More of the same as the first 2 films but this time ending up in Paris for the finale. Although the franchise is starting to get a little old now, the first had a good story the 2nd is my fave for the action and comedy and this is more like the second film. Just getting a bit predictable now, but still good fun! |

Flood (2007, Unrated)
This is a fairly decent disaster film. It's a nice change to see a film of this type set outside New York for change! Some of the acting is pretty dour....the old guy playing a marine expert is especially bad, talking at the same pace and tone no matter what the scene. However the SFX in places are impressive and shots of a flooded London are believerable. Overall it would have benefitted from a bigger budget, but it is still watchable. |

Rambo (Rambo IV) (2008, R)
This is a very good enjoyable , but simple film, even for a action film the plot couldn't be more straight forward. Yes this is far more violent, bloody and gory than the previous three. Done very realistically as well similar to the scenes on the beach in saving private ryan. A brutal bloody film and entertaining as a modern day action film. Despite his years Stallone's character is believable in this and he doesn't over do any stunts, action unlike some of the other Rambo films. Well worth seeing if you have seen the others or not. |

Shooter (2007, R)
A great action film with a good plot, lots of shooting, explosions that keeps a fast adrenalin pumping pace throughout. It's a little predictable and Danny Glover talks like he is wearing a gum shield for some reason!? Overall though I thought it is very similar and just as good as The Bourne Identity. So if you like that check this out!! |
|
| 106 |
Most Wanted (1997, R)
This is a pretty decent action film, not heard of it before but it's pretty good if it was a straight to DVD release. The first 10 minutes are almost identical to Shooter released this year and the story is very similar. If you enjoyed that you should like this......any film with Jon Voight as the bad guy is worth watching!! |

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008, PG-13)
An enjoyable film to add to the series and very similar to the 2nd but set in China basically. It has good special effects, stunts etc but it does miss Rachel Wiesz in her role. Maria Bello is a fine actress but not sure she is suited to the comic moments as much, good attempt at the English accent though lol. Overall more of the same from the last one but nothing we haven't seen in the first two. |

300 (2007, R)
A great entertaining film, with plenty of action and a very impressive visual style similar to Sin City. Although the fights are great, very violent the use of CGI blood effects gave it quite a comic book feel and help tone the gore side down a bit. The story is very simple and to the point, not a deep film it is all about the battles and the visuals. Great if you liked Troy, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven but some viewers might want a bit more story to break up all the action. However it's definitely worth experiencing! |

Jurassic Park III (2001, PG-13)
Panned by critics upon release, this is still a very enjoyable film. It is the weakest of the 3, the story is not the best or most original. The ending also feels like it was rushed and happens very abruptly. However there are still very few films with such convincing dinosaurs in them and the effects are great. Just a pity there wasn't a bit more of the T-rex fight near the start. Sit back and enjoy the visuals. |

Transformers (2007, PG-13)
Just what you want from a blockbuster film. Great action all the way, amazing SFX and a fair share of humour to. The effects are just breathtaking, not felt like that since I watched The Matrix! It has a very simple storyline and as a fan of the toys, animated movie it would have been nice to see more of the other Transformers characters. Overall though it's a brill blockbuster that will thoroughly entertain you!! |

More of the same in this big budget sequel. Most of the original cast return for the 2nd outing. This time they set out looking for the lost city of gold. The action takes place over America, to Paris and London as well. If you liked the first or treasure hunt films you'll love this. There may well be a 3rd? |

Fire Birds (1990, PG-13)
At last!!! I have been trying to remember the name of this film and find it for ages! Known as Wings of the Apache in the UK. This is basically Top Gun with the Apache gunship helicopter...I didn't even realize at the time Nicholas Cage and Tommy Lee Jones were in this! Must have have been a long time ago when I saw it, but it has some great action scenes. Well worth checking out! |
|
| 231 |
I Am Legend (2007, PG-13)
This is a pretty good film, although saying that there is not really a lot of "story" to make a film of here. Especially When Will Smith is the last man on Earth, but despite this he gives a great performance and the film holds your interest even with the majority of it having just one character. There are some cool scenes of a deserted New York city (Where else!) but some of the other effects are so-so. Unfortunately there are a lot plot holes in the story and many questions that won't be answered. Good viewing but not groundbreaking. |
|
| 232 |
The Golden Compass (2007, PG-13) |
|
| 233 |
Seraphim Falls (2007, R)
A pretty decent western with a quality cast. It is very much a tracking a man on the run film, a very dangerous man as it happens. It is wonderfully shot to as the backdrop changes from the snowy mountains, forests, open plains and into the desert. It gets a little surreal in the final third but still an interesting film. |
|
| 234 |
3:10 to Yuma (2007, R) |
|
| 235 |
Bloodrayne (2006, R)
Another pretty bad Uwe Boll film, but not his worst! Had a lot of promise with a strong cast and based on a cool vampire hack and slash game. However this is pretty poor, none of the "stars' give a half decent performance and the fight choreography is very lame compared to most films of today, no energy or passion, very slow. There is a fair bit of blood, a Meat Loaf cameo and half decent CGI and that is it! Stick with Blade! |
|
| 236 |
Outlaw (2007, R)This is a very good film, quite violent and gritty with a strong cast. Fed up with the soft treatment of criminals and thugs in England, a group forms to administer their own justice. A very relevant subject at the present time as a gang culture seems to be on the rise in England. Although the films deals with getting back at those directly linked to the characters in the film, rather than random people. Everyone will have a view on this. Maybe it could have been done slightly better, they storyline wavers a little in the middle. However it will provoke a reaction from everyone. |

