I would like to start off by commenting on how much this movie surprised me I think that Spielberg has a big hit on his hands I suspect within the next few years, everybody will be copying the style of this film. It will be interesting to see how Spielberg chooses to shoot his next movie.

After the death of his wife in a freak accident, Reverend Graham Hess questions his faith and even leaves the church. Six months later, he discovers a gigantic crop circle in his yard. Similar events happen all over the world. Graham's children think it's aliens, his brother thinks it's pranksters, and Graham doesn't know what to think. However, as more and more strange events occur, he realizes something big is coming, and it's probably not going to be friendly. (on my list of ending's you never see coming )

Independence Day (1996,  PG-13)
Independence Day 4.5 Stars
I enjoyed this movie, sure it isn't the most original movie ever made or the best, but it was what it set out to be...which is a combo alien attack movie of the 50's plus an all-star disaster movie of the 70's. A lot of critics don't like this one and a lot of people who think of themselves as critics don't care much for it either, but it still brought in over 300 million at the box office in the summer of 96. I thought it was an entertaining film with lots of action and a good dose of comedy as well.

Plot Outline: The aliens are coming and their goal is to invade and destroy. Fighting superior technology, Man's best weapon is the will to survive.

Men in Black (1997,  PG-13)
Men in Black 4.0 Stars
this is one of the best sci-fi comedies ever made, next to the classic Ghostbusters and the highly underrated Evolution. This movie has action, comedy, and some of the best special effects in the last ten years.A few death scenes will be too gruesome for kiddies, but once they're a certain age its bound to be one of their favourite movies. Such terrific imaginative fun.

Plot Outline: Two men who keep an eye on aliens in New York City must try to save the world after the aliens threaten to blow it up.

Men in Black II (2002,  PG-13)
Men in Black II 4.0 Stars
the story can be stupid at times, but so was the first one, and the good qualities listed above far outweigh that negative. Tommy Lee Jones is fun to watch again and Will Smith isn't as arrogant as he was in the first movie.
This is a no-brainer played strictly for laughs and it succeeds beautifully in that regard.

SPOILERS Aliens exist.

Plot Outline: Agent J (Will Smith) needs help so he is sent to find Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) and restore his memory.

The War of the Worlds (1953,  G)
The War of the Worlds 3.0 Stars
HG Wells' futuristic novel responds well to the Technicolor splashed on it in this 50s B classic. Gene Barry over emotes in the lead now and then but the martian invasion is handled very well and the tension rises to the final scenes where the surviving populace huddle in the church as the buildings crash and burn around them.'War of the Worlds' deserves its place as both a highly regarded novel and a well-remembered movie. i think the new one it a bit bater .

Won Oscar.Best Effects, Special Effects Gordon Jennings

Plot Outline: The film adaptation of the H.G.Wells story told on radio of the invasion of Earth by Martians.

Mars Attacks! (1996,  PG-13)
Mars Attacks! 4.0 Stars
When I first saw this in the theater with my bro. we both found to be pretty lame and disappointing, but not without some wit to it. Since then, it's been on the cable channels multiple times, and I always find myself watching it again. I really hate to admit it, but this thing has really grown on me - so much so that I finally bought the DVD.

Plot Outline: The Earth is invaded by Martians with irresistible weapons and a cruel sense of humor.

The Thing (1982,  R)
The Thing 3.0 Stars
Remake of the classic 1951 "The Thing From Another World". The 1951 film had the thing just be a big, super human monster. That movie was scary. This one is too--but the story is different (and based more closely on the source material--the novelette "Who Goes There?") and it's scary in a different way. When this was released Universal sent a note along with all prints of the film. They suggested to theatre owners that they play the film in an auditorium near the rest rooms. They were afraid that people would be so sickened by the violence that they'd have to be close to a facility to throw up!

Plot Outline: Scientists in the Antarctic are confronted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of the people that it kills.
