Actors: Daniel Day-Lewis
Based on performance in the movie alone, not just overall quality.
To me, D-Day isn't just an actor, he's a force. Anyone would kill to able to have performances as rich as Bill the Butcher in 'Gangs,' Daniel Plainview in 'There Will Be Blood,' or Christy Brown in 'My Left Foot,' but this guy's done all three. The way he transforms himself for a part blows my mind. Even if the movie itself isn't that great, he still manages to be the best part about it ('The Crucible'). D-Day's definitely the living example of "quality over quantity" and has solidified himself as one of the greatest actors of all-time. And this is coming from the guy who's only seen 5 of his movies.