The Land That Time Forgot (1975, PG)
This is a great family classic! A little dated now in terms of special effects etc but probably cutting edge at the time. A great fun action film with all sorts of creatures in it. If you're a fan of the old Sinbad or Clash of the Titans type films you'll love this. I can't be the only one in my friends list who has seen this!?! lol |

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004, PG) |

Cloverfield (2008, PG-13)
WOW! This film is brilliant! What can I say believe the hype. This is such an engaging film you won't be able to take your eyes off the screen for a second. This is a mix of action, drama, disaster, and sci-fi all rolled into one and even with a touch of romance to. It was much better than I expected it to be given all the hype around it. The film is viewed through the playback of a camcorder after an event in New York, Kinda Blair Witch like but better. The first person feel of it really brings you into the action, panic and confusion as the events unfold. This is set to be a cult classic! If you haven't seen it yet put it to the top of your to watch/rental list! It feels like a roller-coaster ride you don't want to end! |

Dragon Wars (D-War) (War of the Dragons) (2007, PG-13)
For a straight to DVD release the special effects, CGI and stunts, were very good. It had a much bigger budget feel to it. The story and plot are all a bit simple but you know what to expect. The creatures look good. Overall totally over the top B-movie monster mash fun, not to be taken too seriously. |

Escape from L.A. (1996, R) |

Léon (The Professional) (1994, R)
I have finally got round to seeing this and watched the extended version. This is a great film about the relationship between a Hitman and a 12 year old girl left orphaned after her family is killed. It is violent without being too graphic or brutal. This is nothing like your typical action, assassin film and has some great scenes between the two lead characters. A little strange but a classic and I'm not surprised it has reached a cult status. |
|
| 247 |
War (Rogue Assassin) (2007, R)
This is a pretty good action film featuring an assassin who seems to be playing off the Triads and Yukuza against each other. There is plenty of action, car chase, shootouts, sword fights and quite brutal to. Maybe some of the fight scenes could have been a bit better or more of them but overall this is a quality film worth checking out. |

| 248 |
Hitman (2007, R)
This is an enjoyable action film with plenty of cool action sequences, shoot-outs and chases. It's based on the series of popular video games and stays quite true to parts of the games. The way the missions are relayed, location, suit, outfit changes and even some of the tactics used in the game are shown in the film. So this should keep the games fans happy. For everyone else this is just a cool stylized action film, which reminded me of the Transporter films quite a bit. |

| 249 |
Death Sentence (2007, R)
This is a very good revenge action film from the director of Saw, spot the Jigsaw face! The story as with a lot of these films is a bit over the top. Kevin Bacon starts as a calm mild mannered white collar worker who suddenly changes into a raw hate filled father after the death of his son. Pretty handy with a range of guns all of a sudden as well. Apart from that the film is great and has plenty of decent action scenes and some great performances from the two lead characters. |

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (AVP 2) (2007, R)
Well this is much better than I expected. After the rather disappointing first AVP this has a lot more action in it. It reminded me a lot of the Aliens film in the second half of the movie and some scenes were very similar whether that was deliberate or not is hard to say. It's good to see continuation from the earlier Predator and Alien films as well in this, such as the weapons and behaviour seen in those films help link it to both franchises. Overall a good action/horror that is better than the first by a long way. Oh for those complaining the film is too dark, adjust the brightness! |

| 252 |
Never Back Down (2008, PG-13)
Yes this does kinda add up to The Karate Kid for the Youtube generation, with an MTV makeover. This time using MMA basically like UFC, cage fighting using any fighting style. Despite the obvious plot and seeing this type of film more than a few times, this is pretty decent. It has a strong cast and the fight scenes are well shot. There is an extra on the DVD to get each of the fights in the film broken down into how they were filmed etc which is pretty good...all this and the beautiful Amber Heard! |
|
| 253 |
Hancock (2008, PG-13)
A cool blockbuster film with a good cast and great SFX but it just doesn't land a knockout punch for me. It all starts well enough with a funny take on of all the superhero films with a guy called Hancock who causes destruction whereever he goes and becomes hated for it. There are some great action scenes and very good SFX but the final third of the film has a twist and takes the film in a totally different direction to the rest of the film. Well worth seeing though! |

