Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004, PG)
This movie is a great adaptation of the book, though it is cheesy at times. The director, Alfonso Cuaron, is spectacular. They left the backbones of the story intact, creating a great feeling of emotion and flow. By far the best of the series. The only part I hate is the Knight Bus and the shrunken head. It feels too cartoony. The cast is great in this movie: Alan Rickman as Snape, Gary Oldman as Sirius, Maggie Smith as McGonagall, and even Daniel Radcliffe is good in this movie. |

Hellboy (2004, PG-13)
This movie is hard to explain. It is a comic book movie, but it doesn't really feel like it. It's kind of like a mix between The Matrix, Men in Black, and Van Helsing. Hellboy is perfectly cast. My favorite character was Abe Sapien. He was really cool. The special effects aren't that great at times, but the character development in the movie makes up for it. It is definately underrated. |

The Polar Express (2004, G)
It's a good movie to watch every Christmas. The elves are kind of Nazi-like and creepy, and the songs aren't that great, but I think it will probably become a holiday perennial film. Robert Zemeckis's motion capture technology has a long way to go if he ever wants to make traditional animation obsolete. The characters' expressions are bland and boring because of this premature technology. I have a love-hate relationship with this movie. |

King Arthur (2004, PG-13)
I liked it. It could have been better, though. The battles were refreshingly new, and do not recycle the trends of battle sequences in other movies. The cast was good, especially Clive Owen as King Arthur. I really like the theme music. I'm not sure where history ends and the legend begins, but it's lots of fun along the way. |

Bring back Michelle Pfeiffer! This is one of the most poorly made films I have ever seen. The action scenes are stupid and boring, the special effects were terrible, the script was unintentionally funny, and why don't they ever talk about Gotham City? Oh, and it has the worst "evil conspiracy" ever: using make-up products to kill people and take over the world. I'm glad I watched it on AMC and didn't waste a cent on it. |
