Bronson (2009,  R)
Bronson
I don?t think this is quite the film people will be expecting to see when it comes to the infamous British prisoner; Charlie Bronson. Having heard a little about him over the years and being a keen reader on real crime, some of the bits that I did know didn?t seem to arise in the film at all. It certainly has it?s fair share of violence, but that was quite often sheltered by the comedic theme throughout, in fact there were many laugh out loud points in the cinema. Despite the violence shown, I don?t believe it showed Charlie Bronson with enough menace somehow and his it didn't seem to show him suffering particularly well.

Tom Hardy however, gave a great performance as the main character here and was actually unrecognisable when compared to some of his other recent work. The theatrical theme, I wasn?t sure of at the beginning, but soon realised it?s purpose and became quite entertaining and built us a view of his mental state.

For those of you who like to read up on true crime etc and have an interest in this genre, it is worth watching and again Tom Hardy does a great job, but may not be the insightful viewing you might expect. (I know others will disagree).

RocknRolla (2008,  R)
RocknRolla
As predicted Guy Ritchie?s ?RocknRolla? is even better second time around, it?s funnier more calculated and it really give you change to unclutter the complicated characters, who?s with who etc. The three of course who really stand out, even in this great cast of Actors is Tom Wilkinson, Toby Kebbell and Gerard Butler.

Again, second time around, you really get to measure the amount of content squeezed into this film.

Layer Cake (2005,  R)
Layer Cake
An incrediibly clever ganster movie, which sees Daniel Craig at his acting best. Some great characters, some clever twists and unexpected ending
4
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994,  R)
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Kenneth Branagh directs and stars in this screen adaption of Mary Shelly?s Frankenstein, very fitting roles for both Brannagh and Helena Bonham Carter, who both suit the era and the mood of the piece well. For those who are watching this film as a Robert De Niro film (as I did first time around) there may well be some disappointment as (let?s say) he doesn?t reach his acting potential here.

Much of the story is a symbolic gesture and asks as a good metaphoric tale, put together well with the scientific and medical knowledge for authenticity. Perhaps with the most poigment moment being with the blind man scene. Which creates the heart of the story.
