Sleeper (1973,  PG)
Sleeper
classic woody allen, very funny indeed, more physical stuff here, as he bumbles about in the future, great phisical jokes and many great one liners, a first of many.
2
The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976,  PG)
The Outlaw Josey Wales
along wth the good the bad and the ugly, best western ever made, aND really moody but very interesting, not a action western but certainly films like unforgiven got there edge from films like this, eastwood a great presence and directing talent
3
Good Night, And Good Luck (2005,  PG)
Good Night, And Good Luck
everything in this film is plot, no fillers well maybe a couple of scenes, but they comment on the situations of the time, so at a 90 mins dont be thinking thiw will be lightweight, very well informed, and nostalgic look at the 50s and its paranoia, and a great effort directing by clooney
4
Sling Blade (1997,  R)
Sling Blade
yes that is billy bob under there. another great performance from him, and written and directed by him also, great story of a simple man, a alternative version to forest gump you could argue
5
Dances With Wolves (1990,  PG-13)
Dances With Wolves
costner directs and stars and almost saved the western in the process, slow but nicely paced film, and great look at indian life, check the 4 hour directors cut, its better
6
Buffalo 66 (1998,  R)
Buffalo 66
after getting out of prison, billy(vincent gallo) travels back home to buffalo to see his parents, but to also kill local business man who once played football, and took money to miss a kick, in a game billy had money on, billy prerswades layla(christina rikki) to meet his parents and to show hes living a respectable life elsewhere, here they have a love hate relationship, whilst feelings develope, and wil billy carry out his shooting.
a great low budget indie effort written produced directed starring gallo, who is great in this, a great look very gritty, and comical in places, rikki is superb, as the wannabe girlfriend, and a great double act is on show here, there situations are fun to watch, and the way billy gets wound up with what layla does, great use of editing as well, and flashbacks, of his childhood back home, a great indie watch

Gone Baby Gone (2007,  R)
Gone Baby Gone
a fasinating look at boston and a case where a little girl goes missing, and the involvment of a private detective played by casey afleck, getting hired to find her, amounst the hysteria of media, and police, a confident and really good first directing efort from big brother ben afleck, showing, he may hve gone bad in his acting career, but has something special, when it comes to directing, boston natives, the aflecks have from what has been said captured the spirit of the city and its people, see also the exellent good wil hunting, the story is fasinating, and moves along nicely, moving on to the next piece in story, bringing in a new bit f story that adds freshness, some genuin, shocks along the way, and a last act and ending, which will bring up a interesting debate, as to wether this should be done, and certainly got me thinking, from the author of the similer mystic river, a well crafted film, with great acting all round, along with afleck, lets not forget, ed harris, who brings in another great supporting performance, looking forward to bens next efort, if he decides this is what he wants to do
8
Garden State (2004,  R)
Garden State
zach braffe directs this nice little indie effort, anxst and reaching 30, is it the end, into middle age, great music and great performances all round, especially portman, wish i knew girls like her
9
The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2006,  R)
The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada
directing debut from tommy lee jones, and a superb modern day western. when melquades estrada, is found dead in the dessert, his friend played by jones, doesent accept its a acident, and when its found out, it was a border patrol man played by barry pepper, he carries out his own justice, and along with pepper and the dead body of estrada, journeys back to a place he requested to be buried if he died, so a trip through texas and into mexico with the law in pursuit, is on, great film this, i love the structure, firstly showing the shooting from diferent viewpoints, and cutting back and fourth to peoples lives before the shooting, showing estrada life and also the patrol mans, whichb also brings up many events that afect both men, a great look showing texas in its element, jones who works well as a cowboy, even though its modern day, it could just as easily be the old west, pepper does another great perforrmnaces, hes very underated. all in all a great film about redemption.
10
A Bronx Tale (1993,  R)
