The Matrix Reloaded
The motorway scene at the end makes this worth watching. Probably the weakest of the 3 overall.
3

The battle of the sentinals against Zion make this worth watching for that alone!
4

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
More of the same from the second film really. Has its moments but didn't find as funny as the other 2 films. Still has some great special effects and action scenes...but just felt something was missing this time?

12
Spider-Man 3 (2007,  PG-13)

Plenty of action and amazing SFX,taken to a new level. Has it's slow periods and links more with the first than the second. Sometimes the action can be a bit too frantic to appreciate it all. However still a top quality movie.

Daylight
Slated by critics this is a half decent disaster/ action film as a bunch of drivers get stuck in a tunnel towards Manhatten.
93
Flood (2007,  Unrated)
Flood
This is a fairly decent disaster film. It's a nice change to see a film of this type set outside New York for change! Some of the acting is pretty dour....the old guy playing a marine expert is especially bad, talking at the same pace and tone no matter what the scene. However the SFX in places are impressive and shots of a flooded London are believerable. Overall it would have benefitted from a bigger budget, but it is still watchable.

97
Rambo (Rambo IV) (2008,  R)
Rambo (Rambo IV)
This is a very good enjoyable , but simple film, even for a action film the plot couldn't be more straight forward. Yes this is far more violent, bloody and gory than the previous three. Done very realistically as well similar to the scenes on the beach in saving private ryan. A brutal bloody film and entertaining as a modern day action film. Despite his years Stallone's character is believable in this and he doesn't over do any stunts, action unlike some of the other Rambo films. Well worth seeing if you have seen the others or not.

A great action film with a good plot, lots of shooting, explosions that keeps a fast adrenalin pumping pace throughout. So if you like that check this out!!
106
Most Wanted (1997,  R)
Most Wanted
This is a pretty decent action film, not heard of it before but it's pretty good if it was a straight to DVD release. The first 10 minutes are almost identical to Shooter released this year and the story is very similar. If you enjoyed that you should like this......any film with Jon Voight as the bad guy is worth watching!!

Slatered by critics, this is a cheesey film and far from one of Stallones best. However it's not all bad and if you like comic book, or future set action films you'll like this.
151
Cobra (1986,  R)
Cobra
One of Stallone's earlier action films. Quite gritty and violent at times as he plays a tough cop out to do thing's his way.
152
Stargate (1994,  PG-13)
Stargate
A cool action film with good special effects.
153
The Mummy (1999,  PG-13)
The Mummy
Great special effects, plenty of action and very funny to!
154
The Mummy Returns (2001,  PG-13)
The Mummy Returns
More of the same in this sequels. A good mix of action, comedy and adventure.
155
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008,  PG-13)
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
An enjoyable film to add to the series and very similar to the 2nd but set in China basically. It has good special effects, stunts etc but it does miss Rachel Wiesz in her role. Maria Bello is a fine actress but not sure she is suited to the comic moments as much, good attempt at the English accent though lol. Overall more of the same from the last one but nothing we haven't seen in the first two.
156
The Scorpion King (2002,  PG-13)
The Scorpion King
A good spin off from The Mummy films. This follows the stroy of the Scorpion King from the Mummy Returns, played by the Rock. Quite similar in many ways, it has the same visual feel of the Mummy films if the story is not as good. Still worth watching.
157
Lara Croft - Tomb Raider (2001,  PG-13)
Lara Croft - Tomb Raider
A good action film which takes the best elements from the games and uses them on the big screen. Has some good set piece scenes and big budget effects, but far from great.
158
Lara Croft Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life (2003,  PG-13)
Lara Croft Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life
Better than the first one, done on a much bigger budget and it shows. Lara travels all around the globe in search of the treasure. The action is exciting with great stunts and locations. Also has some great SFX as well. Pure popcorn fun!
159
Young Guns (1988,  R)
Young Guns
A very good modern western with a fine cast and a great story. One of my fave westerns.
160
Young Guns II (1990,  PG-13)
Young Guns II
I really like this western just as good as the first but with a slighty better storyline following the exploits of Billy the Kid as he is hunted down by former friend Pat Barrett.
161
XXX (2002,  PG-13)
XXX
Vin Diesel as Bond could have been the pitch for this movie. XXX is a great no holds barred action film with cool gadgets, SFX, fast cars and hot women with a pumping soundtrack. Even the credits are flashy in true Bond style, like the rest of the film but a little more Xtreme!
162
XXX: State of the Union (XXX: The Next Level) (2005,  PG-13)
XXX: State of the Union (XXX: The Next Level)
A very poor sequel when the first was so good. Just looks wrong and the plot is laughable at times. Stick with the first.
163
Pitch Black (2000,  R)
Pitch Black
An ok sci-fi/action film, overrated really. Plenty of other action films out that are much better than this.
