Godzilla vs. Mothra (Mosura tai Gojira) (1964,  Unrated)
Godzilla vs. Mothra (Mosura tai Gojira) 4.5 Stars
One of the best Godzilla-Thrillas ever! Great directing by Honda, superb effects by Tsuburaya, good acting including a well dubbed American version, lots of monster mayhem and great battle sequences between Mothra, her larvae and the Big G make this a top-notch classic monster match-up. And a well made entry in the Godzilla film series that's a good bet for classic monster fans.

This movie was originally released in American theaters as Godzilla vs. The Thing by its U.S. distributer A.I.P.

Peter Jackson's epic remake shows real love and respect for the original. This is how remakes should be done. The effects, story and cast are all top notch.

Furankenshutain no kaijû: Sanda tai Gaira (The War of the Gargantuas) 4.5 Stars
One of Ishiro Honda's best made kaiju movies!

With well done fx work by Eiji Tsuburaya, a good cast of talented genre actors (including Russ Tamblyn), some thrilling action sequences and a really great score by Akira Ifukube. "The War of the Gargantuas" is absolutely one the very best horror/monster films to come out of Toho Studios in Japan during the 1960's. And highly fun & entertaining for genre fans.

20 Million Miles to Earth 4.5 Stars
One of the best monster-on-the-loose scifi thrillers from the 1950s highlighted by great stop-motion visual effects created by the fx master himself, Ray Harryhausen.

The film also features one of Harryhausen's coolest creations, an alien creature dubbed the Ymir from Venus. Plus a thrilling climax with the Ymir killing an elephant and rampaging throughout Rome. With a finale in which the creature battles it out against the military atop the ruins of the Roman collesium.

King Kong (1933) 5.0 Stars
One of the greatest classic monster movies of all-time!

And the granddaddy of all giant monster movies that unleashed one of the greatest monster movie icons of all-time on movie goers. Inspiring everyone from Peter Jackson (obviously) to Toho Studios who created Godzilla.

Great directing, a thrilling story and revolutionary effects work from stop-motion pioneer, Willis H. O'Brien make this truly one of the best monster movies ever made. The scenes on Skull Island are atmospheric and fun to watch as Kong battles the prehistoric beasts to protect his beauty, Ann.

To this day Kong battling bi-planes atop the Empire State Building is one of the most thrilling climaxes in film history. This is one of the most influential effects films ever made.