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008, PG-13)
I have finally seen it and have mixed feelings. It just doesn't have some of the old Indy magic. The story is even more far fetched than usual and maybe it's a bit overloaded with CGI as well. Cate Blanchett's character is a bit OTT almost to the point of feeling like a comic book character. Overall still an entertaining film but not up there with the first three. |
|
| 255 |
Iron Man (2008, PG-13)
Another comic based superhero action movie, seems to be an awful lot of them lately. This one definitely sits up there with some of the best of them so far! I would have liked a few more action scenes once he has created the suit to really show it off. However the action scenes you do get are great and with very good SFX. This is just a fun, enjoyable, cool action film well worth seeing. |

The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008, PG) |
|
| 261 |
The Dark Knight (2008, PG-13)
A very good film with an awful lot of hype, and just about lives up to it. This is how we want to see Batman, a much darker version than most of the comical offerings from years ago. This is intense crime/action/drama at it's best with some neat twists, great action scenes and wonderful acting talent on show. It's a little long but you barely notice as it progresses at a great pace with lots of great plot lines. See it as soon as you can! |
|
| 262 |
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2) (2008, PG-13)
A very good film with some great scenes, characters in it. The market scene with so much going on and so many different creatures to admire is really good. Despite the much bigger budget, clearly seen in the SFX alone, I'm not sure this has the same impact as the first which was more of a sleeper hit. Still it is a feast for the eyes, it has some cool fight scenes and plenty of humour to. More of the same from the first really. |
|
| 263 |
10,000 B.C. (2008, PG-13) |
|
| 264 |
Street Kings (2008, R)
A very good film with a strong cast. An interesting story involving shady goings on, bad cops, not so good cops. It is very entertaining and a good all round film. A more action packed film, but similar in some ways to the likes of Departed. Even Hugh Laurie makes an appearance as does the rapper The Game. Go see it! |
|
| 265 |
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior (2008, PG-13)
This straight to DVD prequel was never going to WOW anyone, but for the low budget it's ok. Can't say I recognize anyone in it and the SFX are far from stunning. However I thought it was fairly good, it has some good fight scenes and plenty of humour to. If you enjoyed the Mummy, Scorpion King films or any with a group setting off on a quest you will probably like this. |
|
| 266 |
Knowing (2009, PG-13)
A very enjoyable film and although a big budget film it doesn't overload you with SFX scenes. It's part action, disaster film but with a good solid story line to it. The action/disaster scenes are very intense and not seen on this scale before. Not everyone will enjoy the way it ends but overall a very good film worth seeing on the big screen. |
|
| 267 |
Wanted (2008, R)
A very enjoyable action film with some great SFX and a brill car chase. You really need to switch your brain off though as it is all very unbelievable. Some might see it as a Matrix wannabe, no bad thing, but it's not up to those levels. Still a good film and worth watching if you like cool, action films. |
|
| 268 |
Doomsday (2008, R)
A very good, violent, gory action film with an eclectic mix of ideas from 28 weeks later, Mad Max and the Escape from NY/L.A. films. The plot is a kinda mix of those three films as well. Not original by any means but it has plenty of action all right and some bloody battles along the way. From the same director as the Descent and Dog Soldiers! If you like any of the films mentioned you'll enjoy this. |
|
| 269 |
Terminator Salvation (2009, PG-13)
A very good addition to the series, better than the 3rd. Full of near non-stop action through out. A whole new range of terminators are on show and there are some great SFX/ action scenes. Some might not like the plot as it does differ from the first 3 where the action is pretty much one on one. This is very much a full on war. Go see it. |
|
| 270 |
The Replacement Killers (1998, R) |
|
| 271 |
Taken (2009, PG-13)
A very good nitty-gritty action/thriller. It packs a real punch not just for the great action scenes and fights but also for the storyline and good acting. I wasn't convinced at first at casting Liam Neeson in this type of role, but he plays the part of a doting father hell bent on revenge and getting his daughter back very well. |

