As it says on its Flixster page, it is "a truly perfect movie". Also, Pearl Harbour tries to rip it off.

The only Coen brothers film i've seen that doesn't read like propaganda for the police. Also a great comedy. John Goodman is really good in it

A modern classic with well-crafted characters, American Beauty asks questions with no clear answers about beauty, humanity and how they suffer at the hands of the american dream.

not an easy watch but it is a good movie; an alternate look at violence which is glorified in most westerns.

I love it. Most movies are lucky to have one really memorable performance: this has 8. Awesome style. Caustic and hilarious and beautiful and subtle and blatant and romantic and disgusting... it's a wild ride. Great soundtrack is the icing on the cake.

I took it as a study in how narcissistic people are, how dishonest to themselves and others when it suits them, and how everyone thinks they're the good guy.

"In nine years of marriage i have only had two or three little affairs".

"She left a message on my machine about a month ago telling me to watch The Grand Illusion on TV. and i didn't even call her back... because i didn't want to lead her on, you know".

"I tried to run them both over with my car..."
"You honestly believe that i tried to run her over? Whose side are you on?"

"It's an honest portrayal of our relationship..."

"She's 17, she's just a kid..."
"18's not that young..."
