This high tension, mysterious, haunting and even erotic Japanese movie from 1964 is in my book the most perfect movie ever made. The imagery is utterly beautiful and captivating. It is a reflection on Zen philosophy that makes U wonder about the meaning of life. People who like reading Sartre, Camus or Kafka will adore this.
Classic stuff, my favorite Kubrick. Based on Nabokov's controversial novel, Lolita is a meditation on desire, youth and sexual obsession spiced up with some black humor. Peter Sellers excels playing different characters. 45 years after it's release Lolita still stands as one of the most wonderful English spoken films ever produced.
