The Sugarland Express
Objectively speaking, this is among the best films Steven Spielberg ever made. It has an epic feeling to it, and adapting the intense tension used in Duel (1971), The Sugarland Express has a highly effective pace and enough character development for calling it a masterpiece and an unforgettable journey. A shocking account, this was almost among the best films of the 70's.

Jaws (1975,  PG)
Jaws
A terrifying classic. A sample of the greatest use of horror and suspense. Oh, and that music by John Williams :)! Thanks Spielberg for making us be afraid of going to the sea again!

Spielberg scores once again. Great direction and storytelling. Unforgetable last 20 minutes... Pure genius and amazement.

1941 (1979,  PG)
1941
Let's get something straight. For those who actually prefer ANY Spielberg film of the last decade over the histerical and great lunacy ride that 1941 represents, you should have a different perspective. After watching the prolonged director's cut, I came to the conclusion that most of the hatred towards this film came from the constant screaming, the nonsense plot, and the fact that audiences by that time could not understand that it was meant to be a spoof, not to mention that people who had lived during the Pearl Harbor attacked may have felt seriously offended. Few times had so much originality and a HILARIOUS, masterful Toshirô Mifune caused so much crazy effectiveness. It should be interpreted as a spoof... When had you seen a director spoofing himself through references of his past films? So, this is the first sign of Spielberg resorting to a massive budget, a characteristic that most of his modern films share, but a parody of such calibre and breathtaking moments of stupidity has not been released yet for a long time. Among Spielberg's most underrated films.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) (1981,  PG)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark)
A classic hero in a classic, timeless film. Among Spielberg's most memorable epics. Yes, it shares a strong resemblance with past, memorable giants of the genre, making it an adventurous tribute, but it truly is one of the director's best masterpieces, an iconic character for new demanding masses and an unforgettable action ride.

E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial (1982,  PG)
E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial
Another charming and unforgettable Spielberg's classic! A family icon for all human kind to see, and a gem that permanently marked not only the Hollywood cinema of the 80's, but the hearts of millions as well.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984,  PG)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
The worst in the trilogy. The darkest chapter in the series, but one of the most entertaining and heroic. It was OK.

The Color Purple (1985,  PG-13)
The Color Purple
The first worthwile epic drama of Steven Spielberg does not disappoint. An amazing, early cast and the proper emphasis towards moral issues and racism within racism, with Spielberg resorting to a character development and a divine conclusion. Spielberg, however, starts to fall.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989,  PG-13)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
The best chapter in the trilogy. The plot is absolutely amazing and both Harrison Ford and Sean COnnery give away fantastic performances. One of the best and most effective feel-good adventure films out there.

Hook (1991,  PG)
Hook
Just when I thought Spielberg couldn't make a film worse than The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), he does. This is the kind of films you usually find being screened on a bus. The magical touch of Spielberg has been lost and ridiculed in a shameful way. A famous cast having laughter and fun during production wasn't supposed to promise a satisfying result, now was it?

Hollywood strikes again as it normally does. Doesn't lack the entertainment factor, but it is not a masterpiece either.

Cruel and slow, human and non-inspiring story set on very difficult and racist times. Pretentious Spielberg flick.

A touching and visually stunning Spielberg homage for our fellow giant Stanley Kubrick. Barely quality sci-fi.

Smart and well thought up film. Spielberg scores again from another angle.

The Terminal (2004,  PG-13)
The Terminal
A dumb, clichéd, simple plot, with boring performances and a brainless script. Let's say Spielberg took a brake after too many financially successful films. He lost it again.

War of the Worlds (2005,  PG-13)
War of the Worlds
Spielberg strikes back at his most intense and explosive. The film is avoidable and the Tom Criuse we see here is somewhere near the worst ever. He's a completely Spielberg character. Forgettable film approaching to the blasphemous realm of Michael Bay.

Munich (2005,  R)
Munich
Great Spielberg modern masterpiece. Although the film focuses specifically on the acts of the Mossad agents hired to track down and exterminate the Palestinian terrorist group (Black September) responsible for the kidnapping of eleven Israeli athletes during the 1972 Olympoc Games held in Munich, the execution and pace of the film works pretty fine. The direction is as good as we have always seen from this great director and the performances are very decent.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008,  PG-13)
