Rose: Honey, sometimes when you go to sleep you go on a little walk. And sometimes you talk about a place- called Silent Hill Sharon: I don't remember. Rose: That's okay honey, that's why we're gonna go there. So you can remember.

Dahlia Gillespie: Why didn't she take me? Like the others? Rose: Because you're her mother. Mother is God in the eyes of a child.
Radha Mitchell: Rose Da Silva
Sean Bean: Christopher Da Silva
Laurie Holden: Cybil Bennett
Deborah Kara Unger: Dahlia Gillespie
Kim Coates: Officer Thomas Gucci
Tanya Allen: Anna
Alice Krige: Christabella
A woman goes in search for her daughter, within the confines of a strange, desolate town called Silent Hill. Based on the video game.
Big fan of the silent hill games so was generally excited and eager to see the film version.
Was slightly disappointed with the storyline especially the ending which to me did not feel like a conclusion(sequel please).
Did like the creatures and the way everything changed into the dark other-world. Sean Bean seemed disconnected from the story, which could of had him searching for his wife in the same reality as opposed to them in alternate worlds. Loved the pyramid head(where did he go?), the nurses in the corridor was very clever.
Also the haunting sounds and music is kept true to the games and that tune with the guitar is spine tingling.
Did quite enjoy the film overall, but still think the film is no where near as good as the games. Saying that this is the best video game adapt I've seen apart from the Resident Evil series.
Still...room for improvement if they do a sequel...
I can't wait to return to Silent Hill

Albert Wesker: [to Dr. Isaacs] Continue with your research, Doctor... while it is still YOUR research.
Milla Jovovich: Alice
Oded Fehr: Carlos Olivera
Ali Larter: Claire Redfield
Iain Glen: Dr. Isaacs
Survivors of the Raccoon City catastrophe travel across the Nevada desert, hoping to make it to Alaska. Alice joins the caravan and their fight against the evil Umbrella Corp.
The third installment, draws inspiration from a range of films like 6th Day and Matrix yet in one hand offers different aspects to the world of Resident Evil breathing life and some new ideas into the franchise, while on the other hand it is extremely unlike the resident evil we all know, it is at times more like the games than the first two. Examples: The world has ended more or less and the Zombies have taken over the surface is very unlike the games, but the film is full of things from the games, but used subtly enough so as not to shove it in your face. The whole trapped obstacle course at the beginning screams the games (while the set is different the whole designated area with deadly traps is very RE). The plot is driven forth by finding documents/notebooks again very RE and the Umbrella Lab looks brilliant, better than anything they designed in the games by far.
Now for the plot, it was very simple, but then the film would have suffered from a very detailed plot, what was more important were the characters which were far superior to the previous films, and I suspect it has to do with Russel being appointed Director. Easily Anderson's best writing for characters although it's punch scenes seem to be a little less grand than the other films (the laser corridor in re and the nemesis shootout with the STARS in Apocalypse) and the biggest disappointment was there were no monsters in the film apart from the staple Dogs and Zombies, the crows, while cool don't count and the Tyrant is only in it at the end. But that is more to do with budget than the script.
The acting was far better in this film, and for once the supporting characters were well enough done for you to care about them or even just get a sense that they are real people in a bad situation. Unlike RE:A in which the main characters were planks and the support characters basically were just warm props.
The action scenes were done excellently, although at the beginning there is a little of the shot too close cut too fast syndrome but that evens out in the later scenes. The gore was good, not over the top like some rubbish zombie film but not as mild as the other RE films.
The ending was a little off, and lacked the big WHAM that Anderson usually ends the RE films with, I think less would have been more for this films ending, when you see it you will know what I mean.Bring on the sequel and Wesker!

Gotta see this, hopefully they do the Flood and the Covenant well, Master Chief should be an interesting role for whoever plays him as you never see his face in the games...

A genetically made egghead assassin based on the computer game.
Timothy Olyphant looks the part, saw him in Die Hard 4.0 first and this looked like a good move by his agent (47) and is. (Bad joke i know!).
Action packed and a tense thrill ride. Lots of twists and clever assassin ploys, snipering and is so much like the game that it feels like your playing it.
Loved the scenes with the sword fight on the train and the other part where the kids are actually playing Hitman when he bursts through a window into their room.
Olga Kurylenko as the female lead does very well and her chemistry is above par with Timothy. Some awkward scenes but mostly great.
A very good film.

