so i'm not usually one for chick flicks but i don't mind a romantic epic now and again. and this was great. james mcavoy impressed me as did saoirse ronan and the dunkirk scene is amazing. i'm not ashamed to say...i cried! all's fair in love and war... |

There Will Be Blood (2007, R)
i've only delayed seeing this as i was out of the country. the finest actor of his generation doesn't work enough to suit me anymore. he gives another magnificent performance here as a maniacal oil tycoon. thx pt anderson for making the oscars a horse race this year. interesting score by jonny greenwood of radiohead too |

Speed Racer (2008, PG)
i find it hard to understand why this film is taking such a beating. sure, the story is predictable, the acting is adequate, but this film is all about the visuals! this is the best melding of live action and animation i've seen since sin city. i'm glad i took a chance and saw it on the big screen! i watched the cartoon as a kid and it was pretty mindless so give the wachowskis a break. i might give it 4 stars if they had dropped the annoying little brother. gangsters AND ninjas! u could do alot worse for summer popcorn entertainment :) |

dumb but fun fight club/matrix mashup. i liked all the cast and james mcavoy acquitted himself well as an action hero (!) the director has some style...and now i know what those anxiety attacks are all about! ;) |

superhero noir! the most entertaining comic book based film i've seen and just what i was expecting from chris nolan. the joker is my new hero! chaos rules!!!!!!!!! especially in IMAX :D |

of course there are mor films ue to be released.i wasn't pleased with mr Jones and Iron Man is god but safe as a picture..as far as Atonement and There Will Be,well,upper class ;) mostly the second one.oh,i believe these were 2007 though ;)