164
The Chronicles of Riddick (2004,  Unrated)
The Chronicles of Riddick
A film on a grand scale with tons of SFX but it doesn't live up to the hype. For serious sci-fi and Vin Diesel fans only.
165
eXistenZ (1999,  R)
eXistenZ
A strange film and a must for gamers. Set in the future where virtual reality games rule, this follows the latest game to be unveiled which leaves it hard to tell the difference between the game and reality. A great idea, but would benefit from repeat viewings to fully grasp what is going on!
166
King Arthur (2004,  PG-13)
King Arthur
A good action film cashing in on the popularity of the big battle epics recently. However doesn't live up to the likes of Gladiator, Troy or Kingdom of Heaven.
167
Four Brothers (2005,  R)
Four Brothers
A good, gritty violent action film as four adopted borthers seek revenge for the murder of their adoptive mother.
168
Money Train (1995,  R)
Money Train
A reasonably enjoyable action-buddy film as they try to rob the money train!
169
The Hard Way (1991,  R)
The Hard Way
Seen this on TV a few times and always forgot the name. An enjoyable film about a big method acting star who teams up with a tough cop to prepare for his new role and ends up in danger!
170
Bulletproof Monk (2003,  PG-13)
Bulletproof Monk
An ok action film with some good martial arts fights and SFX, but nothing amazing here.
171
The Three Musketeers (1993,  PG)
The Three Musketeers
Seen this on TV a couple of times, all star cast and probably the best version of the story I have seen.
172
Entrapment (1999,  PG-13)
Entrapment
A pretty good heist movie as Connery plays a daring thief thought to be long retired. Has good chemistry between the 2 leads and the scenes filmed in Malaysia at the Petrona towers are cool.
173
V for Vendetta (2006,  R)
V for Vendetta
A strange film very different to anything else. Good SFX but overall little action in this, rebel against the big bro government of the future film.
174
Universal Soldier (1992,  R)
Universal Soldier
One of Van Damme's better action films as a futuristic soldier.
175
Sudden Death (1995,  R)
Sudden Death
a so-so action film, set at an ice hockey game. A bit like Snake eyes but with a hostage situatuion. Doesn't pack a punch like some of his other films.
176
Passenger 57 (1992,  R)
Passenger 57
Average action film
177
Raw Deal (1986,  R)
Raw Deal
One of Arnie's worst films in my opinion, not very good at all.
178
End of Days (1999,  R)
End of Days
An odd action film as Arnie goes up against the devil.....enough said.
179
Deja Vu (2006,  PG-13)
Deja Vu
A good blockbuster big budget action film. If you can forgive the silly idea of having a portal that allows them to look back in time 4 days to any point, from any angle and even indoors!?!? Then this is an otherwise very good action film if a little predicatable.
180
Gladiator (2000,  R)
Gladiator
The best big battle epic film I have seen. Great fights, SFX and a well suited cast.
181
Troy (2004,  R)
Troy
A great epic movie with good SFX and good battle scenes. Nearly as good as Gladiator.
182
Kingdom of Heaven (2005,  R)
Kingdom of Heaven
A great battle epic film as huge armies battle to win control of Jerusalem.
183
300 (2007,  R)
300
A great entertaining film, with plenty of action and a very impressive visual style similar to Sin City. Although the fights are great, very violent the use of CGI blood effects gave it quite a comic book feel and help tone the gore side down a bit. The story is very simple and to the point, not a deep film it is all about the battles and the visuals. Great if you liked Troy, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven but some viewers might want a bit more story to break up all the action. However it's definitely worth experiencing!
184
Ultraviolet (2006,  PG-13)
Ultraviolet
I was hoping for a lot more. If anything this has a bit too much cgi, although it helps with a comic book feel to it. Some scenes will make you think you're watching a computer game. It's a mix of Aeon Flux, Blade and Kill Bill but without the blood or gore of the last two. Could have been better.
185
Doom (2005,  R)
Doom
Nothing like Doom 3, felt rushed. Should have stuck to the games plot a bit more. Where's the Cacodemon??
186
Executive Decision (1995,  R)
Executive Decision
A top quality action film with a strong performance from David Suchet. A terrorist group hijack a plane to get their leader released but do they have other plans as well? Plenty of action, stunts and aerial scenes in this tense action /thriller.
187
Reindeer Games (Deception) (2000,  R)
Reindeer Games (Deception)
A cool fun action film starring the stunning Charlize Theron. A newly released prisoner decides to pretend to be his cellmate when he is due to meet his beautiful pen friend. Things take a twist and he has to do his best to get out of a situation of mistaken identity. Has a good twist to!
188
Snakes on a Plane (2006,  R)
Snakes on a Plane
A pretty good action film with an over the top story line. Don't take it seriously and just enjoy the ride!
189
Con Air (1997,  R)
Con Air
One of my favourite action films. Totally over the top story line, lots of fights, stunts, explosions and a thumping soundtrack. Has some funny moments as well.
