A4) Angelina Jolie, 9 out of

  2. Lady

A name that isn't added to my lists lightly as one of the highest paid Actresses in Hollywood, but a few more serious roles, means that Angelina is showing she has more than one talent up her sleeve.

Changeling (2008,  R)
Changeling
Another impressive film from Clint Eastwood. A fascinating storyline based remarkably upon a true story. It?s good to see Angelina in a non-Action/non-love interest role and the era of the 20?s seemed to be accurately portrayed. A strong woman for her time, this film reveals much more than first imagined.

Quite a lengthly film, but with the interesting storyline you?ll find it easy to follow.

Girl, Interrupted (1999,  R)
Girl, Interrupted
I thoroughly enjoyed this film, both at the time of the release and re-watching it now.

Some really good performances, but in particular Angelina Jolie, this is my favourite of hers, it was before she became too 'Hollywood.'

Brings a little awareness to the subjects raised, but also has a sort of hidden message.

VERDICT: If you've not manageed to watch this as yet then I definitely recommend watching.

Wanted (2008,  R)
Wanted
Even better the second time around! This film is a very slick, high Action, Assassin story, adapted from a graphic novel.

A huge opportunity for McAvoy here, going from British tv to a yet another Hollywood film in just the last few years. Impressive graphics throughout, high speed car chases and stunts, all of which offered something completely new, with an enjoyable storyline too, it makes this film ideal for a wide range audience.

For me, it was one of my personal favourites of 2008.

For those of you, who like to take a look at behind the scenes, the Special Features (although quite short) are worth peeking at.

Taking Lives (2004,  Unrated)
Taking Lives
Not a bad serial killer movie, certainly a unique story and one I've watched many times.

The Bone Collector (1999,  R)
The Bone Collector
Much better than I remember this film being. At the time of it's release I wasn't too impressed by it, but this time around I found it a pretty enjoyable film.

Can't say that there were any outstanding performances in this one and it wasn't particularly gory for a serial killer film, but I don't really think that was the main focus here, it was more to do with working together during the circumstances

Shark Tale (2004,  PG)
Shark Tale
This was great, the cartoons looked just like the actors taking place. Really enjoyable
8
Kung Fu Panda (2008,  PG)
Kung Fu Panda
After a bit of a slow start, this film really comes to life about half way through, the animation of course was great, Jack Black's voice completely matched the main character and the ideas and choreography that went into this film was quite something.

This feature length cartoon really has captured something from the Martial Arts movies and with clever little morals for the young ones to catch on to. Kung Fu Panda was a really enjoyable film.
9
Beowulf (2007,  PG-13)
Beowulf
This film is worth seeing, if only for the amazing computer images. This very life-like tale is a phonomenally creative piece. You'll recognise stars even if you didn't know they appeared in the film.

The storyline at times was hard to concentrate on, but that only goes to show the detail that went into the film.

Quite surprising the certificate for this film is just a 12 and there are some pretty violent scenes, certainly not one for the young children to watch.