''Through their experiences on Earth, each spirit matures and grows. When the physical body dies, the mature spirit, enriched by its life on Earth, returns to Gaia, bringing with it the experiences, enabling Gaia to live and grow.''
A female scientist makes a last stand on Earth with the help of a ragtag team of soldiers against an invasion of alien phantoms.
Ming-Na: Dr. Aki Ross (voice)
Alec Baldwin: Capt. Gray Edwards
Spirits is nothing like the game and it makes me sad, very sad...
Slightly lacking in emotion and a little soulless.
Beautifully animated though and that's whats frustrating about it because it hasn't got the plot and heart to go with it, it's like watching a perfected Robot do a humans job.
Earth is a desolate wasteland in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within... Humanity has been decimated by an invasion of Phantoms, insubstantial aliens that extract and devour the spirits of living things.
The same problem i had with some of Animatrix and I think sometimes Japanese don't have humour or emotion enough in some of their anima stuff.
FF:Spirits is a disappointment having been a fan of the games forever.

''The last thoughts of Geostigma's death...those remnants will join the lifestream and girdle the planet; choking it; corroding it. What I want, Cloud, is to sail the cosmos with this planet as my vessel. Just as Mother did long ago. then one day we'll find a new planet and on it's soil we'll create a shining future.''
An ex-mercenary is forced out of isolation when three mysterious men kidnap and brainwash the city's children afflicted with the Geostigma disease.
Takahiro Sakurai: Cloud Strife Ayumi Ito: Tifa Lockhart
Advent Children is the worst adaptation of all of my fave game FF VII, granted the animation is beautiful but it's like looking at a jumbled sequence of numbers that have no meaning in their randomness.
I must admit it started quite promising before sinking in there's that absence of emotion yet again as with the other FF film. Advent Children tells of events after what happens in the game FF VII. It's disappointing that they couldn't have just made a film of the game not one thats a follow up to it.
Granted Tifa i used to fancy like hell despite the fact she wasn't real, Aeris and the whole love triangle with Cloud always made me light and warm. Sephiroth is still one of the best villains I've seen in a game and the last boss battle with him in with it's choir like singing blows me away as does the weapon he dons in human form, captivating!
It's a shame because FF VII was one of the most emotionally ground breaking games of all time that changed and absorbed a year of my life. A whole world, each game so detailed and to convert that into a film may be impossible.
Certainly Advent Children proves this...

Luigi: It is an honor to meet you sir, and a pleasure, and I just wanna thank you for all your help. Mario: Come on, Luigi. You'll be talking to the mildew in the shower next.
Bob Hoskins: Mario Mario
John Leguizamo: Luigi Mario
Dennis Hopper: King Koopa
The Marios, Luigi & Mario, two plumbers rush to save a princess from Koopa. Based on the Video Game.
I think this movie gets more criticism than it deserves. It's honestly not THAT terrible.
I gotta say, when I was pretty young and saw it, it was quite a shock to see lush green plains replaced with a degenerate city unrivaled by even the worst areas of New York, and to see a slimy weird lizard where the happy-go-lucky Yoshi we all know and love would be, not to mention tiny walking mushrooms with mean faces replaced with some of the freakiest looking gargantuan humanoid monsters I've ever seen. Obviously, the movie has very little in common with the games in terms of appearance. However, the concept basically remains the same. Mario and Luigi set out to rescue the princess from Bowser/Koopa (who is also nothing like the giant monster he was in the games).
When I was young, my surprise overshadowed my understanding of the movie. Now that I'm older and have seen it again, I can better appreciate some of the good ideas it offered, and put aside comparisons with the games.
The story of origin is very interesting. I found the whole idea of dimensions split into a world of people evolved from apes and a set of people evolved from dinosaurs to be quite unique. Also, I liked the ideas of the evolution machine and the ubiquitous living fungus. Of course, for good ideas in movies to work, they must be delivered well. In a lot of ways, Super Mario Bros does not succeed in this.
The acting is actually pretty poor. Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper do an OK job, but John Leguiazamo and Samantha Mathis not so much. The bumbling Iggy and Spike deliver their lines much in the same way that people in high school plays do. You can't really take the actions of the actors very seriously, even at times when one is supposed to. The love subplot between Luigi and Daisy is done very poorly. If the director tried to make it seem less serious, it would have been OK, but he tries and fails to make the audience feel it is genuine. Also, some of the "humour" almost makes you cringe, and is pretty hackneyed.
These flaws aside, I still found this movie enjoyable if what ridiculous enough to watch all the way through.