190
The Rock (1996,  R)
The Rock
Another brilliant action film, helped largely by the location of Alcatraz. Big budget blockbuster and it shows. Has some funny moments between Cage and Connery, great shoot outs and a great car chase. Lost count how many times I have seen it.
191
Batman Begins (2005,  PG-13)
Batman Begins
A good take on the Batman story, taking a more realistic approach into why he became what he is.....but the Batmobile is terrible!!
192
Batman (1989,  PG-13)
Batman
The best Batman film to date, love that Batmobile and Jack Nicholson is perfect as the Joker.
193
Batman Returns (1992,  PG-13)
Batman Returns
Tim Burton does another fine job in this sequel. Very dark and gothic still with a good mix of action and humour as well. Pity the story isn't as good as the first but Michelle Pfeiffer looks great as Catwoman.
194
Batman & Robin (1997,  PG-13)
Batman & Robin
Another entry in the Batman saga. Well made and features a great cast but miles away in comparison to the first two. This feels very camp and more comic like than the dark brooding Batman films by Tim Burton.
195
Batman Forever (1995,  PG-13)
Batman Forever
A very good Batman film with an impressive cast. Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey are well suited to their roles. More comic like than the first two films and with a big injection of camp humour.
196
Torque (2004,  PG-13)
Torque
A cool MTV style movie about biker gangs. A bit like Fast and Furious but on 2 wheels instead. It has a cool, young cast, thumping soundtrack and some good chase scenes. Slightly over do the SFX in some scenes getting way beyond reality but overall an enjoyable action film.
197
The Last Boy Scout (1991,  R)
The Last Boy Scout
A pretty good action film as a cop and an ex American footballer team up to investigate a couple of strange deaths.
198
Eraser (1996,  R)
Eraser
One of Arnies better recent action films. Gets a bit silly near the end but has good fights, explosions and one liners. The SFX for the weapons is very good.
199
First Knight (1995,  PG-13)
First Knight
A pretty good swordplay film with a strong cast....but this type of film has been done better, many times since.
200
Hellboy (2004,  PG-13)
Hellboy
A very good comic book adaptation. Much better than some of the bigger comic to movie films of late. It has some cool effects and a very unlikely superhero. Throw in plenty of action and a good dose of humour to and you have a very enjoyable film.
201
Starship Troopers (1997,  R)
Starship Troopers
Plenty of over the top action as we fight an alien invasion.
202
Romeo Must Die (2000,  R)
Romeo Must Die
A good action film with plenty of fights, shoot-outs between rival gangs and those caught up in between.
203
The Dukes of Hazzard (2005,  PG-13)
The Dukes of Hazzard
A great car, cool stunts, bar brawls, lots of funny jokes and the sexy Jessica Simpson. What more could you want in this action/comedy??
204
Chill Factor (1999,  R)
Chill Factor
Quite an average low budget action film. Not the greatest plot in the world.
205
Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003,  R)
Kill Bill: Volume 1
A very comic book like action film as one lady seeks a hell of a lot of revenge. The fight against the Crazy 88 is excellent.
206
Jurassic Park III (2001,  PG-13)
Jurassic Park III
Panned by critics upon release, this is still a very enjoyable film. It is the weakest of the 3, the story is not the best or most original. The ending also feels like it was rushed and happens very abruptly. However there are still very few films with such convincing dinosaurs in them and the effects are great. Just a pity there wasn't a bit more of the T-rex fight near the start. Sit back and enjoy the visuals.
207
Ghost Rider (2007,  PG-13)
Ghost Rider
A very average comic book action film, although the SFX are very good.
208
Windtalkers (2002,  R)
Windtalkers
A very good film with huge battle scenes that reminded me of Saving Private Ryan. It's a good story if a little drawn out, but the action/battle scenes are on a huge scale. Quite different to most films directed by John Woo.
209
Cannonball Run II (1984,  PG)
Cannonball Run II
I think this is more fun than the original with even more over the top action, fights and lovely cars.
210
Crank (2006,  R)
Crank
A cool high octane action film that keeps the adrenalin pumping just like in the movie, if totally over the top.
211
Transformers (2007,  PG-13)
Transformers
Just what you want from a blockbuster film. Great action all the way, amazing SFX and a fair share of humour to. The effects are just breathtaking, not felt like that since I watched The Matrix! It has a very simple storyline and as a fan of the toys, animated movie it would have been nice to see more of the other Transformers characters. Overall though it's a brill blockbuster that will thoroughly entertain you!!
212
Smokin' Aces (2007,  R)
Smokin' Aces
A quality film with one or two twists. Also featuring the most over the top assassins possible!
213
The Marine (2006,  PG-13)
The Marine
Pure all out explosive, action fun.......and easy on the brain!
214
Blood Diamond (2006,  R)
Blood Diamond
A great film dealing with so many issues around the diamond trade and life in general in Africa. Full of action and great acting, a moving film and brutally violent at times to.
