No, Willow totally did not suck lol. Hell, as a kid it was one of my best times at the movies. Probably seen it like 3 times.
Willow is one of the best fantasy films of the 80's. It was ripped apart from critics who expected more from George Lucas and Ron Howard.
I can see why people would be disapointed by StarWars Episode 1. It was slow with too much bad dialogue. Willow at least delivers a great fantasy that's always entertaining. I was never bored watching it, which I can't say about Episode 1. So in no way is Willow a let down. It's also one of Val Kilmer's most memorable performances.
The Spiderwick Chronichles is one of the better movies based on a fantasy book series. It's about a boy who moves into a house with his mom and his twin brother and sister. The lives of him and his family change as soon as he finds a mysterious book. It holds all the secrets of an alternate world that goblins want to get their hands on.
The movie is magical and even a little bit touching "Don't listen to the guy here who that gave it *1/2 lol." With the voice acting and the rest of the cast being so good I wouldn't even mind more. I just don't understand if tomatoe sauce kills goblins, does that mean they could kill them by just throwing tomatoes at them too ? lol.
It's 3 books in one and it's not entirely like the books. Jim Carrey would've been good if he wasn't so over the top as well. Still this is a fun movie that's well made with good performances by the kids.
Too bad there won't be more evernthough I don't care much anymore since the last book basically killed the series anyway. It didn't answer any of the questions that the other books raised. That's ok because by itself this movie works and doesn't need sequels.
I can watch this one without ever getting tired of it. It has a smart story without everything centered around Harry and Lord Voldermortt and I think that's why I like it so much.
It's magical and goofy and it has it's dark moments as well. It cuts some out from the books but at least it makes time for a Quiditch scene. Quiditch is important to Harry in the books and in the movies since this he hasn't mentioned it once.
There's no Voldermort like I said but the movie still packs a punch. It has werewolves, time travel and creepy cloaked figures called Dementors. It also has some good twists. So I can careless that Harry, Ron and Hermione are dressed casual in the movie. That bugged some fans but to me it' doesn't hold it back from being an entertaining Potter movie.
It will be interesting to see a live action version with good effects that's a little more like the book. This version is decent though even if it is a little outdated.
This is a good movie with nice special effects and fine acting. It's just the script that needed some work. I mean just when I got into the story and wanted more....it was over.
It might've been smarter if they just completed the story with one movie. I mean it might not have made enough money for sequels.
Narnia is about 4 siblings who discover a hidden world. There, the magical creatures need their help against an evil witch and her followers.
I found the kids a little annoying in this one with the exception of the girl that plays the youngest Lucy. She's the best of the bunch in this one and the 2nd one. All of them improved in the 2nd one though. Here though, the movie is owned by Tilda Swinton as the White Witch. She's perfectly casted and perfectly evil here. I also didn't think that the movie was a bad adaption of the book.
It has pirates and un-dead pirates, so yeah I suppose it's good for Halloween.
I like this movie a lot although I don't see it as being as special as most women do lol. It's entertaining and a better pirate movie than critics give it credit for.
It's better to watch a little of this at a time since it's incredibly long. However it's a well made and original telling of the Jack and the Beanstalk story.
This movie is fun and original movie that pokes fun at Disney like fairytales. The voice performances are great as well. Especially the work of Eddie Murphy and the under-rated John Lithgow.
Being John Malkovich is a truly original and totally odd film. It's about a failed puppeteer (John Cusack) who discovers a portel into John Malkovich. There he learns that he can actually control him and live his life as him.
Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) enlists Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) to get close to Professor Slughorn, the new Potions teacher. He believes that he has an important memory of Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort and wants Harry to get it. A used potions book of someone named the Half Blood Prince helps Harry to impress Slughorn and get closer to him. But who's the Half Blood Prince ?
While Hermione starts to show her true feelings for Ron when he starts dating someone. But he's too clueless to realize she's jealous. He also joins the Quiditch team, but he isn't as bad as he is in the book, but with some help from Harry and Hermione. Harry's last year of Quiditch isn't made into that much of a big deal in the movie as well. But what was done well in the movie is how Draco has a mission from the Dark Lord that Snape (Alan Rickman) has promised to help him with. Harry knows Draco is up to something which leads him into more than one confrontation with him.
I loved the first half of the movie but once it got towards the end, it felt a bit rushed. The Deatheater's battle with Hogwart students from the book was left out when I was looking forward to it. While Bill Weasley I think was totally cut out of the movies. The drama between Persey and his family was also left out. I think the movies would have been stronger if didn't leave out such things though.I liked how the Weaseley mom didn't like Bill's future wife in the book, which led to a good moment in the end. Here, all that was totally left out.
I liked a lot about the movie though. I originally said that the Harry and Ginny scenes could have been better. Now that I think about it, I loved the scene where Ginny runs to help Harry in a fight with Deatheaters. The flashbacks of Voldermort as a child were also good. While the director David Yates is good at handling the dark side of the story as well as the humor and magic. He's one of the better Potter directors even if he does cut out some things. A lot of people want Chris Columbus back for the last film but he's lucky if he's hired to do a made for dvd Home Alone sequel after doing (I Love You Beth Cooper). David Yates is fine, it's the scripts that just need a little bit more development, other than that he does a good job.
