Sicko
An eye-opening condemnation of the American healthcare system, even to the seasoned cynic. In typical Michael Moore fashion, he presents a scattershot approach to making his case and occasionally drifts outside his main focus, but the case studies he presents are sobering (and sickening.) The problem is not only for the 50 million Americans without healthcare, it's also for the 200 million WITH healthcare who are denied their claims for livelihood-crippling costs that other countries offer as readily and freely (paid for through taxes) as their mail system and public education. A trip to Cuba with 9/11 workers denied health benefits exemplifies how screwed up the system has become here, where medicine is provided only for profit and no trace of compassion. Some excellent observations and suggestions are presented, and bitingly choice songs for the soundtrack, making this the best and most persuasive Michael Moore feature.