215
Next (2007,  PG-13)
Next
A very decent action film with cool special effects. Good for a nights entertainment without being great in anyway. Slightly disappointing ending I felt, but overall good fun!
216
The Last Ride (2004,  Unrated)
The Last Ride
An ok film produced by the director of The Fast and the Furious. There are some good chase scenes but overall it does have a TV movie feel to it and obviously endorsed by Pontiac! Might not have enough car scenes and action to keep most petrol heads happy!
217
Ocean's Thirteen (2007,  PG-13)
Ocean's Thirteen
A very good film that is closer to the first one than the sequel, which is a good thing! A very olaborate heist plan again as they look to take revenge on a new Casino boss in Las Vegas. Good fun but doesn't quite have the Razmatazz of the first!
218
Pathfinder (2007,  R)
Pathfinder
A pretty good action film with some great battle scenes and quite bloody, brutal to. The story is very simple and straight forward and is enjoyable to watch if not quite as good as the old Arnie Conan films, but if you like those you should enjoy this as well.
219
National Treasure (2004,  PG)
National Treasure
A good fun film for all the family. A type of urban Indiana Jones film with lots of puzzle solving to be done.
220
National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007,  PG)
National Treasure: Book of Secrets
More of the same in this big budget sequel. Most of the original cast return for the 2nd outing. This time they set out looking for the lost city of gold. The action takes place over America, to Paris and London as well. If you liked the first or treasure hunt films you'll love this. There may well be a 3rd?
221
Highway (2001,  R)
Highway
A pretty good road trip movie with some bizarre things happening along the way.
222
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007,  PG)
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
I heard this was better than the first but to be honest the first is probably a better alround film and more fun. This is ok but more of the same really nothing new. I was hoping for more!
223
Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor) (2007,  R)
Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor)
Has its good moments but it is a bit drawn out really. A missed opportunity really. It won't make any sense if you haven't seen the first as well!
224
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) (2006,  R)
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)
A very good Russian film, the first in a triology about the battle between good and evil. Has some great SFX, if you like vampire films etc you should like this. A little weird at times but a very stylised film.
225
Turbulence (1997,  R)
Turbulence
This is a fairly good action film with a lot of recognizable faces in it. Not the greatest plot but plenty of action. Not heard of it before but passable for a nights viewing.
226
Shoot 'Em Up (2007,  R)
Shoot 'Em Up
A great all out action film. Totally over the top action and violence in this rather slick, stylish film. It's a mix of Sin City, Kill Bill, Smokin' Aces and a hint of Pulp Fiction to. So if you like any of those, you'll get a blast from this and know what to expect!
227
Stardust (2007,  PG-13)
Stardust
A very good enjoyable film. A good mix of action, humour and loads of well known faces. Good fun film!
228
The Kingdom (2007,  R)
The Kingdom
This is a very good film, well made with some great actors. Recommended by a friend and glad I saw it. It has a political edge to it about terrorism and links between the West and Middle East because of oil. There are some great action scenes and the final shootout is very well directed. Go see it!
229
Top Gun (1986,  PG)
Top Gun
Still one of the best action films around.
230
Fire Birds (1990,  PG-13)
Fire Birds
At last!!! I have been trying to remember the name of this film and find it for ages! Known as Wings of the Apache in the UK. This is basically Top Gun with the Apache gunship helicopter...I didn't even realize at the time Nicholas Cage and Tommy Lee Jones were in this! Must have have been a long time ago when I saw it, but it has some great action scenes. Well worth checking out!
231
I Am Legend (2007,  PG-13)
I Am Legend
This is a pretty good film, although saying that there is not really a lot of "story" to make a film of here. Especially When Will Smith is the last man on Earth, but despite this he gives a great performance and the film holds your interest even with the majority of it having just one character. There are some cool scenes of a deserted New York city (Where else!) but some of the other effects are so-so. Unfortunately there are a lot plot holes in the story and many questions that won't be answered. Good viewing but not groundbreaking.
232
The Golden Compass (2007,  PG-13)
The Golden Compass
A good film with some great special effects and a great cast. Maybe a bit more child orientated than some others films of this type that have come out recently. Similar to The Chronicles of Narnia. If you like a good fantasy film you'll enjoy this, just hope the next part is a bit better.
233
Seraphim Falls (2007,  R)
Seraphim Falls
A pretty decent western with a quality cast. It is very much a tracking a man on the run film, a very dangerous man as it happens. It is wonderfully shot to as the backdrop changes from the snowy mountains, forests, open plains and into the desert. It gets a little surreal in the final third but still an interesting film.
234
3:10 to Yuma (2007,  R)
3:10 to Yuma
A very good western by todays standards and better than a few I have seen recently. Much more like an old school western like The outlaw Josey Wales. Good performances all round and plenty of action along the way.
