This could easily be one of my favorite year of movies. People say it was a down year compared to 2007? I'll take my top 6 from 08 over my top 6 of 07 any day. (PS My favorite year of movies is 1994)

I'm just going to give an undescriptive ramble here since I cannot put this movie into words...

Mickey Rourke wow. Wow! Wow! Fucking wow! You are Randy "the Ram" Robinson, and you are amazing. This is easily one of best acting performances of the last 20 years as many others have stated. I fell in love with the character. IDK if I'm bias because I loved wrestling all my childhood or not. I didn't know it could get any better than Gran Torino, or Slumdog Millionaire. But it did! Congratulations Darren Aronofsky.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Not far from perfect, and its good to see Mr. Pitt step out of the pretty boy box and into these more dramatic movies lately.

Slumdog Millionaire (2008,  R)
Slumdog Millionaire
Very seldom do I use the word "beautiful" when describing a movie as a whole. Well, this movie is exactly that. A BEAUTIFUL piece of work! Quite possibly the best of 2008

Gran Torino (2009,  R)
Gran Torino
This movie is quite good, too good! haha. I find it so good in fact that it could win a few awards at the next Oscars. That would make this Clint Eastwood's 3rd movie to win at the Oscars in the last 5 years. His 4th nomination in the last 5 years.

With the above credentials you can tell Mr. Eastwood is a rare breed, someone who just keeps getting better with age. In this movie he plays a prejudice Korean-war veteran who lives in a very diverse neighborhood. We follow the stubborn Eastwood as he is tried, and his patience is put to the test. Over the course of the movie we start seeing him get a bit "warmer" and dare I say "gentler." haha. I don't wanna spoil anything, but the easiest way to recommend this movie is if you are a fan of his other works such as Mystic River, and Million Dollar Baby, then this equals must see.

Frozen River (2008,  R)
Frozen River
The sleeper of my list. This reminds me of a city I once grew up in (minus the snow). Its a very real movie, with real emotions, touching on real subjects, acted out as real as possibly real can be.
