou wasn?t bigger, but likable performances from Ewan and Scarlett

4 STARS

Shopping (1996,  R)
Shopping
I think this was a better film in it's day when ram-raiding was a real issue in the UK. Re-watched it not too long ago and although it's watchable with some good actors, it's now a little dated
10
Equilibrium (2002,  R)
Equilibrium
This really is a film of two halves I feel, the first showing quite a one dimensional storyline, which seemed quite a poor comparison to ?The Matrix? as it?s critics have suggested and then emerges the second half, where it all starts to make sense and is speeded up a notch.

Christian Bale manages to pull off some impressive shooting and fighting scenes, but it?s still not in the same league as ?The Matrix?.

Sean Bean has made it to Hollywood and into some pretty good roles, strangely though my favourite performance of his, was in a film unavailable on dvd or on Flixster, which was a Catherine Cookson book to film adaption called 'The Fifteen Streets'.

Perhaps his best work is his British work, but you can't blame the guy for going where the money is.

Sean Bean has featured in many great films, but I'm happy to give the Sharpe films a miss.