235
Bloodrayne (2006,  R)
Bloodrayne
Another pretty bad Uwe Boll film, but not his worst! Had a lot of promise with a strong cast and based on a cool vampire hack and slash game. However this is pretty poor, none of the "stars' give a half decent performance and the fight choreography is very lame compared to most films of today, no energy or passion, very slow. There is a fair bit of blood, a Meat Loaf cameo and half decent CGI and that is it! Stick with Blade!
236
Outlaw (2007,  R)
Outlaw
This is a very good film, quite violent and gritty with a strong cast. Fed up with the soft treatment of criminals and thugs in England, a group forms to administer their own justice. A very relevant subject at the present time as a gang culture seems to be on the rise in England. Although the films deals with getting back at those directly linked to the characters in the film, rather than random people. Everyone will have a view on this. Maybe it could have been done slightly better, they storyline wavers a little in the middle. However it will provoke a reaction from everyone.
237
Chaos (2005,  R)
Chaos
A pretty decent action film for a straight to DVD offering. It has a good cast and is entertaining enough, just a bit predictable. However most action fans will enjoy this.
238
Drop Zone (1994,  R)
Drop Zone
Only just got round to finally watching this action film from the early nineties! It's pretty good for the action films that were around at the time and certainly enjoyable enough to be worth checking out if you haven't seen it already. Quite similar to Point Break but with sky divers!
239
The Land That Time Forgot (1975,  PG)
The Land That Time Forgot
This is a great family classic! A little dated now in terms of special effects etc but probably cutting edge at the time. A great fun action film with all sorts of creatures in it. If you're a fan of the old Sinbad or Clash of the Titans type films you'll love this. I can't be the only one in my friends list who has seen this!?! lol
240
Jason and the Argonauts (2000,  Unrated)
Jason and the Argonauts
A great action film remake that was shown on TV recently with a strong cast and updated SFX.
241
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004,  PG)
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
A decent attempt at something different. An ok story line and plenty of action. It has a similar visual style as Sin City with nearly all CGI backgrounds and environments but tweaked slightly to give a comic book feel to it. Well worth checking out if you have missed it so far.
242
Cloverfield (2008,  PG-13)
Cloverfield
WOW! This film is brilliant! What can I say believe the hype. This is such an engaging film you won't be able to take your eyes off the screen for a second. This is a mix of action, drama, disaster, and sci-fi all rolled into one and even with a touch of romance to. It was much better than I expected it to be given all the hype around it. The film is viewed through the playback of a camcorder after an event in New York, Kinda Blair Witch like but better. The first person feel of it really brings you into the action, panic and confusion as the events unfold. This is set to be a cult classic! If you haven't seen it yet put it to the top of your to watch/rental list! It feels like a roller-coaster ride you don't want to end!
243
The Condemned (2007,  R)
The Condemned
A pretty decent if violent action film with backing from the WWE. The story is pretty good, although it starts to get a bit repetitive as it goes on. Reminded me slightly of the Running Man. Overall a lot better than I expected and Vinnie Jones is good as the bad guy, as always.
244
Dragon Wars (D-War) (War of the Dragons) (2007,  PG-13)
Dragon Wars (D-War) (War of the Dragons)
For a straight to DVD release the special effects, CGI and stunts, were very good. It had a much bigger budget feel to it. The story and plot are all a bit simple but you know what to expect. The creatures look good. Overall totally over the top B-movie monster mash fun, not to be taken too seriously.
245
Escape from L.A. (1996,  R)
Escape from L.A.
A reasonable sequel to Escape from New York which was made 15 years earlier! Starting to look a little dated now but it has a certain retro action flick charm about it.
246
Léon (The Professional) (1994,  R)
Léon (The Professional)
I have finally got round to seeing this and watched the extended version. This is a great film about the relationship between a Hitman and a 12 year old girl left orphaned after her family is killed. It is violent without being too graphic or brutal. This is nothing like your typical action, assassin film and has some great scenes between the two lead characters. A little strange but a classic and I'm not surprised it has reached a cult status.
247
War (Rogue Assassin) (2007,  R)
War (Rogue Assassin)
This is a pretty good action film featuring an assassin who seems to be playing off the Triads and Yukuza against each other. There is plenty of action, car chase, shootouts, sword fights and quite brutal to. Maybe some of the fight scenes could have been a bit better or more of them but overall this is a quality film worth checking out.
248
Hitman (2007,  R)
Hitman
This is an enjoyable action film with plenty of cool action sequences, shoot-outs and chases. It's based on the series of popular video games and stays quite true to parts of the games. The way the missions are relayed, location, suit, outfit changes and even some of the tactics used in the game are shown in the film. So this should keep the games fans happy. For everyone else this is just a cool stylized action film, which reminded me of the Transporter films quite a bit.
249
Death Sentence (2007,  R)
Death Sentence
This is a very good revenge action film from the director of Saw, spot the Jigsaw face! The story as with a lot of these films is a bit over the top. Kevin Bacon starts as a calm mild mannered white collar worker who suddenly changes into a raw hate filled father after the death of his son. Pretty handy with a range of guns all of a sudden as well. Apart from that the film is great and has plenty of decent action scenes and some great performances from the two lead characters.
