Hero (2004,  PG-13)
Hero
EXCELLENT! Continuing on with my new found Martial arts madness this was MUCH better than The one. This is the stuff I like.In China with the history and great storyline behind it.But This is something VERY SPECIAL you guys. The sound and special effects in this are beyond your imagination. You need to see this on a big screen with an excellent home theater system to get the great sound effects.Oh God,and the colors, they thought of everything with this movie.I HIGHLY ,HIGHLY recommend this!!!Jet Li,I am falling for this guy more and more with every movie.I cannot say anything more about it,you seriously have to experience this one for yourself.SEE IT VERY SOON!

The Illusionist (2006,  PG-13)
The Illusionist
Great film!I knew it was going to be,I had heard alot about it,I guess I was expecting there to be a little more magic in it.I think that's another thing is I kept trying to compare it to The Prestige and should not have been doing that. All in all though Edward Norton is awesome in this as well kudos to Jessica Biel and Paul Giamatti, which I will just add right here that I really didn't know what decision he would make since he seemed so farup the Prince's ass.He did the right thing =).Anyway see it if you haven't already,Oh and great twist ending.=)
46
The Prestige (2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
I have not seen a movie that has captivated me like this in a long time.An outstanding cast, twisting plot, betrayal of friends and lovers backstabbing everything that makes a great American movie. This is a MUST SEE!!! A++++++

Atonement (2007,  R)
Atonement
Amazing! At first I thought it was a little slow, and was wondering just exactly what was going on.But once I got into it and followed it,the story sucks you in,Wow shows what can happen when a person carries a deep dark secret their whole life,Definitely Oscar caliber performances ,great cast excellent storyline. You don't want to miss this one! =)

Apocalypse Now (1979,  R)
Apocalypse Now
Nothing short of Amazing.I felt I owed this to my Dad who was in the Marine Corps. He was a Gunnery Sargent forever. He served in Both Korea and the Vietnam wars.He is still alive and ticking and got all his wits about him. After seeing as many war movies as I have I don't see how this man is still as intact as he seems.Anyway He is my hero always will be PERIOD.This movie was spine chilling.I loved it from minute one.Gosh the cast was not only stellar, but dam they were so young.I just don't know what else to say but dam if you haven't seen this one yet you owe it to yourself to do so.It really is something very special.

Empire of the Sun (1987,  PG)
Empire of the Sun
Another amazing movie I have let slip by for way too long.I have been on this whole Christiian Bale thing lately,so I wanted to see how his acting skills were when he was a boy.OMG! He was BORN to act. This boy is absolutely brilliant in anything he does. This is an amazing journey of a young boy, separated from his parents in the middle of WWII and forced to survive basically however he can.I had no idea that he would bump into of all people John Malkovich one of my fav actors that was a huge bonus!Oh,and a very young, and not in comedic role,Ben Stiller. The cast was Great,Christian again,Wow he is just mindblowing,he is really a natural,I hope he goes oin making lots of movies for us to enjoy for many years. If you have not seen this movie I highly recommend it! =)

The Constant Gardener (2005,  R)
The Constant Gardener
Wow,I am flying in fine idiot form this week.Ok,I have absolutely no clue whatsoever why I thought this was a Love story,Like a turbo love story like The Notebook you know?Yeah it's not like that in any way, shape or form.I have no idea where that came from. This was still good,I just had to switch gears about 3/4 of the way through when I figured out that no matter what it was not going to suddenly turn into The Notebook.I do recommend this however for the eye opening look at what the pharmaceutical companies are capable of.Really scary stuff.Anyway its all tied up real nicely with lies, deciet, adultry, politics, everything that makes for a great movie.Check it out! =)

Away from Her
Heart wrenching and beautiful,Wow this man had a fierce love for his wife, any woman should be so lucky,I was there spot on with every aspect of this film UNTIL,the adultery although I can understand the loneliness the 2 (other) partners must have been feeling I just was hoping that wouldn't happen.Anyway other than that this was simply brilliant, loved the story I loved Their love and great ,great acting.Highly recommended.=)
55
The Painted Veil (2006,  PG-13)
The Painted Veil
Awesome movie, sad at times but Ed Norton and Naomi Watts were a great casting choice,I wish we could have seen a little more of Liev Schreiber in this but that's ok I guess.Great love story here, not the ending I was expecting at all.Definetely worth a watch!!
56
House of Flying Daggers (Shi mian mai fu) (2004,  PG-13)
House of Flying Daggers (Shi mian mai fu)
Wow!! What a visual stunner! This was my homework assignment from my Flix Movie buddy and I am so glad I watched it,even though I already got an 'F' for the week =(.Anyway although I don't think it's quite as good as Hero, this was a beautiful movie it's got all the elements that the good movies are made of,Love deception, loss, oh yeah and daggers lol.Great great movie,If you have not seen this movie and have an appreciation for the 'older' tradition martial arts movies you will love this one!! =)

since youre a fan of cinematography you should check out more of roger deakins work. i think you only have one of his films on here. i also think the cinematography in batman begins was genius. im glad to see you have road to perdition on here, its my favorite cinematography work, but youre missing citizen kane which has some of the best cinematography work in film history.

One film by Ballhaus seems a little skimpy, Vilmos Zsigmond and Robert Surtees need to be in there somewhere. More Vittorio Storaro.

Not a bad list. There's a few films on here I hated, but most are 100% respectable. I know I'll sound like an arrogant obsessive indie kid, but I think Garden State should have gotten more hype for its fantastic visuals. Of course it wasn't necessarily cinematography as much as good locations and set design.
