1
GoodFellas (1990,  R)
GoodFellas
Extremely good piece of work from Martin Scorcese.
De Niro, Liotta and especially Pesci were born to play the roles they've been given.
Still, it wasn't enough to beat "Dances with Wolves" for the best picture in 1990.
2
The Departed (2006,  R)
The Departed
For any director a movie like this one will definitely signify the best work he would have ever done, for any director but almighty Scorsese. The departed has the soul of Goodfellas, but, as exellent as it is, it's still miles away from the 1990 masterpiece. Well it's okay this is remake, but an amazing crafted one indeed, backed up by one of the best ensemble acting i've seen in recent times, and a brilliant screenplay by William Monahan. Through the departed, Scorsese returns to the urban violent streets and proves he's the master of american gangster movies (if you take Coppola out for a second please...) The elevator scene is just as tense as a scene could ever get, and could be mistaken for a hitchcockian scene if the movie was a little older.
Definitely a must-see for everyone, and worthy of all oscars it got.
3
Cape Fear (1991,  R)
Cape Fear
DeNiro throws a marvellous performance as convicted rapist Max Cady ; Juliette Lewis exells as well.
The suspense is always present, the thrill, the fear.....
Stands surely as one of the best thrillers of modern cinema. Just Brilliant !
4
Casino (1995,  R)
Casino
It's practically impossible to hide the similarites to Mighty GoodFellas.
Same primary cast, Same Director, and it's a mob film.
Eventhough GoodFellas surpasses Casino on every level, it's still a masterpiece, and is considered between the best gangster movies ever made.
5
Raging Bull (1980,  R)
Raging Bull
A very complex, upsetting story of a person's fall from grace.
The black and white shoot gives the film its glamour.
Scorsese + DeNiro + Pesci = Amazing movie.
6
Taxi Driver (1976,  R)
Taxi Driver
A dark Portrayal of a lonely man living on some scumstreet in NewYork.
The Film is disturbing but extremely brilliant.
The ending lacks some realism, especially coming from Scorsese who always uses dramatic endings.
7
Gangs of New York (2002,  R)
Gangs of New York
DiCaprio and Day-Lewis unleash very strong performances.

It's a story of vengeance and revenge, and it's helped out by a powerful script.

Heartbreaking for not getting any award, since it had 10 nominations.
8
The King of Comedy (1983,  PG)
The King of Comedy
Scorsese's fifth teamup with DeNiro is surely the most original. Well it's a dark comedy with a scorsese sauce that most of the people haven't seen, but really should. DeNiro plays desperate comedian Rupert Pupkin, who's trying so hard to get started in the show business by any means possible. The film's main idea is showing us what a desperate person can achieve if he's willing to succeed, and the price he's prepared to pay if the plan's executed. I won't risk spoiling it by saying anymore, but this DeNiro early comedy is better than all his recent comedies combined.
9
The Age of Innocence (1993,  PG)
The Age of Innocence
It's just a shame to pass beside Scorsese directing Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Winona Rider.
A beautifully crafted dramatic triangle love story in the most wealthy atmosphere imaginable.
Was rather painfully slow at times, but that's compensated by a superb direction.
10
The Aviator (2004,  PG-13)
The Aviator
Scorsese's ultimate portrayal of ambiguous Howard Hughes.
Di Caprio Throws in a marvellous performance.
Dark and Tragic.
11
The Last Temptation of Christ (1988,  R)
The Last Temptation of Christ
Very daring film picturing Christ from a completely different, human perspective.
Might be bothering to some persons.
The key to the story is based on the relationship between Jesus of Nazareth and Judas Iscariot.