250
Gabriel (2007,  Unrated)
Gabriel
A real missed opportunity, I was hoping for much more after seeing the trailer. The idea is good but the end result is not. It trys too hard to be a mix of the Matrix and Sin city, but the fights look strange and the CGI is over used. Watch it on TV if you have to but don't pay to see this.
251
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (AVP 2) (2007,  R)
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (AVP 2)
Well this is much better than I expected. After the rather disappointing first AVP this has a lot more action in it. It reminded me a lot of the Aliens film in the second half of the movie and some scenes were very similar whether that was deliberate or not is hard to say. It's good to see continuation from the earlier Predator and Alien films as well in this, such as the weapons and behaviour seen in those films help link it to both franchises. Overall a good action/horror that is better than the first by a long way. Oh for those complaining the film is too dark, adjust the brightness!
252
Never Back Down (2008,  PG-13)
Never Back Down
Yes this does kinda add up to The Karate Kid for the Youtube generation, with an MTV makeover. This time using MMA basically like UFC, cage fighting using any fighting style. Despite the obvious plot and seeing this type of film more than a few times, this is pretty decent. It has a strong cast and the fight scenes are well shot. There is an extra on the DVD to get each of the fights in the film broken down into how they were filmed etc which is pretty good...all this and the beautiful Amber Heard!
253
Hancock (2008,  PG-13)
Hancock
A cool blockbuster film with a good cast and great SFX but it just doesn't land a knockout punch for me. It all starts well enough with a funny take on of all the superhero films with a guy called Hancock who causes destruction whereever he goes and becomes hated for it. There are some great action scenes and very good SFX but the final third of the film has a twist and takes the film in a totally different direction to the rest of the film. Well worth seeing though!
254
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008,  PG-13)
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I have finally seen it and have mixed feelings. It just doesn't have some of the old Indy magic. The story is even more far fetched than usual and maybe it's a bit overloaded with CGI as well. Cate Blanchett's character is a bit OTT almost to the point of feeling like a comic book character. Overall still an entertaining film but not up there with the first three.
255
Iron Man (2008,  PG-13)
Iron Man
Another comic based superhero action movie, seems to be an awful lot of them lately. This one definitely sits up there with some of the best of them so far! I would have liked a few more action scenes once he has created the suit to really show it off. However the action scenes you do get are great and with very good SFX. This is just a fun, enjoyable, cool action film well worth seeing.
256
The Incredible Hulk (2008,  PG-13)
The Incredible Hulk
A more action packed take on the green Hulk than the last version. Good special effects and plenty of action......still far from great though, worth a rent.
257
Jumper (2008,  PG-13)
Jumper
Considering the criticism this got upon release I expected this to be truly awful. For sure it is a no brainer, action flick overloaded with SFX but I found it quite enjoyable with some cool action scenes. Put your brain on neutral and just enjoy the entertainment!
258
Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil (2006,  R)
Behind Enemy Lines II: Axis of Evil
A low budget sequel to the quite enjoyable 2001 film starring Gene Hackman. The original is head and shoulders above this. I would watch that or Black Hawk Down again instead of this. Though there are quite a lot of familiar faces in this. Catch it if it's on TV.
259
Vantage Point (2008,  PG-13)
Vantage Point
A very good enjoyable action/thriller with a good cast. There may be a few plot lines you think that wouldn't happen etc but overall seeing the different interactions between the main characters from each view point was good. It has some slight twists and a pretty damn good car chase to!
260
The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008,  PG)
The Spiderwick Chronicles
A great little enchanting, magical film with some great characters and creatures in it. The kids all act very well and it's good the film is set in modern times with typical everyday kids in a common situation. If you're under 16 this would probably get 5 stars, but it's enjoyable for big kids too.
261
The Dark Knight (2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
A very good film with an awful lot of hype, and just about lives up to it. This is how we want to see Batman, a much darker version than most of the comical offerings from years ago. This is intense crime/action/drama at it's best with some neat twists, great action scenes and wonderful acting talent on show. It's a little long but you barely notice as it progresses at a great pace with lots of great plot lines. See it as soon as you can!
262
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2) (2008,  PG-13)
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2)
A very good film with some great scenes, characters in it. The market scene with so much going on and so many different creatures to admire is really good. Despite the much bigger budget, clearly seen in the SFX alone, I'm not sure this has the same impact as the first which was more of a sleeper hit. Still it is a feast for the eyes, it has some cool fight scenes and plenty of humour to. More of the same from the first really.
263
10,000 B.C. (2008,  PG-13)
10,000 B.C.
Not as bad as I expected after hearing the critic reviews. It has some good moments and the SFX are pretty good. Starts to get a bit like a battle epic towards the end like 300, Troy but it doesn't come close to either of them. Ok for a rent.
