Apocalypto (2006, R)
This is a very good movie. The story was believable and there was no boring parts in this film. As far the gore is concerned I think they used the right amount considering that this movie is set in a civilization where human sacrifice was a daily occurrence. The lead character in this film was very good. |

Rescue Dawn (2007, PG-13)
Christian Bale is such a versatile actor and this film is just another example of that. He gives a very good performance! I liked the way this movie was shot, because some scenes were actual footage from the war. Other scenes were shot like a documentary. This film is gritty and raw, this is real life not a Hollywood version of a prisoner of war camp. Steve Zahn was also very good in this film, he is more than just a funny guy. The story albeit true is quite interesting and you find yourself pulling for Bales' character to get out alive. |

The Last Legion (2007, PG-13)
This movie was okay. It starts out as a very serious film but then half way through the try to inject some humour. It was confusing going about it that way, I didn't know if I should laugh. They should have gone for an R rating with this movie. Blood, guts, and nudity. At least this movie didn't suck. |

The World's Fastest Indian (2005, PG-13)
This movie was very enjoyable. I loved the cinematography in this movie. The movie is very colourful and the colours are very bright, they pop. Anthony Hopkins was brilliant in this film, Burt Munro is such a different character from Dr Lector. Burt's trip from New Zealand to the salt flats is quite interesting. This would be a good movie for the whole family to watch. |

Australia (2008, PG-13)
This movie was shot with the intent of making it look like an old 1950's romance/adventure movie. Do not expect a serious film like "Atonement" because you will be disappointed. Now having said that, this is a wonderful film! The cinematography in this film is beautiful and breath taking at times. The story line if very inetresting and engrossing. This movie is 2 hours and 45 minutes long but it does not drag at anytime. Nicole Kidman was brilliant in this film, you get to see her character transform over the duration of the film. Hugh Jackman was quite good in this as well, and all you ladies will be interested to know that there are plenty of scenes where Hugh is shirtless. The supporting cast for this movie was a whos whos of Australian actors, they did a magnificant job. This movie is definitely worth going to see in the theatre. Oh and take some kleenex as well because there are some scenes that will tug at your heart strings. |

Defiance (2009, R)
This film is based on a very interesting story, I was quite impressed. They put together a really good cast for this film. Daniel Craig was very good as the leader of the community and I thought that his accent was authentic. Liev Schreiber was very good in this as well. There is a good mix of action and story line here. At no point does the movie drag, it has a good pace to it. I really liked this movie, it is definitely worth seeing. |

Seabiscuit (2003, PG-13)
I really enjoyed this film and wished that I had seen it in the theatre. I had never known the facts about Seabiscuit's story just the legend about the horse. This is a very interesting story. In the film we get to know each character/person because the film takes time to show us their vulnerable sides as well as their strong sides. A film is much more engrossing when you feel a connection with the characters, as far as I think. Tobey Maguire, Jeff Bridges, and Chris Cooper all share the load of carrying the film, and each one of them did a fantastic job. There is also a very good supporting cast in this film. |

Mongol (2008, R)
This movie was very good! The cinematography is breath taking and beautiful at times. The story of Genghis Khan's early days is quite interesting. The only reason this movie was as good as it was is because of the actors who played Genghis Khan and his wife. Honourable mention has to go to the two child actors who played Genghis Khan and his wife, they were extremely good. The supporting cast for this film did an outstanding job as well. |

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008, PG-13)
I was pleased to see that there was a good story line for this movie. I was worried that Spielberg was going to phone this one in, but thank God he didn't. I really liked Shia LaBeouf in this, his character had some very funny lines. Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett were very good but that was to be expected. There is a good supporting cast in this film as well. Overall I enjoyed this film the story line kept interested all the way through. |

The Forbidden Kingdom (2008, PG-13)
This movie was thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable. This movie is more than just a kung-fu fantasy. There is a very good story line here. The character development was excellent and the group of heros are very likable. Jet Li was good in this movie but it was Jackie Chan who carried this movie. Jackie Chan was fantastic in this movie and wouldn't have been the same without him in it. The actress who played Sparrow was very good too. This would be a good movie for the family agea 13 and up. |

Outlander (2009, R)
I really loved the story line of this movie and thought they might have a hard time pulling off the different civilizations but they didn't. This movie was quite enjoyable and intriguing. The CGI was amazing, which is good because if the CGI is bad then the movie is never believable. James Caviezel was very good in this but then again he is usually good in whatever he does. There was a very good supporting cast in this movie. I think the supporting cast is paramount to making a good film. It was good to see John Hurt in this, he is such a splendid actor. I though that Sophia Myles was quite good in her role. The action or rather battle scenes in this movie are very well done and really added to the film. If you like quasi historical films then see this it is worth a watch. |

Inglourious Basterds (2009, R)
This movie was very entertaining and I liked the stroy line. The scenes of violence are very graphic but there was not as much violence in this movie as I was expecting. They put together a great cast for this film. I thought that Til Schweiger was amazing in this film. This was a good movie but it is not for the faint of heart. |