Death Race (2008, R) |
|
| 273 |
Bullitt (1968, PG) |
|
| 274 |
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009, PG-13)
A very good sequel with even more bots and action on a bigger scale. Great SFX again and plenty of funny moments as well. Maybe a slightly less WOW factor second time round after the impact of the first. Very enjoyable and worth seeing on the big screen. |
|
| 275 |
Road House 2: Last Call (2006, R) |
|
| 276 |
Bangkok Dangerous (2008, R) |
|
| 277 |
Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle (2003, PG-13) |
|
| 278 |
Body of Lies (2008, R)
A very good film with solid performances from the lead actors. There have been a few films that deal with the issue of terrorists in the middle east recently. Along with The Kingdom this is the one of the best. It has a good balance of action and drama, without any long drawn out sequences or an over complicated plot. It delivers the message it is getting across in a very good way. |
|
| 279 |
Toy Soldiers (1991, R) |
|
| 280 |
Robocop 3 (1993, PG-13)
I finally got round to seeing this, knowing it wasn't going to be that good. I was surprised that quite a few cast members of the first two were still in it. Sadly no Paul Weller as Robocop and it shows! The story, acting, SFX all of it was pretty rubbish compared to the cult status of the first one. It's been dumbed down quite a bit too and not as violent as the first two either. One to avoid, maybe the remake of the first due next year will put things back on track. |
|
| 281 |
Until Death (2007, R) |
|
| 282 |
Street Fighter (1994, PG-13)
A very cheesey action film based on the Street Fighter 2 game. Totally over the top, close to being a comedy, one for fans of the game. Just a pity that such a massive global cult game only has this as a live action movie offering. Very disappointed at the lack of fighting in this. Only the last 20 mins make up for the rest of the film. |
|
| 283 |
Eagle Eye (2008, PG-13) |
|
| 284 |
Quantum of Solace (2008, PG-13)
A very good action film continuing right on from Casino Royale. Plenty of action, chases and explosions. Has a certain Bourne Trilogy feel to a lot of the stunts and fights. The Bond films now are more gritty, raw without the tongue in cheek humour of the past films. One for all out action entertainment but not the best story for a Bond film. |
|
| 285 |
The Punisher (2004, R)
Have to say this one slipped me by, had no idea this was made so recently and had the likes of John Travolta in it! A very good action film with plenty of shoot outs and stunts. It has a well assembled cast of recognizable faces. A basic tale of revenge but how he goes about it, is what makes the film good. |
|
| 286 |
Hollywood Homicide (2003, PG-13) |
|
| 287 |
Tau ming chong (Warlords) (2007, Unrated)
Another big battle epic set in China's past. Some of the battle scenes are very good and the acting is impressive but the overall story just wasn't that interesting to me. It just sets up one battle up after another really. Curse of the Golden flower was visually more impressive and has a better storyline to it. The two are very similar. |
|
| 288 |
The Spirit (2008, PG-13)
A pretty decent comic book romp in the same graphic style as Sin City. Unfortunately any similarities end there, despite a strong cast this fails to pack a punch. I didn't know anything about the comic book and you have to wait halfway through the film to get any idea of the characters background. I felt it could have been better. Maybe one more for fans of Frank Miller stories or comic books. Silly over the top fun action but nothing special. |
|
| 289 |
Beverly Hills Cop II (1987, R) |
|
| 290 |
Beverly Hills Cop III (1994, R)
The weakest in the series by quite a way. The first 2 were very good and I thought the second film was the best, just a bit slicker than the other two. It's a real shame that the Taggert character is not in this one. It starts with plenty of action but things get a bit silly and camp at the wonderworld theme park. Good to see Bronson Pinchot, Serge, back from the first film though. Hopefully next years 4th installment will have as many of the characters from the original as possible and a better story than this. |
|
| 291 |
Revolver (2005, R)
A great crime drama with a a good cast. For a change for a Guy Ritchie gangster film this isn't about East end gangsters in London and there is no humour in this. It makes a nice change and the story is very good. The plot gets a bit twisted and can be hard to follow at times. However it's one of the better gangster films I've seen in a long while. Slick and stylish with some great twists. |
|
| 292 |
Tropa de Elite (The Elite Squad) (2007, R)
A very good film, although I had hoped for something a little bit more after the trailer. It's more of an action/drama dealing with the drug trade in the slums of Rio in Brazil. It has a good story and is well made and shot with a fair share of brutal, violent action scenes. Almost feels like a documentary at times it has that raw feel about it. From the same director as the City of God. |
|
| 293 |
Starship Troopers 2 - Hero of the Federation (2004, R) |
|
| 294 |
Starship Troopers: Marauder (2008, Unrated)
A fairly decent 3rd installment better than the 2nd and not as good as the first. It has some of the cast of the original back and I think it was produced by Paul Verhoeven who directed the first. So you have the same over the top humour ads to sign up to the federation, lots of bugs, some gore, a group nude scene and big guns much like the first. Watch it if it's on TV and nothing else is on. |