264
Street Kings (2008,  R)
Street Kings
A very good film with a strong cast. An interesting story involving shady goings on, bad cops, not so good cops. It is very entertaining and a good all round film. A more action packed film, but similar in some ways to the likes of Departed. Even Hugh Laurie makes an appearance as does the rapper The Game. Go see it!
265
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior (2008,  PG-13)
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior
This straight to DVD prequel was never going to WOW anyone, but for the low budget it's ok. Can't say I recognize anyone in it and the SFX are far from stunning. However I thought it was fairly good, it has some good fight scenes and plenty of humour to. If you enjoyed the Mummy, Scorpion King films or any with a group setting off on a quest you will probably like this.
266
Knowing (2009,  PG-13)
Knowing
A very enjoyable film and although a big budget film it doesn't overload you with SFX scenes. It's part action, disaster film but with a good solid story line to it. The action/disaster scenes are very intense and not seen on this scale before. Not everyone will enjoy the way it ends but overall a very good film worth seeing on the big screen.
267
Wanted (2008,  R)
Wanted
A very enjoyable action film with some great SFX and a brill car chase. You really need to switch your brain off though as it is all very unbelievable. Some might see it as a Matrix wannabe, no bad thing, but it's not up to those levels. Still a good film and worth watching if you like cool, action films.
268
Doomsday (2008,  R)
Doomsday
A very good, violent, gory action film with an eclectic mix of ideas from 28 weeks later, Mad Max and the Escape from NY/L.A. films. The plot is a kinda mix of those three films as well. Not original by any means but it has plenty of action all right and some bloody battles along the way. From the same director as the Descent and Dog Soldiers! If you like any of the films mentioned you'll enjoy this.
269
Terminator Salvation (2009,  PG-13)
Terminator Salvation
A very good addition to the series, better than the 3rd. Full of near non-stop action through out. A whole new range of terminators are on show and there are some great SFX/ action scenes. Some might not like the plot as it does differ from the first 3 where the action is pretty much one on one. This is very much a full on war. Go see it.
270
The Replacement Killers (1998,  R)
The Replacement Killers
A very cool stylized action film with plenty of shoot outs and a good cast. If you missed this it's well worth a watch.
271
Taken (2009,  PG-13)
Taken
A very good nitty-gritty action/thriller. It packs a real punch not just for the great action scenes and fights but also for the storyline and good acting. I wasn't convinced at first at casting Liam Neeson in this type of role, but he plays the part of a doting father hell bent on revenge and getting his daughter back very well.
272
Death Race (2008,  R)
Death Race
A very good if totally OTT action film. A mix of Fast and the furious meets Running Man. Great no-brainer action film to kill 90mins with complete with some seriously modified cars!!
273
Bullitt (1968,  PG)
Bullitt
A classic action film with a good car chase scene that set the standard for many other action films. It's clear to see how it influenced films made even 30 years later. Apart from the key scene though it's quite average overall but with a very good cast.
274
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009,  PG-13)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
A very good sequel with even more bots and action on a bigger scale. Great SFX again and plenty of funny moments as well. Maybe a slightly less WOW factor second time round after the impact of the first. Very enjoyable and worth seeing on the big screen.
Have to just add don't believe the haters!!!! half star/ 1 star reviews?!? WTF have you seen any films?
275
Road House 2: Last Call (2006,  R)
Road House 2: Last Call
A pretty decent if predictable action film. It works ok as a sequel although I don't think there are any character connections? Just the same style of plot but brought up to date. Some pretty good choreographed fight scenes make this slightly above average.
276
Bangkok Dangerous (2008,  R)
Bangkok Dangerous
An ok action film with a decent enough production. Some odd storylines, plot developments but the action more than makes up for it. However you might like something along the lines of Vantage Point better, similar in some respects.
277
Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle (2003,  PG-13)
Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle
A cheesey non-stop action comedy which never slows down for the full 90mins. Not as good as the first but it still has plenty of silly action and a good cast, including a very young Shia LaBeouf!! Not bad brainless fun if nothing else is on.
278
Body of Lies (2008,  R)
Body of Lies
A very good film with solid performances from the lead actors. There have been a few films that deal with the issue of terrorists in the middle east recently. Along with The Kingdom this is the one of the best. It has a good balance of action and drama, without any long drawn out sequences or an over complicated plot. It delivers the message it is getting across in a very good way.
279
Toy Soldiers (1991,  R)
Toy Soldiers
A good typical early 90's action film. A group of terrorists take hostages at the local boarding school where the kids have some very important parents. It has some good action scenes and a well assembled cast. If you missed this before it's well worth a watch.
280
Robocop 3 (1993,  PG-13)
Robocop 3
I finally got round to seeing this, knowing it wasn't going to be that good. I was surprised that quite a few cast members of the first two were still in it. Sadly no Paul Weller as Robocop and it shows! The story, acting, SFX all of it was pretty rubbish compared to the cult status of the first one. It's been dumbed down quite a bit too and not as violent as the first two either. One to avoid, maybe the remake of the first due next year will put things back on track.
