9/11 showed us what human beings are capable of. The evil, yeah, sure. But it also brought out a goodness we forgot could exist. People taking care of each other for no other reason than it was the right thing to do. Its important for us to talk about that good, to remember cause I saw a lot of it that day.

My review:

This was a day that nobody on this planet will ever forget. I watched this film at the cinema I almost cried not juts that it was a terrible terrorist attack but that it only happened 7 years ago. Enjoyed it more than United 93. Nicolas Cage was excellent in this film and so were Michael Pena, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Maria Bello. I cant believe this film wasn?t nominated for any Golden Globes of Academy Awards for acting and the writing. Now I realise how heartbroken the innocent families must have been feeling and how nervous they must have been that day. I went to New York City in October 2004, I was in tears of what damage it did that day. Also, there were flowers that were sent there every single day and a slate plank of all the list of people who perished that day. Looks better now though. It has a new underground terminal after the last one there was destroyed. From three-time Academy Award winner Oliver Stone comes this inspiring true story about courage, family and our nations unyielding spirit. Oscar winner Nicolas Cage and Michael Pena as John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno, two NYC Port Authority policemen who were trapped in the rubble of September 11, 2001 during a rescue attempt. As McLoughlin and Jimeno bond together in a fight for survival and bravely struggle to keep hope alive, the events of an unimaginable day unfold through the eyes of two policemen, their loving wives and survivors and rescuers throughout the city.

I have to go right home. I know how to finish the script now. It ends with Kaufman driving home after his lunch with Amelia, thinking he knows how to finish the script. Shit, that's voice-over. McKee would not approve. How else can I show his thoughts? I don't know. Oh, who cares what McKee says? It feels right. Conclusive. I wonder who's gonna play me. Someone not too fat. I liked that Gerard Depardieu, but can he not do the accent? Anyway, it's done. And that's something. So: "Kaufman drives off from his encounter with Amelia, filled for the first time with hope." I like this. This is good.

My review:

Nicolas Cage deserved his Oscar nomination as Charlie/Donald Kaufman. It is really clever how they get the same man playing two different people in the same scene. The film is very well written and the way it is told about the history of different sorts of flowers and also of how much flowers and plants have changed the world ever since 4 billion years ago when the world started. Chris Cooper deserved his Oscar for his role as John Larouche who lost his mother and uncle is a car crash, in the car that he was driving and his wife divorced him after she got out of her coma after the crash. That is what brought him and Susan together because her life was a mess with her husband who didnt really love her as his wife and her work life is going down the drain. It is also a heartbreaking love story aswell because Charlie has always loved Susan but he loves another woman he has been dating. He thought of Susan as his hero (or heroin). I think she was his hero because she was the one who can help bring his life together. It is a film that every man, woman and child has to watch.
