as any anime film made by studio ghibli, this film is a pearl and is excellent. it's cute and there's always a good life lesson to learn from. don't miss it, especially if you enjoyed spirited away or my neighbor totoro!
it's very different from the other ghibli studio's films i have seen before as it is way more realistic and doesn't look like an anime. the story is very tragic and you know it can't have a happy ending. the relationship between seita and setsuko is so powerful and moving, you can't not weep after seeing this.
Another super cute Miyazaki anime. I enjoyed it a lot although it does not beat Spirited Away or My Neighbor Totoro. A great piece to add to your collection though.
i'm starting to discover the magnificent world of anime movies (this is only the second one i see) and i must say, i totally love the experience and i'm lurking for more. i giggled, laughed, felt sad for mei when she disappeared... the storyline is very simple, yet very effective. and totoro is so cute, i wish i could cuddle him! it's adorable.
It's a wonderful anime film. It's not as cute as Hayao Miyazaki's movies and it's for a mature crowd but it's very enjoyable and visually stunning. You never know if what you are watching is a dream or reality, which reminds me a bit of the world of David Lynch. It's really worth it, watch it!
this is very different from the other movies of miyazaki that i saw, but i like it anyhow! it has an old american film-noir vibe to it as well as an italian note. it will make you feel young again, and smile throughout the story.
oh my, was it good! hayao miyazaki has truly achieved a masterpiece with this film. it's so cute, and sad, and dark at the same time. one of my new favorite film!
not a fantastic story like what we're used to from studio ghibli but still a wonderful piece giving us a view on a young girl's life and her love for writing. i thought it was moving and the song "concrete road" is awesome, whether it's in english or in japanese.
