Hero (2002, PG-13)
EXCELLENT! Continuing on with my new found Martial arts madness this was MUCH better than The one. This is the stuff I like.In China with the history and great storyline behind it.But This is something VERY SPECIAL you guys. The sound and special effects in this are beyond your imagination. You need to see this on a big screen with an excellent home theater system to get the great sound effects.Oh God,and the colors, they thought of everything with this movie.I HIGHLY ,HIGHLY recommend this!!!Jet Li,I am falling for this guy more and more with every movie.I cannot say anything more about it,you seriously have to experience this one for yourself.SEE IT VERY SOON! |

The Illusionist (2006, PG-13)
Great film!I knew it was going to be,I had heard alot about it,I guess I was expecting there to be a little more magic in it.I think that's another thing is I kept trying to compare it to The Prestige and should not have been doing that. All in all though Edward Norton is awesome in this as well kudos to Jessica Biel and Paul Giamatti, which I will just add right here that I really didn't know what decision he would make since he seemed so farup the Prince's ass.He did the right thing =).Anyway see it if you haven't already,Oh and great twist ending.=) |

Atonement (2007, R)
Amazing! At first I thought it was a little slow, and was wondering just exactly what was going on.But once I got into it and followed it,the story sucks you in,Wow shows what can happen when a person carries a deep dark secret their whole life,Definitely Oscar caliber performances ,great cast excellent storyline. You don't want to miss this one! =) |

Apocalypse Now (1979, R)
Nothing short of Amazing.I felt I owed this to my Dad who was in the Marine Corps. He was a Gunnery Sargent forever. He served in Both Korea and the Vietnam wars.He is still alive and ticking and got all his wits about him. After seeing as many war movies as I have I don't see how this man is still as intact as he seems.Anyway He is my hero always will be PERIOD.This movie was spine chilling.I loved it from minute one.Gosh the cast was not only stellar, but dam they were so young.I just don't know what else to say but dam if you haven't seen this one yet you owe it to yourself to do so.It really is something very special. |

since youre a fan of cinematography you should check out more of roger deakins work. i think you only have one of his films on here. i also think the cinematography in batman begins was genius. im glad to see you have road to perdition on here, its my favorite cinematography work, but youre missing citizen kane which has some of the best cinematography work in film history.

oo awesome list.

One film by Ballhaus seems a little skimpy, Vilmos Zsigmond and Robert Surtees need to be in there somewhere. More Vittorio Storaro.

Not a bad list. There's a few films on here I hated, but most are 100% respectable. I know I'll sound like an arrogant obsessive indie kid, but I think Garden State should have gotten more hype for its fantastic visuals. Of course it wasn't necessarily cinematography as much as good locations and set design.