281
Until Death (2007,  R)
Until Death
Falls into the trailer made it look so much better category. Pity but very run of the mill action film. Oh and don't expect to see any martial arts in this!
282
Street Fighter (1994,  PG-13)
Street Fighter
A very cheesey action film based on the Street Fighter 2 game. Totally over the top, close to being a comedy, one for fans of the game. Just a pity that such a massive global cult game only has this as a live action movie offering. Very disappointed at the lack of fighting in this. Only the last 20 mins make up for the rest of the film.
283
Eagle Eye (2008,  PG-13)
Eagle Eye
A good conspiracy theory action, thriller. A mix of Enemy of the state and Terminator in a bizarre way. Plenty of good chase scenes, and big budget effects make this an enjoyable thrill ride.
284
Quantum of Solace (2008,  PG-13)
Quantum of Solace
A very good action film continuing right on from Casino Royale. Plenty of action, chases and explosions. Has a certain Bourne Trilogy feel to a lot of the stunts and fights. The Bond films now are more gritty, raw without the tongue in cheek humour of the past films. One for all out action entertainment but not the best story for a Bond film.
285
The Punisher (2004,  R)
The Punisher
Have to say this one slipped me by, had no idea this was made so recently and had the likes of John Travolta in it! A very good action film with plenty of shoot outs and stunts. It has a well assembled cast of recognizable faces. A basic tale of revenge but how he goes about it, is what makes the film good.
286
Hollywood Homicide (2003,  PG-13)
Hollywood Homicide
An enjoyable enough action comedy set in Hollywood. Not sure Harrison Ford is suited to comedy. A bit like Beverly Hills Cop but toned down a little. Good attempt but not a patch on Beverly Hills or Rush Hour.
287
Tau ming chong (Warlords) (2007,  Unrated)
Tau ming chong (Warlords)
Another big battle epic set in China's past. Some of the battle scenes are very good and the acting is impressive but the overall story just wasn't that interesting to me. It just sets up one battle up after another really. Curse of the Golden flower was visually more impressive and has a better storyline to it. The two are very similar.
288
The Spirit (2008,  PG-13)
The Spirit
A pretty decent comic book romp in the same graphic style as Sin City. Unfortunately any similarities end there, despite a strong cast this fails to pack a punch. I didn't know anything about the comic book and you have to wait halfway through the film to get any idea of the characters background. I felt it could have been better. Maybe one more for fans of Frank Miller stories or comic books. Silly over the top fun action but nothing special.
289
Beverly Hills Cop II (1987,  R)
Beverly Hills Cop II
A good funny follow up to the first film. A great mix of action, comedy and shoot outs. Same as the first really but on a bigger scale with a bigger budget. Look out for a very young appearance from Chris Rock as the valet driver.
290
Beverly Hills Cop III (1994,  R)
Beverly Hills Cop III
The weakest in the series by quite a way. The first 2 were very good and I thought the second film was the best, just a bit slicker than the other two. It's a real shame that the Taggert character is not in this one. It starts with plenty of action but things get a bit silly and camp at the wonderworld theme park. Good to see Bronson Pinchot, Serge, back from the first film though. Hopefully next years 4th installment will have as many of the characters from the original as possible and a better story than this.
291
Revolver (2005,  R)
Revolver
A great crime drama with a a good cast. For a change for a Guy Ritchie gangster film this isn't about East end gangsters in London and there is no humour in this. It makes a nice change and the story is very good. The plot gets a bit twisted and can be hard to follow at times. However it's one of the better gangster films I've seen in a long while. Slick and stylish with some great twists.
292
Tropa de Elite (The Elite Squad) (2007,  R)
Tropa de Elite (The Elite Squad)
A very good film, although I had hoped for something a little bit more after the trailer. It's more of an action/drama dealing with the drug trade in the slums of Rio in Brazil. It has a good story and is well made and shot with a fair share of brutal, violent action scenes. Almost feels like a documentary at times it has that raw feel about it. From the same director as the City of God.
293
Starship Troopers 2 - Hero of the Federation (2004,  R)
Starship Troopers 2 - Hero of the Federation
A run of the mill low budget straight to DVD sequel. Considering the budget it isn't really bad but it's not good either. It borrows a lot of ideas from other films bit of a mix of Aliens, The Thing, Body snatchers. For a film that has a made for TV feel about it could have been a lot worse.
294
Starship Troopers: Marauder (2008,  Unrated)
Starship Troopers: Marauder
A fairly decent 3rd installment better than the 2nd and not as good as the first. It has some of the cast of the original back and I think it was produced by Paul Verhoeven who directed the first. So you have the same over the top humour ads to sign up to the federation, lots of bugs, some gore, a group nude scene and big guns much like the first. Watch it if it's on TV and nothing else is on.
