Best of 2003

Pure style over substance, but there's no denying Quentin does style well. It's also such a comedy, I don't know if Quentin is just fucking with casual movie-goers or what, but there are so many little gags and references hidden away in this film. It's a boarder-line spoof.

Energetic, messed up, original, it's all good.

Cheesy and very flawed, but Jim (as usual) makes it very, very funny.

I fail to understand why the X-Men films are so popular. They're good fun, but little else. I suppose if you're a huge fan of the franchise, it probably helps, but I never really found the X-Men mythos particularly interesting.
I also in many ways preferred the first film to this. It was focused on a smaller selection of characters and as such felt less all-over-the-place. The plot was also much tighter.
The casting is pretty good, and the plot, etc is all good for a fun film, but there's really very little beyond a popcorn flick in this movie.

Brainless action, but among the best mindless action movies out there. It's not smart or anything, but it's not really trying to be.

It's just not funny, I coudn't stand the over-hype it got. I need to re-watch it though, I'll probably like it alot more if I see it again.

I get that it's a parody/homage to the lame-o cheesey sex/romance comedies of the 60s, that doesn't make it good. It's not really funny enough both on it's own terms or as a parody to justify it's own existence, and the plot whilst extremely twisty-turny, isn't anything particularly special. All in all, it's just another of those lame rom-coms, but to be honest it's probably a tad above average for it's genre.

Fucking stupid. Honestly, what the hell were they thinking. It's very watchable though, but seriously, one of the stupidest films ever.
